I was referred to this office for black spots visible in my fundus. Upon examination, Dr. Ian Chan prescribe me a medicine that wasn't fully covered by Medicaid(80% would only be covered), the rest was out of pocket(around $400 per dose usage). However after 4 visits and paying $1600 for the medicine within a year timespan, I decide to go to another doctor when results weren't desirable and getting worse. I decided to ask Ian Chan for the medicine's name. When the new doctor was given the name, he told me that the medicine Dr. Ian Chan prescribed to me isn't even covered by Medicaid. After hearing that, I realized that Dr. Ian Chan had scammed me. Don't come to visit this doctor and take his words with a grain of salt. This is my experience. Beware of this Dr. Ian Chan, "unscrupulous doctor" 我被轉介到这間診所見Dr.

This place is the worst. They recently moved their office to Union effective the first of this month. The front reception ladies are super unorganized. It's frustrating and infuriating. They asked for my name 5x and confirmed my birthday 3x. Why don't you just look at the patient form I filled out instead of asking me so many redundant questions? I was taken to the small examination room on the left where the lady requested I take my contacts off. I asked for contact solution and a dish so I can take my lenses off. The lady leaves the room, comes back and asks me to take my lenses off again. I again asked for contact solution and she advises me that she doesn't have any contact solution or a dish for me to take me contacts out. Ok? So what do you want me to do? I was unfortunately born with bad vision and can't see well without my contacts. She grabs a disposable fountain cup and pours in some eye wash and hands it to me. Ok....? I take my contacts out and the lady tells me she's going to pour in some eye drops to dilate my pupils. She tells me I won't be able to see for the next 2-3 hours. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! SHOULDNT YOU TELL ME THIS BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT OR WHEN I MAKE MY APPOINTMENT SO I DONT COME ALONE?! I don't live near Flushing and I DROVE. Have you no consideration and decency to tell me in advance? Frustrating. I wait to see the doctor. There's maybe 4 people waiting and the reception ladies again asked me to confirm my name and birthday. Very annoying. Pretty sure I'm the only person in the waiting area with a simple/American name. Why do I have to confirm my name and birthday 5x? I WROTE DOWN MY INFORMATION ON THE PATIENT FORM. Read it and stop asking me!! I see the doctor. He gives me about 5-10 minutes of his time. No complaints with the doctor. I come out and ask if I can put my contacts back on. I ask for the eye wash and a mirror so I can put my contacts back in. The lady rudely tells me I have to go to the bathroom and refuses to give me the bottle of eye wash. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. HOW DO YOU WANT ME TO PUT MY CONTACTS BACK IN WITHOUT WASHING MY HANDS AND WITHOUT A MIRROR WHEN YOU KNOW IM HAVING VISION PROBLEMS?! I mean, that's why I'm seeing the doctor right?! They told me to go find the bathroom outside of the office. Keep in mind I have my contacts in a damn cup and can't see well. I have bad vision AND my eyes are dilated. You want me to go find the bathroom?! Avoid this place. Very unprofessional and unorganized.

Their equipment is new and they alcohol wipe each machine before having you use it. Most importantly, Dr. Cheng made my experience 5/5. She is knowledgeable, patient and thorough. I was referred by a family member and referred friends over as well because of such a pleasant experience. She makes sure all your questions are answered and doesn't rush you out and genuinely cares. Dr. Siu was very friendly and detailed in explaining my issue, what could have caused it and what she recommends I do to correct and maintain the health of my eye going forward. I felt very comforted by her assessment and recommendations. The billing for the services was a little bit confusing. I have a high-deductible insurance plan so I was aware that I would be paying a decent amount to satisfy my deductible but the staff phrased it in such an odd way. They told me it would be a $300 deposit and if my insurance ended up covering some then they would refund me and if it ended up costing more they would bill me. They repeated this to me even after I was done with my eye exam. This was odd because they should know what services were provided during my visit and how much it could cost and despite trying to get clarification they continued to speak in a cryptic way suggesting it could be less, it could be more, who knows? I understand that insurance is complex and things may or may not be covered for whatever reason but providing the patient with a general range of what things may cost should be a base line expectation in my opinion. I visited in March and I had to call in May to receive the refund of the excess of my initial deposit despite the explanation of benefits being available in early April. If you do pay the deposit here make sure you are doing your due diligence with your insurance.

I am still seeing him as of now. I have seen him for three times at the flushing office…read more Receptionists always speak with bad attitude. Medical assistants are actually ok. A few things I don't appreciate: 1) first visit, i went to see him due to a long-lasting redness and inflammation issue in my eye ball and eyelid. During the check-up, dr. ko picked up some eyelashes from inside my eyelid and later on they billed to my insurance. I called my insurance company and talked to the biller of wilson ko's office and had them waive off the charge for that. But it seems that they might have done this scams very often. 2) before i went to the follow-up appointment and after i finished the eye drop prescribed, I called them to see if i should get a refill and one of the staff on the phone told me to stop using the eye drop after she checked with one of their eye doctors (not wilson ko) . However, when i went to the follow-up, dr. ko asked me why i stopped using the eyedrop he prescribed. I was like wtf......Dr. Ko asked me to continue to use the medicine and eyedrop and see him back in 3 months later. Also, the follow-up check up was taking like 5 min to see doctor and 2 hours wait. 3) So far, I still didn't see my eye condition improving. at this point, i really don't have much hope dr. ko can get me better. Maybe he is a good eye doctor and has skills, but it didn't work out for me.

It didn't help that upon entering the waiting room for the first time, I found the waiting room to be full of people. Nor did it help that after being called in, I went through a short procedure and was then asked to return to the waiting room to wait some more. I imagined that I might get lost in the shuffle or become completely forgotten. But such concerns never materialized. I simply had to wait a short while until they were ready for my next step/procedure. The office may appear chaotic and disorganized but in reality, it is a very well-organized humming machine. This is true of both the Union Street and Maple Street offices where I have had appointments. Admittedly, the appointment to see Dr Chu, can at times, take a while. But, in my opinion, the occasional longer than usual wait is worth the service provided. Dr. Chu obviously has a lot of patients which says to me that she must be doing something right or she would have only a few patients or no patients at all. Dr. Chu did both of my cataract surgeries and I am deeply grateful of my optometrist for recommending her to me. Overall, I found Dr. Chu to be very knowledgeable, skilled at her work, patient in answering my questions, caring and always dedicated to doing her best. And how do I know that she is always dedicated to doing her best? Well, in our various discussions throughout my pre-surgery consults, two surgeries and aftercare visits, I found Dr. Chu to have a similar mind-set to myself, someone who always seeks to do our best for those we serve. Isn't that the kind of doctor you wish to work on your eyes?
