I ordered Broccoli& Shrimp. Broccoli was to hard to chew. Pork Egg Foo Yung left much to be desired. Very, very dry and came with very thin sauce, nit pork gravy as we are used to receiving else. Shrimp Egg Rolls had only one tiny piece of shrimp, and mostly cabbage, I think. Only thing good was Pork Fried Rice. I'm from Philly and this place reminds me of the Chinese stores back home! I really enjoyed their general tso chicken, shrimp fried rice and shrimp egg roll. The General tso chicken had the right amount of sweetness and crunch. The shrimp fried rice is a bit bland but I typically eat it with the chicken so the blandness doesn't bother me. Chinese places are numerous around here. I Wok is one of many. Savoy is a small town compared to Champaign and Urbana. Even so, it doesn't mean there's a lack of ethnic eating. Though it certainly isn't authentic, it's the best you can get immediately from around here. Before we were just going to get carryout. It happened the place wasn't that bad to dine in. The orders were placed at the window and then we found a table. Has limited but good vegetarian choices. We got the Hunan Tofu. It's about $12 for an okay amount. This certainly was paying too much. Besides that, good flavor. There was a bit of hot spice. For sure you need to go somewhere else for authentic Chinese. It's not here. The Beef Lo Mein had a lot to be desired for my first take out experience here. Extremely low amount of beef and vegetables with it being mostly noodles. I know where I won't be returning for future "so-called" Chinese food. It's not worth the price for what you're expecting! read more

Iwok staff have always been quick and friendly when placing an online order. I typically get Angel hair which has always been excellent, however I really wanted Mongolian beef. I placed my order and for some reason it was half mushrooms (which I strongly dislike). There's a photo of Mongolian beef in one of the yelp reviews but there were no mushrooms. Needless to say I was disappointed and threw half my meal away. I will still return to iwok but definitely sticking to the Angel hair. read more

I have had a number of dishes here. My fav 's are the simple ones chicken and shrimp broccoli (shrimp is good quality). Their fried rice is good the way I like it, egg roll ehh, standard egg drop soup. I like that they don't drown the dishes in heavy sauce just the right amount for flavor. They cook the vegetables perfect ever time. The Mongolian beef good but not my fav. In the old days (covered wagons and all) I remember just green onions in the dish not the chopped onions that they all do here. The egg foo young was tasty but swimming in oil, will pass on that one. The shrimp w/lobster sauce total disappointment, tasted like shrimp in egg drop soup no real flavor to speak of. Over all a good stop and they have always gotten the order right. read more

This is my go-to for the standard Americanized Chinese takeout in Chambana. The portion sizes, price, and quality are far better than what I've experienced at the local competition. Don't compare this place to Golden Harbor. It's more in the neighborhood of Chopstix and Rainbow Garden (but much better). It isn't the most convenient location for people living on campus, but that isn't an issue for me. Service is always friendly and fast. I've never had an incorrect order in the past 3 years (at least 15 orders). Lunch specials are a great value if you can make it in during their window of availability. The only thing I wish were a bit better is the soup. Don't get me wrong; the soups aren't bad. They just aren't great. As a big fan of Chinese takeout soups, sometimes I am a little disappointed from the ones I get here. read more

Just finished eating our takeout order and had to review. The food was INCREDIBLY GOOD! So delicious. We kept raving about it between bites. We ordered beef lo mein, crab Rangoon, steamed dumplings, egg rolls, spare ribs, and fried donuts. Everything was tasty. The spare ribs are perfect. We will be ordering again for sure. Holy cow! I was not expecting this to be THIS good! I've driven by the spot several times. It's far enough off the road and in a small strip mall that I assumed it was simply another ratty Chinese buffet. I could not of been more wrong! After reading several favorable reviews on yelp, I decided to stop in for lunch. It was refreshing to get to order off a menu again. I was a little out of practice and the server did a wonderful job of helping me decide what to order. The food was amazing and tasted very fresh. I ordered the orange chicken. Really happy with it take out! Shrimp egg rolls were very tasty so were the crab Rangoon. They could maybe add a little more filling but that's a minor detail. They have a convenient location. I went around 5ish pm and we were the only customers but by 530 it got busy. Their prices are hella cheap. We ordered the beef broccoli, chicken curry, pork fried rice, egg rolls and vegetable lo mein. Tbh I didn't like the chicken curry. It tasted bland. The beef broccoli and the egg rolls were okay. We love this place! We've had it twice so far since moving to town and both times have been phenomenal. You can tell everything is fresh. The crispy tofu was on par with the crispy tofu at Golden Harbor. The combination plates last at least 2 meals and are such a good deal. So far we've tried and loved the chicken with broccoli, beef with broccoli, general tso's, garlic chicken, wonton soup, and crispy tofu. Can't wait to try more things! read more

I ordered shrimp lo mein and chicken lo mein, spring rolls, and crab Rangoon...no shrimp in the lo mein, spring rolls were greasy and 90% empty as were the Rangoon... extremely disappointed for the money I paid... I will never give this place my business again. I'm horrified. I ordered online. Never again. Do Not Use The Online System With Your Credit Card! I entered my credit card info, and the order went through. Then we get a call just as we get there. I sent my daughter in to get the order, and she came out to say that something was wrong with the card. I went in, and it turns out the last number was wrong. How did I find this out? They had printed it out. Yep. The "pay online with credit card" option? They print out all the info you put in and hand-enter it onto their in-shop machine. So there was my credit card number, my name, the billing zip, the security code, and the expiration date, sitting on the counter printed in nice bold type, while they took peoples' orders and processed payments. I told them to cancel the order and shred it, then changed my mind. Not trusting that! Lesson learned! I took it myself to shred it. They looked affronted that they'd started cooking the food. Those people have absolutely no idea what it means to mishandle someone's private financial information. They should call it iDentityTheft, not iWok. I give a lot of leeway with businesses processing online transactions. IThey can take a while, your order might be later, there might be mistakes when they prepare the order... but I have never, ever seen anyone print out all my credit card info and leave it on a counter. I'm angrier writing this than I have ever been when I sit down to write a review of something, but I want others to learn from my mistake. We've only used this place once or twice, because we could order online while we were on that side of town and it was convenient. My son (Rick S) has already written a review for I Wok. We differed in our opinions, however. I was surprised that the restaurant was empty at 12:30 pm on a Thursday afternoon. I would have thought that a place like this would be a magnet for people working in Savoy. Perhaps the 100+ degree days are keeping people from wandering out to eat. There is nothing fancy about the restaurant -- just some basic tables and chairs. We were politely greeted upon entering. After placing our order for lunch specials ($5.95 for an entree, fried or white rice, and a can of soda or an egg roll), we were delighted to receive a complimentary mini order of Crab Rangoon. It tasted much better than the traditional kind we had come to expect in area restaurants. The presentation of our meals was excellent -- a half sphere of fried rice alongside the entree. My Kung Po Chicken was great. The thing I noticed most was that the fresh taste of the vegetables just jumped out at me. The celery and mushrooms smelled and tasted sooooo good. My daughter ordered Chicken Egg Foo Young and raved about it. It smelled great when she heated up the leftovers today. She was beaming at getting to finish the meal today and asked when we would return. Rick had the Pepper Steak with Onions and seemed to enjoy it. I used a CiSaves.com $10 certificate for $5, which made the lunch really cheap for three people. I have one more left and will certainly use it in the future. I've been once, and it was definitely "as good as it gets!" just as I've been told. Ordered orange chicken for the chil'ren and a chili shrimp dish with extra spice for myself. I ventured out and ordered something new and it was great! The restaurant is very small on the inside, so I can't imagine what it is like when it's busy. As a Chicago native I have grown accustomed to eating mediocre Italian, Mexican, Chinese etc. in central Illinois. But I wok rises above the average fray and then some. The building is new the lighting is great the woman at the desk could take an order with only minimal confusion. The food was astoundingly delicious. Simplicity is key when it comes to Chinese food. Don't reinvent the wheel just provide me with that American Chinese taste I have had my whole life, and please make it fresh. The most notable thing about my girlfriends sweet and sour chicken was the almost non existent grease in the container. My sesame chicken was phenomenal as well. And hot damn were the portion sizes generous. I ordered the large and I am confident it will be able to feed me through 2 more meals. 18 dollars for 2 large portion chicken meals. The food is the typical small town Cantonese-American fare that we all see on every menu. Lots of fried rice, sweet and sour blah blah, lo mein, beef and broccoli--- yada yada. All of these options are fine, not outstanding, just okay. The eggrolls and wontons are frozen and the chicken wings are not marinated to the extent that they are distinctive. Everything is just okay.But I get it. If your customers have no reference point for excellent Cantonese food, they will accept all of the shortcuts going on. And trust me, when you love and respect good Cantonese-American food, the shortcuts are so glaringly obvious it hurts. However.... The egg fu young is outstanding. In fact, they should win an award for the flavor of their special egg fu young brown sauce and the patties. They have found magic in this and it is unclear why they can't replicate this same magic with their other food. It almost feels like there is a chef in the back who is waiting to get their chance to show off and they were only given the chance to do egg fu young. Let that person out! Maybe they could jazz up the other stuff to make it as equally outstanding. read more
