The store was open on a Thanksgiving Evening, perfect for those who don't celebrate or couldn't make it to their own. The staff was very friendly and connects with customers on a personal level. We ordered pickup through doordash, the wait time was about 20 minutes, and everything was correct and delicious. The eggdrop soup is the perfect portion and tasted on point. This place is my daughter's absolute favorite, we eat here at least once a week! Recently, it feels like they've gotten even better. The lady who takes orders behind the counter has become even friendlier, and I wonder if there's been a change in ownership because the service feels extra welcoming now. The crispy chicken nuggets with sweet and sour soy sauce on the side are, in my opinion, the BEST in town, my kids go crazy for them! We've also tried many other dishes, and the flavors are consistently delicious. The rice was mushy. Overall the meal was very unappealing visually, and the slimy texture made me sick to even consider eating. Tbh threw it away after the first few bites. Ordered a "3meal and sides special" on May 2nd 2020. I requested two of the general tso chicken and kongpao as my third entree. For my sides I requested vegetable lomein and crabragun. This was a carry out. An hour later my food came , exited to eat I grabbed 3 plates and silverware to share with the family. When I opened the 3 course meal it looked like what I call "soup chicken" I was disappointed that the foods where not separated but instead looked like a hot mess. Oh man, my experience with this place was my worst chinese delivery nightmare from start to finish. Delivery minimum, so I had to order 3 dishes even though I couldn't possibly even eat 1. Driver got lost on the way to my house and called me. He was about 100 feet from where I was and all he had to do was turn left, but he could not speak English well enough to understand what I was telling him, and didn't seem to be motivated enough to actually try to go in the directon I was telling him to go. We were on the phone for about 15 minutes. Then I at last had the food in my kitchen. The menu claims no MSG but my food tasted like 4 different textures of MSG. When I opened my (admittedly totally tired) General Tso's Chicken, the first bite (and all subsequent bites) I took was overpowered in flavor by the 4 sad sorry florets of brocolli that had been thrown in the box. My sweet and sour pork that I had to order to meet the delivery medium was of the sweet and sour comes in a separate tub and has to be combined with the deep fried pork pellets variety, which is my least favorite variety. Orange Chicken was pretty good too, had an actual orange flavor rather that weird Tang/Hi-C "orange" flavor. I am currently waiting on China King to deliver. It has been 1 hour 22 minutes since I called, and was told it would be a 15 minute wait. Each of 3 follow-up calls (spaced 15 minutes apart) resulted in assurance that the food would arrive within a mere 10 more minutes. The food finally arrived. It tasted nice, but was only luke warm (big surprise). The last time I ordered from China King they lost my order, and when--after 1 hour--I called to find out where my food was, they claimed to have never taken an order from me. I always order the same thing, so I'm sure they know me by now. I usually get the General Tso's chicken, egg rolls, butterfly shrimp and the crab Rangoon. Today when I ordered, the lady called and said they were out of the shrimp. I was disappointed but she told me they could give me the potstickers instead. I was unsure what they were to be honest, but I agreed anyway. I'm glad I did though because they were AWESOME! Missing items. I called and asked them to deliver the missing items, yet the guys who picked up the phone declined since they were "too busy," and offered to deliver those items next time I order at this restaurant. I just found this place during quarantine because my go to place was closed. I thought the rice was decent and it's close to my office so I go once a week for a change from burgers and salads. Today my order was wrong and I called and was met with some of the worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. The error was in receiving chicken instead of beef on the combo. The guy was instantly mad and told me the beef version isn't on the menu. I'm calmly telling him I've had it this way every week for the last 2 months...every week. He's loudly arguing that I did not and there is no way they made it with beef. Wait...how are you telling me I did not? I hate chicken in chinese stir fry and would have never ordered it or eaten it. He continues to tell me I ordered chicken. I told him I didn't want to argue what I ordered and if he didn't want to correct it, I want a refund. He tells, "Bring my food back." Of course...I'm really not trying to get over...I just want the correct thing. I get there, he takes the bag, hands me my money back and stomps inside where he angrily throws the bag in the garbage by the door. OMG...they lost a weekly customer today. I found China King through EatCU.com, looking to get something delivered to my place. Delivery: Easily my biggest gripe with China King. It took them NINETY MINUTES to have them deliver an order of Moo Shu Chicken. I don't even think deep dish pizzas take NINETY MINUTES to transition from order to delivery. Perhaps they were swamped on this particular Tuesday night, but nonetheless I found this wait time a little ridiculous. Food: Decent Chinese food without being sensational, but that's not a criticism, as you have to know what you're getting yourself into with Chinese delivery food advertised online. As mentioned, I ordered Moo Shu Chicken along with two eggrolls. The only real gripe I had with my food was that I had no pancakes included with my Moo Shu. I could be wrong, but isn't this standard? Service: My delivery driver was very friendly, and apologized for the wait. As a PSA to everyone, tip your delivery driver, as this is one of the nation's most hazardous occupations! Overall: Moo Shu Pork without pancakes and two eggrolls at $15 after tip and a 90 minute wait. I highly doubt the wait had much to do with my delivery driver, likely more a reflection of either China King getting caught with their pants down on a fluke busy day, perhaps they just have a low prioritization of delivery. When I crave Chinese food, this place is my quick fix. They are so fast. I order & it's all ready by the time I get there & I'm only like 5 minutes away! The food is tasty & very affordable. I'm not a picky person, but there were a couple things wrong with my experience with China King: -Delivery was late, taking over an hour and a half for a simple order. -I asked for utensils with the delivery, and the driver did not have any. -There were only 2 pieces of shrimp in my order of shrimp and broccoli. Pretty cheap. -They weren't shy on soy sauce packets, but I only received 1 little packet of sweet & sour sauce with my sweet & sour chicken. The absolute worse food and delivery I have ever experienced. It took more than an hour to get the food, it was cold, and my chicken and vegetables was all onion, three small bites of chicken, and one carrot and pea pod. I can usually make two or three meals from the place I typically order. From China King, I was given 1/2 cup of the entree and rice. Never again...lesson learned. This is my favorite chinese restaurant in Champaign, the food is very fresh and inexpensive. my favorite appetizer is their crab ragoon with their home made red sauce, and my favorite dish is their General Tso chicken and chicken mei fun. The delivery service is great, it was fast and the minimum was only twelve dollars. the food arrives fresh and hot. I order my food from this place at lease once a week and never got disapointed. However, today that turned out to be a terrible choice. At 8:24pm I called China King. I had waited just about double the average delivery time of 45 minutes, as stated on the website. At that time, the individual at China King who answered the phone told me my order had left the restaurant, that there was nothing they could do to help me, and that my food would be arriving at my apartment soon. So I continued to wait. I continued to wait until 9:03pm, at which time I called China King again. Initially, I was told AGAIN that the food had left, there was nothing they could do, and that my food would be arriving any minute. This was MORE THAN TWO HOURS after I had initially placed my order. When I mentioned this to the man at China King who had answered the phone, he again stated there was nothing he could do. I had to make the suggestion that he call his delivery driver and ask where the food was. At first, he simply told me there was nothing he could do. I had to INSIST TWICE that he call the delivery driver before he would even do that. Even then, I got the SAME ANSWER I had gotten the two times I had called China King: the food was on its way and would be at my apartment soon. I did not get my food until 9:18pm. When I did get my food, it was cold in parts, as if it had been sitting in a car for a majority of the MORE THAN TWO HOURS that I waited for my food. In addition, MY ORDER WAS INCOMPLETE. I had ordered a special combination plate, which should include a 24 oz. bottled drink. This was NOT INCLUDED. I paid money to wait for 2 HOURS AND 17 MINUTES before getting lukewarm food and an incomplete order. This is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. Perhaps this whole thing was just my bad luck, but rudeness and poor service seem to be more an issue on the restaurant of the service industry equation than mine. read more

This is an update to my previous post. Recently this place has gone downhill and taken their food with them. Tonight I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combination with the crab ran goon and an egg roll. Because they began to put sprouts of some sort in their fried rice, I requested no sprouts, and basically they gave me fried rice with only the chunks of chicken, but none of the vegetables (peas, onion, etc.) that used to be in the fried rice. The egg role was more of a spring role; very fine and delicate shell, but the middle didn't taste like anything. It was a little boring. The crab ran goon are what put the stake through my heart. This place used to have the BEST crab ran goon in town. Tonight however, the top corners were a strange color from the rest of the pastry and looked dry and/or overcooked. I decided to forgo trying them as I can't afford to be sick. The chicken was as usual, but for over $8 - I can get better chicken elsewhere. Not sure what's gone on with this place, but I'm not sure if I can return - too many other places in town whose food I like. read more

However, I did not get sweet and sour sauce with my sweet and sour chicken, they gave me orange chicken instead of general tsos, and a regular Coke instead of a diet one. This has become one of my favorite lunch places - the food is cheap, doesn't take too long, and is delicious!! I'm a big fan of their sesame chicken (when it's good), as it has a bit of a kick to it. Lunch and dinner combos are a great deal, and I love the crab rangoon. The restaurant is kept clean, and I love the guys behind the counter - so friendly! The only con is that the quality seems to vary at times. Last week, the sesame chicken was the best I'd ever tasted. Complete trash. I ordered food from here and they didn't have eggplant for my beef and eggplant dish so I just switched to a generic chicken dish. After waiting 40 minutes I find out that the driver "called" me, except I never received any calls from him. Nobody at the restaurant tried to contact me and I guess they were fine with just letting me wait until I got sick of waiting. After 50 minutes the guy on the other line tells me he's going to send his delivery guy over again. 20 minutes later still no dice. I was willing to wait 40 minutes for a delivery, it's ridiculous, but I could manage I suppose. I am not going to wait 90 minutes for the same dish. Nobody at this restaurant speaks decipherable English. In the 5 calls I made to figure out what was going on with my order, 2 of those calls were answered during which no information about the status of my delivery was made available (due to both lack of communication skills on the part of the restaurant and an apparent incompetence). I have never written a review but my short experience with this place made me want to warn people, I called wanting to place an order for delivery after they put a flyer in my door at my apartment complex, so I thought I would give them a try. When I call the guy just answers the phone in a rude manner so I just say I would like to place and order for delivery, he says "what your address" so I tell him . I thought he asked for my phone number after that and started telling him, but I guess he was asking my apartment number (he had a bad accent)He was like "NO NO YOUR APARTMENT" so I told him he was being rude and he then hung up on me! If your restaurant is desperate enough to put a flyer in every door of an apartment complex with 100+ apartments then DO NOT be rude when they want to order from you. I ordered some food form here. Approximately two hours later (and one hour after the order as well) I call to check on it since over an hour on delivery is usually a sign of an issue. The first call was rather jarring when I was told that the order would get to me in another half hour, but the employee was apologetic and, considering the weather conditions, I understood. At two hours, I called again and was talked to by a VERY rude man. He told me that the restaurant was very backed up and that, if I wanted my food, well then I could just come get it. Seeing as I don't have a car, I told him that that wasn't possible. He then proceeded to tell me that "what can I do, I have another 18 orders here and you're not that important". I, of course, cancelled my order. I was just appalled that, after keeping a customer waiting for 2 hours I didn't even receive and apology and was treated as though I was being unreasonable. At no point did I ask for any compensation or raise my voice so I definitely didn't deserve this. I understand that they were stressed, but the way I was treated was completely uncalled for. I've ordered from here before and the food is mediocre at best. I strongly do NOT suggest this restaurant. Any of the other places in Champaign-Urbana would treat you better and actually get your food to you. Go to them. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! We ordered over $50 worth of food for delivery and they forgot my husband's meal so I called within 5 mins of the delivery. I called and was told it would be 30 mins... An hour later still nothing, so I call again and was told 5-10 mins.... 20 mins later I called again and was told it would be 5 mins... 15 mins later my husband called the person how answered began to yell that they were busy and we would just have to wait and hung up on him... Ordered food about two hours ago. Never been so disappointed. Bad things: Ordered Ma Po Tofu, which was 1. Sweet! 2. Came with beef (because you have no responsibility to inform people the dish isn't vegetarian) 3. full of undercooked scallions which made it taste like sweet onion sauce I've had the same dish multiple times at Tang Dynasty and Golden Harbour, and both times it was more or less the same. This was way different, and really bad. Also ordered Garlic chicken, which tastes more of broccoli and corn than garlic sauce. Delivery took over an hour, but that's probably because campus is really full today. Good things: 1. Very generous helpings. A lot of rice with every dish. 2.
