It'a not uncommon on the islands to use reusable shopping bags or to carry additional bags for shopping, as the entire island tries to decrease the amount of garbage, given we're on an island. With that said we went into this shop after eating at Duffy's (amazing btw). As we walked in a lady was there too busy taking care of her child and did not greet us nor did she say hello even. being a single mother myself, I yelled across the store "ma'am are there any sales today?" she responded with, "stickers and post cards".
My daughter and I started looking at shirts as that was the only reason we were there, outside of possibly finding a $10 (typically and normally priced) sea shell necklace. As I'm bent over looking at mens shirts, this same woman rushed up behind me. I surprised by this stand upright and ask her why the men's shirts say one size on the tag but a completely different size on the tag. she's completely unaware of why this would be and rudely tells me to ignore it. My daughter than alerts me that she's going to go outside, as she wanted to talk to her friends and it was unbelievably hot inside this shop. I then asked her for said reusable bag that we've been adding the other shirts we were buying and she goes to open the door. Here comes the woman again, running up and grabbing my daughters arm!! She screams at my daughter, "let me see your purse!" This has alerted me, I come up throwing my purse open, my daughter throwing hers wide open and the lady says, "oh I thought you were stealing!" Are you kidding me??? where is it EVER ok to put your hands on someone else's child??? secondly, where's the apology??? Trying to now get the heck out of this store I throw my card at the woman proving we're paying, and this woman never said a thing after this!! Her father came out to save face by trying to help us after this situation. I leave in shock this even happened, my daughter traumatized by these people and scared to go back in.
We walk two doors down where the same shirts were all cheaper. I walk back over to the assault shop, asking for my money back as they taped up a "no refunds, exchanges only" sign. Trying to politely ask for my money back, the older gentleman sat there "tapping" my arm, yelling at me, stating he's not responsible for his daughter's behavior and even going as far as stating "he's sorry" for the way this happened. I simply ask for them to give me my money back or call the cops. out of nowhere this very large and intimidating man walks up and says "what do you want?" I claim a refund and he says no! I then state I'm contacting the police and that's when I'm told, "they're on our payroll too!"
Not only was I physically assaulted, my daughter was physically assaulted, we were harassed, we were called names and treated absolutely horribly! In addition, they have children working in these shops - which is also illegal.
you can get better souvenirs across the street, at KMart or any where else on the island! this is not a family friendly company nor do they care about your business or you as a customer! Poor quality in products and the humans working there/running it and WAY overpriced!! Do not shop here, you'll regret it!! A police report, BBB report, Google Review and incident report has all been filed and I encouraged the witnesses (other potential clients) to file a review as well! read more
