The store usually has some sort of sale going on, so stop by even if it's just to have a look. The store has swimsuits, goggles, sunglasses, etc., you name it, it's there. Mostly good quality stuff too! They sell really nice bracelets that are tagged to animals that have been cared for and released back into the wild. Gorillas, sharks, dolphins, penguins, etc. Really fun for the whole family. They have a frequent buyer program, the more you buy, the more discounts you get. LOL CSC is full of top-quality brands of clothing, sunglasses, beach attire, etc., much of which is name brands you would recognize, Yeti, Oakley... The staff is super friendly too and will help you find the perfect item you are looking for. The shop also has regular souvenir items, shirts, hats, etc. with the CSC name on them, those are pretty cool too. We visited the store in the Red Hook area of St. Thomas. The store was very nice too. I tried on some of the shirts, and got a couple t-shirts to take home. The material is very soft. Significantly softer than cotton, almost like satin. It does wick moisture better than cotton too. This was a significant plus since it was still summer, and I do a lot of outdoor activities. I also just like the way the shirts fit too. I before next summer I would like to buy their bedsheet set. Or at least a pair of pillowcases. The items cost a little more than their cotton counterparts, which is to be expected of course. But I am okay with paying more for a better product. The novelty of wearing a shirt made of bamboo is cool in and of itself, but the fact that its more comfortable, cooler, and wicks moisture better, makes it a very practical, useable product. I plan to buy some more shirts, and make it a staple of my casual clothing, as it's better than cotton in every way. The only fault I could say is that the clothing selection is a bit slim. However, overall, its great, as they have many other things besides clothing. Definitely check this place out. The fact that they are opening locations in regular mainland US cities goes to show that their offerings are not touristy souvenirs, but are very practical products.

For everything that is lesser quality, there are higher quality versions of said items. It's just a fact of life. The question then comes into play, "Is it worth the extra cost?" To me, the extra cost on said luxuries helps mitigate stresses that exist in life. Even if it is minimal or seemingly negligible, it adds up over time. Cariloha is a luxury brand. There's no two ways about it. In my eyes, it's worth every dime. Cariloha sells bamboo-fiber bedsheets, shirts, workout wear, and men's underwear. I can attest that after using their items for over a year. I use fabric softener on all my laundry, and the bamboo items are naturally softer than cotton. In addition, they are cooler (temperature). Cariloha claims it is 3-5 degrees cooler, I argue it might be more. Their shops on all the islands I've visited are tiny. Very tiny. Considering they probably get 1000-2000 people through their shops daily (from cruise ship guests); they are extremely well organized. Everything is folded and neat. When I was there, they were running sales on various items; pretty much the only discounts you will be able to find. Maybe next visit I'll pick up some of the bath towels. I am not sure what to do if you can't find parking next to the store. The store was clean and seemed well-managed. The shelves were full and there was someone taking inventory for what to order. The store is small but had everything a "regular" food store has on the mainland. There are fresh fruits, a fresh meat market, canned good, boxed goods, breads, etc etc. Upstairs is devoted solely to wines. Prices are REALLY high. We spent more for one week of groceries than we do for two weeks in Dallas. And we did only a partial shop since we still want to go out. For example, whole organic milk was $11 a half gallon. The same granola that I pay $4 for in Dallas was $13. Everything was expensive across the board. I guess you pay for the convenience. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. We will probably return if we need something.

We walked all over downtown St. John looking for the best quality and price on jewelry. The Caribbean hook bracelets are very popular and come in a variety of sizes, styles, and made with different metals. I was looking for .925 sterling silver, and he had a variety already made. When I couldn't find the right size to fit my wrist, the owner said he would make one for me, and we picked it up the next day. I chose the fish hook design (rather than the traditional U hook) with a hammered finish. It's shiny and unique, and I love it! We talked a bit with the soft spoken owner, Terrell, who is from Hickory, NC, and has been in St. John since 2003. We actually ended up purchasing two bracelets, one as a gift for my daughter. Highly recommend if you're wary about being taken advantage of by the many jewelry retailers in the area.
