The store usually has some sort of sale going on, so stop by even if it's just to have a look. The store has swimsuits, goggles, sunglasses, etc., you name it, it's there. Mostly good quality stuff too! They sell really nice bracelets that are tagged to animals that have been cared for and released back into the wild. Gorillas, sharks, dolphins, penguins, etc. Really fun for the whole family. They have a frequent buyer program, the more you buy, the more discounts you get. Started with some wakesurf near the pizza boat and when we got hungry.......we jumped on over to the pizza boat for lunch! Good food, super clear water, saw various kinds of fish under the boat. After lunch we cruised over to another spot for some snorkeling then headed out for the afternoon wakesurf session. Picked us up and dropped us off right at the beach of the hotel. If your thinking about booking don't hesitate. It was a great time and we all wished we had booked another day.

Because of our amazing experience last year, we had to give them another try this year. On both visits, we chose the "rent a local" experience for about $120 per person, and both times we were fortunate enough to have Madi as our guide! The "rent a local" experience is essentially a private tour in which a local snorkel expert picks you up from your hotel and drives you to 2 beaches for snorkeling, in addition to taking you to some lookout points and Hull Bay Hideaway for lunch (lunch not included in the package). Madi offered a wealth of expertise and even helped me (I am not a big swimmer and can hardly float) to stay afloat in the water (thanks to a life jacket and noodle, and later even a boogie board) while still enjoying the sights to see. Madi even brought along a cooler with waters, sodas and rum punch to keep us hydrated between beaches. Madi and the rest of the crew know exactly where to go and have great knowledge of the local wildlife. On both snorkel adventures, we saw plenty of sea turtles, sting rays, sea urchin, sea worms, flounder and various other forms of wildlife such as octopus, squid and even a barracuda. Throughout the day, your guide customizes the 5-hour experience according to what you'd like to see and do (want to spend more time at a beach snorkeling? No problem at all!). I also have to add that Webb, who runs this program, is an amazing (and personal) communicator. We emailed back and forth several times before arriving to make sure we got the most out of our experience. He also makes sure that your guide texts you before picking you up so that you have each other's contact information. The other great aspect of this tour is that your guide takes pictures of your group and the wildlife you encounter. The picture quality is incredible and they really capture some amazing shots. If you choose to purchase the photo package, they'll guarantee at least 50 high-resolution photos and will send them digitally via Dropbox or Air Drop. If you're looking to snorkel (or even Scuba dive) on St. Thomas or St. John, you must choose St. Thomas Adventures. I wouldn't change a thing about this crew and this program. They all rock and the value is incredible!

It's been 5 years since I last dove and I had never been on an ocean dive. Living in Kentucky limits my access to beaches but we have plenty of lakes, rivers, and quarries. We went in to purchase some souvenirs for our sons and I just asked on a whim if the young lady (Coralie) knew of any reputable dive crews that had any openings the week we were in the USVI. It took some convincing from my wife but I finally relented and signed up. I am so glad that I did. Fast forward a few days and we find ourselves in front of the Fool's Gold ship with a seasoned crew of divers and captains getting ready for an adventure of a lifetime! Both dives took place at Buck Island. Dive 1 was at Barracuda Point. It was a 41-minute dive of up to 65' - 70'. Dive 2 was at the wreck of the Cartanza Senora. It was a 49 minute dive of up to 50'. Having not been out for 5 years, I decided to enlist a private dive instructor at a small additional fee. Her name was Audrey and she was AMAZING! I was nervous and showing all the signs of a new diver (holding my breath, struggling with buoyancy, etc.). She put my mind at ease and by the end of the first dive, it was like riding a bicycle. We saw so much ocean life that I would have missed were it not for her. We saw spotted drum, blue tangs, moon jellyfish, a Caribbean reef shark, a nurse shark, green sea turtles, angelfish, yellowtail snappers, pink meanies, groupers, puffer fish, parrotfish, a hawksbill sea turtle (endangered), anemones, flounder, filefish, and a solo squid. I cannot finish this review without giving huge props to the entire crew of Becca, Paul, and Gus as well. They worked so well together and made the trip memorable for everyone on the boat and in the water. My wife, who did not dive or snorkel, even had a great time on the boat and floating in the water with pool noodles. If you are considering a dive while in St. Thomas or the USVI, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't make Red Hook Dive Center your first call. This was a trip I will always remember. Pro tip: Make sure you bring your GoPro or dive camera. The sea life is amazing and wondrous! I'm so glad I remembered mine.

The staff had completely changed and it showed. The ONLY person that I would give more than 1 star to for customer service was Audrey...5 stars isn't enough. She was FANTASTIC! A GREAT dive master and a GREAT customer service representative of the company! She walked around on the boat before and after the dives and talked to everyone to get to know them and see how they were doing. Truly a model employee! That's where it ends. EVERYONE else was mediocre at best. No personality, no interaction with the divers, no customer service skills. Sam was no help in the dive shop, the captains were just there for the paycheck...it was a complete turnaround from the staff that was there before. BY FAR, the WORST was May. She was the dive master on my third day of dives and was a complete and utter disappointment. She picked the WORST possible dive sites (NE side of St. Thomas across from Coral World at Thatch Cay), had ZERO personality or customer service skills, and was not ready to be leading divers. We spent the first ten minutes of the second dive swimming into a strong current and she had no clue. You could watch the rocks below and see that we weren't moving at all. She finally turned us around and we just flowed with it until the dive was over. No wildlife pointed out, no attempt at doing her job...it seemed like she was being burdened to have to take us out. Needless to say, I won't use RHDC again. If is wasn't for Audrey, I would give it 1 star. She was truly great at her job. The rest...not so much.

Upon check in or anything, you give them all the basic info they need- and or show them. (Ie, these are the hours, when you check in our out, this is how you put in the code. This is the Wi-Fi password.) In business and hospitality, you have thought of and anticipated people's needs, so you generally cover them upon move in. These are developed world standards and when serving developed world guests.... They are the customer, looking for ease and a vacation- so in this case, do as the Romans do.

Fitting for fins and equipment takes a while. Good thing we arrived early (parking can be problematic) to get everything situated. The staff and crew of this shop are the most friendly and chill folks. Brett was awesome and chill with my teenage boys and eased and assured me they were in good hands. CDC also took underwater photos. We purchased the entire file of photos for $27. Worth it. Actually the shore dive and both dive was priceless and worth every penny. I would recommend Coki Dive Center for their dives in St Thomas.

St. Thomas is filled with price gouging even after the hurricanes, how can people charge $3 for a bad photo of St. Thomas? I like Island in the Sun Boutique because their prices have actually decreased quite a bit. $0.50 for postcards and everything in the store was on sale. We found out that prices are not at all set. My hubby really liked this elephant décor piece and got it for a lower price than what is was going for. So don't hesitate to ask the owner for break. This store obviously survives off of the cruise ships docking at Havensight, which are slowly coming back so I think any sale to them is a deal at this point. The people that work here are really friendly are aren't pushy about buying things. The AC is off so there are some funky smells floating around from sweaty tourists, and I think that when they get it back on line again people will stick around longer and buy more things. This shop sells everything you could want or need as a souvenir from St. Thomas, one visit here and you have pretty much seen of what all the other shops are selling.
