I love dumplings located on bridge road stands out from those cheap Asian dumpling eats. Don't be fooled by the sad looking sign. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by well dressed staff (in traditional Chinese dress) and led to these hard strong bodied wooden tables and comfy majestic cushions and chairs. Water is quickly poured into your glasses and you are handed hefty menus. The menus are hard bound with pictures. Dishes that are out of stock are marked clearly. You not only have dumplings but have sizzling dishes, vegetarian options, one noodle dish, a few rice dishes, and even three options for desert (delicious looking fried ice cream). As a group of four, we ordered the following: 1. Stir fry green beans with minced pork - the best I've ever had. Crunchy well flavoured beans with delicious mince pork. 2. Steamed bbq pork buns - again the best I've had. The bbq filling is very tasty. Can't compare it to anything. 3. Fried lamb and beef dumpling - again. The best I've had. Crispy, hot, and well flavoured mince. Don't even need to douse it in chilli or soy or vinegar 4. Sizzling chicken in Mongolian sauce - had a raw onion taste, quite sweet. Didn't much like it. 5. Shanghai Pork dumplings - they are not my favourite so won't comment. 6. Shallot pancake - too oily. Didn't like it Bill came up to around 20 each including two glasses of wine and jasmine tea. Pretty good price. You get the option of 6 dumplings for 6 dollars or 15 dumplings. Need more tea options. Tea came out slightly cold but in a nice clean pot. The food at I love dumplings is great! They have a huge choice of dumplings and main courses. I love how you can order just 6 dumplings instead of 15 and at only $6 they were really good value. We had the beef and lamb dumplings and they were beautiful! We also ordered veggie spring rolls and sizzling peppered beef to share. Spring rolls were also yummy and again reasonably priced. The beef was good quality and the sauce had a really nice taste - my only criticism would be that it felt a little small for the price ($19ish) compared with the excellent value of the other food. The decor is nice, chairs were really comfortable and the food is well presented. Service was friendly, however she forgot about our order and only happened to remember when she seated someone next to us! Luckily she's told us our food would be at least 20 mins and it arrived after about 25-30 so it wasn't too bad, but could have been much longer if it hadn't been for that other customer arriving when she did so I have to reflect this in my score. Although overall I'd definitely still recommend this place, the great, affordable food is enough to overcome the slightly shaky service. read more

Tried this place for the first time recently and must say I am a fan. The "I Love Dumplings" franchise has gone through a bit of a restaurant makeover in the last few years, so it's definitely not your usual dumpling joint. Decor is eye-catching as is the bar. True to their name they have more than 20 types of dumplings. We ordered a variety of "standard" dumplings (think pork & chicken and prawn) as well as some speciality ones. The dumplings (both boiled and fried versions) were delicious - tender fillings with tasty combinations. I was also introduced to the lamb spare ribs - yummo! If you love lamb, particularly the lamb skewers kind of love, then you'll enjoy this dish. Expect to pay more than most dumpling joints, averaging between $20-25 excluding drinks. The average $ of course depends on how many dumplings you choose to eat. read more

My love for this place has grown since my last review. I love dumplings is number one on my list of all things dumpling! Their szechuan pork and lamb steamed dumplings are so very delicious and I believe I have them about once a week. So basically I am going to turn into a dumpling soon, $10 for 15 of these sensational mouth watering dumplings #winning The bbq pork buns and peaking duck pancakes are also a very nice little entree before I devour my dumplings. The peanut spicy ribs are also a winner, but in order to eat these I have to lower my dumpling intake and this is just not something I am capable of doing. But just stood in the counter telling his workers to go speak to us instead. Paid for a fried powder coating dish for $19.80 with hardly any piece of meat in it. So, I've been coming here for the last six months. I went again last week, and they've obviously got more staff in, comfier chairs and the menus have changed. As in, they're the ones with photos of the food. Now, I'm all for sprucing things up. But what sucks is that they're not doing anything other than dumplings well. The dumplings are amazing. But the noodles SUCK. I had previously had Singapore noodles there, which were ok - but now they're not making them. The laksa is horrible. And I really wonder why they even bother, when it's so mediocre - spongy beef, thigh chicken, . Seriously, either do dumplings only, and reaaaaallly well, or pull the rest of the menu up to standard. Oh, and the wine list changed. Only one wine available by the glass, and they fill it ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP. Weird. I wish they'd look at what Laksa King does, and sort it out. read more

Mediocre food. Awful service. Decor and ambience that can't figure out what it wants to be. At least it was cheap. I'm not sure what else to say. The steamed pork buns were pretty good, I guess. They sell San Pellegrino, so that's always a good thing. And the bar looked full, if you want to get happy while you face the long wait for your food. Went here for a midweek lunch for a catch up with a friend at her suggestion. After reading the other reviews we decided to stick with what the name suggests and only ordered dumplings. We tried 3 types: the soup dumplings, the pan fried chicken & prawn dumplings and the boiled pork dumplings. All were a-ok. Nothing to rave about, but ok. Not the most amazing dumplings I have ever had but not terrible either. There is plenty of dipping sauce and chilli oil on the table for dunking your dumplings in. Service wasn't overly friendly, but not unexpected in this kind of place. Won't be rushing back - would rather save my dumpling eating for Hu Tong or similar instead. read more

Can't fault it. Had pork ribs covered in peanuts and prawn/chicken pan fried dumplings along with streamed rice. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere great. Service was efficient - probably not the best place for a long, lingering dinner. read more

We went to I Love Dumplings because of issues at the Richmond Union Bowling Club and our pre-ordered catering. The staff were more than happy to make dumplings for 30 people at a time. We didn't eat in because of the amount of people we had. Great dumplings! read more

I think this place is great for what it is, we had 2 different types of dumplings and some Peking duck pancakes. It's really clean, comfy chairs, nice staff. Dumplings are delicious, soupy ones were yummy & the pork and chicken in chilli oil were SO yum. Would go back for sure read more

Really cheap dumplings, great interior, friendly staff. Not the best vegetarian dumplings I've ever had, but my friends enjoyed their chicken dumplings, as well as the pork/eggplant dish. They didn't give us bowls for the sauce; we had to pour it onto plates and let it swish around, which was disappointing. When we asked for some bowls, they gave us one for the table. Very cheap though, and BYO. Probably won't visit again unless I was craving dumplings and specifically in the area. read more

I'm really surprised these reviews are so low, it's cheap and cheerful and does the job just fine. I would give them 3 and a half but feeling generous, like their dumpling servings, so four it is. I echo the thoughts of others in that I would definitely stick with the dumplings; we tried the spring rolls and chastised ourselves for that decision. But the dumplings are tasty, the chilli oil is a highlight and of course it's always time for pan fried pork with slurpings of soy and vinegar. read more

The actual premises is much nicer than you get going dirty dumpling style but the service is just as grumpy. HOWEVER, the dumplings make up for it. I will not vouch for their regular food because I haven't bothered trying it but them pork fried dumplings are damn good. And the price isn't bad either. read more

Something about this place doesn't do it for me. It's too Bridge Road and not enough Chinatown. Everything we ordered was decent, but no attention was paid to any of our food showing up at the same time. A couple times during the meal we had finished off the four or six dumplings we had, and would be waiting five or ten minutes waiting for more.
