My group and I had done a lot of escape rooms in the past, so take that into consideration for this review. We did the Matrix room, which is supposed to be the most difficult one with a 14% success rate. Overall, we felt like a lot of the puzzles were very linear in nature. So even with a larger group of 6 people, there were times where some of us didn't really have much to do. There wasn't a very strong storyline either, and a lot of the puzzles felt quite random as a result. The set design seemed very low budget and filled with many random objects, too. When we finally completed the mission, there was a unanimous feeling of "that's it?" Not a lot of puzzles in total. Host seemed to take his job seriously, so that's good. But I would recommend checking out another escape room in the city for your money. read more

My crony and I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and was able to get into their easiest room: Pirates on the Rocks. My friend and I have done a bunch of escape rooms in the past but are by no means experts. A majority of the puzzles involve finding combinations/keys for a bunch of padlocks. The game master was quite helpful. I really like how this room subverts tropes. In pretty much every room I've done, once you finish a room, there is no need to go back to the previous room. Not this room (it had 3 rooms). You have to go back to previous rooms to solve puzzles. Some of the puzzles or mechanisms didn't work as intended. I'd personally suggest having 4 people to do this and it was overall an average experience for $35.70. read more

Booked using a Living Social coupon. The coupon was for 4 persons and we paid for the extra persons. This was the first escape room experience for many in our group and it was a very positive and enjoyable experience for all. We booked Pirates on the Rocks. There were multiple rooms (do not want to give away the exact number for those interested) and so many twists and unique challenges that you are always thinking, looking at options with all persons in the group contributing. And thank you i-Exit for your hints...do not think we would have been successful without your assistance. The staff were great and very helpful. Came here on Thanksgiving Monday night hoping to look for an available room and were in luck that they weren't busy at the time. The guys at the front were super friendly and helpful in choosing a room and we decided to go with the Matrix since they said it was their most unique room. They were not kidding and it was kind of a tough room for us to get through. We didn't make it out but it was super fun and had some stuff I haven't seen in an escape room before. I would definitely come back here to try the other (easier) rooms, maybe with more people. read more

My first escape room experience. The staff were excellent. They were encouraging and complimentary and didn't come across as judgmental when explaining the parts that we didn't figure out. We did the music-themed room, which they warned us ahead of time was the hardest. It was harder than I expected, and we needed clues several times to advance. We didn't finish, which was okay because we were fairly proud of what we did accomplish. There were aspects of the room and props that felt 'homemade' - this is not a slick theme-park experience. Not sure what other escape rooms are like, so I don't have a comparison point here. This was a fun date night that allowed me and my partner to interact in a unique way. After my friend and me watched a horror movie "Escape Room", we decided to try here for our first real escape game. We used Groupon and it was really good deal. One hour game made me feel not enough because of fun! We were party of 6 and tried Vegas one. I liked the deco inside room. Small rooms very detailed. What I learned: you need lots of brainstorm. My husband and I did "The Doomed to Win in Vegas" last night (1/19/20) to redeem ourselves after the last Vegas room at another escape room company- lol. With only 33 seconds to spare, we escaped! Felix and staff were super friendly and we thought the flow of it all was very comparable/difficult to the other rooms we have done before. The puzzles were difficult enough where we had to use all our clues(4) but felt like morons after they told us, hahaha. In all honesty, would be good to have some updates in the room as some of the clues and props were a little bit warn out and outdated, but that is just me being a escape room snot and bumped my rating from 4 to 5! Bummed out they didn't offer to take a picture as the moment we walked out, we totally forgot! This room was about a 47% success rate of escaping, but heard the Pirates room had 62%. First timers might want to do Pirates or the Vegas room! Would come again to check out the other rooms the next time we visit Vancouver, BC. My first experience of escape rooms here in vancouver. Not too shabby. There was a bit of old materials in the room. We did the matrix and found that some of the items didn't open the way it normally would. It took a little bumping to get it opened. Otherwise, it was a great experience and Carl was such an amazing host. He made it very enjoyable to be there. read more

[Oscar-Nominated] I'm a sucker for room escape games. I can't get enough. It's been over a month without being locked in a room and I was itching. Fortunately, i-Exit (not to be confused with E-Exit) had a 6-player Groupon available so off I went with friends in tow. I-Exit occupies the second floor of a 2-storey building on the edge of the entertainment district. At the time of booking, there were three themes available to us - we opted for the music studio where we had to find the missing Oscar (shouldn't it be a Grammy?). We were given a total of 6, (yes, 6!) hints since we had the Groupon plus we all checked in on Yelp. We ended up using three and the 6 of us managed to escape this room with plenty of time to spare. So why only 3 stars? Let's start with the good: Puzzles - These were well done and logical. There wasn't anything fiendishly difficult that forced you use a hint. Many of our hints were a result of the 6 of us not communicating. Time and Hints - You're given 60 minutes unlike the usual 45 in the many other urban dungeons. They're generous with hints so if you're new at this (or haven't had your coffee), you'll be fine. Communications for hints is done through a 2-way radio (although there are microphones in the room). Now for the bad: Lack of a room timer - The one thing I value is being able to keep track of progress and to time our hint-usage. It's fortunate I had a watch or we may have used up the majority of the time stuck on a single puzzle. Prop quality - While the décor and props were appropriate for the theme, it felt a little tacky. Like stuff from the early 90's that were obtained through Craigslist type of tacky. Cost - At a regular price of $30 per person (we paid $19/person with our Groupon) i-Exit may very well be the most expensive room escape in the city. At the moment, i-Exit doesn't make it into my Top 5 as a room escape game. Despite this, it's still great fun in a convenient location and it's worth a try - but only with a Groupon. read more

After talking to some of my friends about sub-par experiences at this location I was a little tentative. But I'm on a mission to try all the escape rooms in Vancouver so I did what had to be done. My friends and I did the Pirate room. The rooms were bare except for what you had to use so that was a little disappointing. I didn't feel immersed in anything and that definitely takes away from the experience. The puzzles we had to solve clearly had some thought put into them as they were all different. I never felt like I was having to do the same puzzle twice which is refreshing. One thing I love about escape rooms is having to think out of the box and this room includes water (pirate themed- of course there would be water!) . Now as much as I love how cool water in escape rooms can be, I will never go around throwing water on things or in spaces because I don't want to get in trouble or ruin a room and have to pay a fee. As cool as the idea is, it's just a cheap way for clients to lose a clue/hint. Overall I did enjoy the room and they had some good puzzles. Not everything was a lockbox and for most things, teamwork was required. If you can go with a groupon though, I would definitely suggest it. at $30 a person, there could be a lot more going on. read more

Really fun and well-designed escape rooms! I came here with two friends, and we loved the experience so much that we decided to come back a second time a few days later. For our first time, we tried the Vegas escape room. I'd never tried an escape room before, but the staff explained the rules really clearly and gave us helpful hints at just the right places. Furthermore, the puzzles were all very logically planned out and difficult enough to be intriguing but not overly confusing or convoluted. The second time we came, we tried the Matrix escape room. Since I love computer science, I especially liked the concept of this particular escape room! With our previous experience from escaping the Vegas room, we were able to figure out the info we needed and solve the brainteasers a lot quicker. If you already have some experience with escape rooms, I would definitely recommend the Matrix! i-Exit is a great place to put your logic skills to the test and have fun with friends. You can really tell that a lot of care and effort was put into designing the rooms, and the friendly staff make the whole experience especially pleasant and enjoyable. read more

The Party at the Studio room at i-Exit is the 6th location and 8th room that I've done. Kind of hard to review for me. I found this similar to Smartypantz in that I can't actually fault the room or staff, but for whatever reason, I didn't find the room very enjoyable. I bumped up to a 3 star because the staff was really friendly and tried very hard to make it a good experience for us. Theme- finding a hidden Oscar (explained as an Oscar for score writing, which clears up the 'why isn't it a Grammy?' question) in a music studio. Most puzzles and props stuck to the theme/storyline well. Production Quality- pretty decent. Everything felt pretty realistic. As noted in other reviews, no timer inside the room, though they gave you a heads up every 15 minutes via walkie talkie. Puzzles- here's the tough category to review, since it's so subjective. The puzzles were logical and stuck to the theme well enough, but everything seemed to have just one extra catch that required us to use a hint. Frustrating. Hard to explain without giving spoilers, but I will say that for at least three of the puzzles, when the hint was explained, our first reaction was "But we did that already!!" and then it would turn out we didn't quite go far enough. So we were often on the right track but abandoned that line of thinking because there was an extra layer and no feedback to tell us we had at least partially solved something. Technically we solved the room, with the 4 hints and 5 extra minutes included in the Groupon, but we had to be nudged for just about every puzzle, and that was extremely unsatisfying. Staff- really good. Very friendly and helpful. Seemed concerned that we have a good time. Pricing- we used a Groupon, but regular price is $30 per person for 1 hour. And if you have less than 6 people you have to pay a surcharge to book the room as private, otherwise they can put another group with you. They're the only establishment I've been to so far that does this for a group of 4. Even with the Groupon we ended up paying just over $100 for the 4 of us to play on our own. I feel like this is coming off like I hated the room because we were too dumb to solve it, but I've also been in rooms where we were unsuccessful but still had a great time (Locked- Asylum and Lockdown- Prison Detective come to mind). Bottom line though, is that we didn't have fun. Between that and the pricing structure for booking out the room privately, I probably won't return. Overall experience/fun: 1. Guess HQ 2. Party At The Studio: It could have been nice to have more folks in here with us, but we still managed to succeed despite probably looking like fools while we stared at the unimportant things and missed the important ones. It was an interesting time, and we succeeded, but I think that it was a little less than enthusiastically. Theme:The room goes along very well with the back story for the room. Quality:Nicely built and maintained - we did have to try one or two things a couple of times. Difficulty:We had a hard time getting started, and even then things were very stop and go. I have a group of friends and I who have been through probably 9-10 escape rooms around the city together. We've seen a fair share of escape rooms, and we had gone to this one twice. The first time, we went into the music themed room. Rated as the highest in difficulty, we had trouble with this room for sure. Clues weren't intuitive and it became more frustrating than engaging. The storyline was only OK and we weren't impressed. No cool gadgets or clues or tactics needed. Straightforward patterns and locks were all we found. We didn't think we'd be back. Enter Groupon #2, and we were again convinced to try a different room. This time, it was a pirate theme. I found the room a bit more engaging but quite easy. We finished with 30 minutes to spare! Decor in the room was so minimal and was quite weak. Unfortunately the staff members didn't seem very interested in getting us engaged into the storyline. I had even heard a couple of deep sighs of frustration from the staff member watching the other groups and giving the teams clues right before we went in as well. I don't think we'll be back again - Groupon or not. read more

Fairly experienced escap-er checking in. We tried two rooms at i-exit with two different groups, Oscar and the pirates room. Oscar room was rated hard and pirates more for beginners. Without giving too much away, the rooms were fairly scarce with a few props here and there. Seen better in different escape rooms. There wasn't much of a storyline to follow in either room, we would have liked to be more engaged by the staff and brought in the mood of the theme. Based on our experience (have been to 10+ rooms, different ones around the city), we did not get our "escape fix" through I-exit. If you are trying it, would recommend going on a Groupon type deal. read more

A-okay First of all, I really liked how all the themes at this place are non-scary. However I do feel like we would've enjoyed the game more if we had a timer. We didn't know how much time was left, therefore whenever we get stuck, we asked for a hint. In the end, we had 22 minutes left. The glues and locks are really well designed, which was awesome. This was such a fun thing to do! We took a spontaneous trip to Vancouver and stumbled upon this escape game on Groupon. The groupon was only valid Sunday through Thursday and we were there on a Saturday but we figured why not? It was around $23 per person (we had a group of 4) and it was definitely worth that! It was something just different and fairly inexpensive compared to other escape rooms I've done. The clues were VERY abstract so you definitely had to think outside the box but the clues were helpful, anddd if you check in on yelp or Facebook you get an extra hint! I sort of wish they hadn't revealed sooo much before we got into the room but I'm not sure we would have known how to even start if they hadn't. We did the party at the studio with a 30% success rate and really liked the two-room puzzle. Apparently most of the other rooms have 3 rooms to figure out. Definitely worth a shot! We will probably be returning to try the Matrix room which has a 14% success rate! read more

I really enjoyed this experience. I came with a large group of people, so large in fact that we had to be divided into three teams and set into different rooms. One of the parties with me kept insisting we ask for a hint, which was incredibly annoying because the rest of us actually wanted a challenge. In the end, I was blown away by the intricacy of some of the puzzles and challenges. I thoroughly enjoyed working through the problems in the "Music Studio". And yes, we beat it. Wasn't really an escape - more of a treasure hunt with the reward of awesome music at the end. I'll be visiting again to partake in a different challenge! read more

Escape rooms are a great way to have some good clean fun with a group of friends!! ( teamwork ) This is only my second Escape room experience in Vancouver and I like this venue a lot more than the other one. When I called , the staff was very friendly and timely in answering my questions and making the reservations. I even got a birthday discount , very kind!!! Groupon does not apply on Fridays or Saturdays. We did the Vegas room and used up all of our HINTS with over 7 minutes to spare- not too bad! I recommend this theme , you go through 3 rooms and if you "hit the jackpot" you'll probably feel surprised / gratification . I heard the Matrix theme is the most complicated , we might try that next time. Highly recommend you have at least one person in your group who isn't an Escape room Virgin ( it will be more efficient, less fumbling). I wish they had props for a fun Victory picture!!! read more

4 levels of escape games (60 mins) at easy, medium, hard and hardest. We did hardest and beat it right at the buzzer! Only 14% of teams (2-6 people did). We did use the 4 + 1 free tip mid game for a FB/Yelp checkin to help us, but we still won the "Matrix" theme. Super fun and worth the $30 CAD. read more

I went with a friend and tried the Las Vegas theme, and felt like James Bond. It was such a brain teaser and used both of our strength in order to solve the mystery. It was definitely a team building experience where we must communicate effectively, collaborate, brainstorm together. It was SOOO MUCH FUN! The urgency of 1 hour to solve the mystery, and so many unexpected twists and turns. I highly recommend it and have been telling everyone! Great staff, awesome place, easy to find street parking. Had such a great time at i-Exit. I'm a huge fan of escape games, and have a pretty high standards over the quality of the rooms. This place blew my mind away. We scored an excellent Groupon deal ($40 for two people, 1 hour game play with extra time, and an extra hint). The staff was very nice and friendly; he gave us a very clear rundown of the instructions. The rooms were nicely decorated with great attention to detail, and high quality props and devices. The puzzles were very logical, and the solutions were never overly complex or frustrating. There was also a good balance between mechanical and electrical puzzles. We managed to escape and had a really great time! We will come back soon to try the Pirate room! It's next on our list! read more

We did both the Pirate room and the Vegas room with just two people. The decor in both rooms was fantastic, and the puzzles made great use of technology (particularly in the Vegas room). We didn't manage to escape either one in time--having at least one more person would definitely have helped as there were some time-consuming puzzles in each room that required both of us to complete. If you make good use of your hints and don't spend too much time chasing after red herrings, though, escaping with two people should be pretty doable. This was my third escape room experience and one of my favorites! I came with my wife and we worked our way through the casino experience. It was divided up into three different rooms which added to the pressure. The props were all pretty high quality as well. We managed to get out with just 3 minutes to spare! I have never experienced an escape room before, but my boyfriend and I had a great time at this particular one! I like how the clues and puzzles were difficult but not so difficult that we weren't able to finish the game. Granted, the gentleman at the front desk was extremely patient and helpful with his clues. If our stay wasn't so short, I would definitely be begging my bf to do one of the other rooms! read more

This place was amazing. My friends and I had so much fun and we are definitely going back. The owner super nice and welcoming. The place itself had a very nice waiting area with hangers so we didn't have to take our coats with us. The game itself was amazing. The puzzles were just the perfect challenge.
