Over priced. Paid for 7 people but only 6 ended up coming. I was told they could not provide a refund which I was okay with as long at we still received the smash items for 7 people. They only gave us 6 glass jars for each and 2 computer screens. That's it. The head gear is broken and so damaged you can't see through the shields. Some of the gloves have holes in them and the glass gets through. The room has not been emptied out in forever and you can barely move around. I paid nearly $300 for this and was extremely disappointed. Avoid this place and save your money. read more

It's great that they open late and have a flexible schedule. However, we felt as the staff did not want to be working and felt like an inconvenience to them. They were on the phone, shouting and pacing around the lobby with head phones in. The room itself was well organized and interesting however, some of the equipment did not work very well. I had really high expectations for this escape room because of the Yelp reviews and how nicely the lobby was decorated. I came with a group of 4 to do the LOST escape room and we were all really disappointed. Compared to other escape rooms I've done, there were barely any puzzles to do and for half the time, one of us was separated from the rest of the group and had to solve puzzles on their own without being able to really communicate with the other group. In a boring Sunday evening , we decided to get some fun by trying this escape room. The decor and the atmosphere in the reception were really appealing . We have tried the cave of wonders as we were told it wasnt too complicated. The room was well themed as well as the background music etc...To be honest the clues were bit annoying rather than fun ( we had to shake some stuff to get the key out of it , had to run from a room to another ,drop some coins inside a boring pattern...etc) and also a lot of useless things that had no reason to be in there. In short we have been in many many other escape rooms but this one was the least fun one... maybe we will come back and choose another theme hoping that will make the experience more enjoyable read more

tldr; Play Resident Evil for theme. Would otherwise recommend Atlantis over Resident Evil. 4/5 Theme - Atlantis only started to feel like Atlantis at the 3rd room (of 4). Resident Evil visuals were pretty good, but got extremely agitated about the endless zombie sounds in the last room. 4/5 Puzzles - Atlantis was excellent with exception to one clue where someone before us had written wrong/misleading information upon a tablecloth. Hopefully they have removed this since. Resident Evil was okay. 5.5/5 Staff - The staff's aim was clearly for us to have fun and do well. They went above and beyond my expectation in how far they'd go to achieve this. Recommendation to Exit: Allow players to take photos with some of the items instead of victory/played signs. We didn't request this, but it would enhance the customer experience while not really giving anything away to viewers. read more

I had a very disappointing experience today(August 15) at your Richmond Headquarters. I called in on May 31st to make a booking for your limited time outdoor murder mystery escape room for a group of 6 people. I got the early bird tickets, and was looking forward to this day as it was a special get together for my group. We saw that you had an advertisement for a kickstart event on Eventbrite, and we jumped to support our local business. I even called in a few days ahead to confirm our booking to ensure everything was in order for our day. When we arrived today at 4pm, we were told that our "room" was given to a group of walkin's just before us and they had beat the room, therefore there won't be a grand prize for us. Our group didn't mind as we were strictly there for the outdoors experience, but to our surprise we were still rejected the outdoor room. Your staff offered us a discount today, but there weren't anyway to apply a discount on our prepaid early bird tickets. We ended up using our tickets for an average room that is offered on the daily bases in your facility. We purchased early bird tickets and booked in 3 months in advanced, and was still unable to get what we paid for. Even though our group tried to make the best out of the situation it is still very disappointing. I felt it was extremely unreasonable for us to pay for something we didn't want to do, because our space was offered to walkin's. I have been contacting their facility for the past week and a bit on all social media platforms and they still have not responded. They have not offered to give us a proper explanation as to why our spot for this limited time event was offered to walkin's whist we booked in 3 months in advanced. read more

I'm obsessed with escape rooms. I had gone through all the available rooms at my favorite place so my group gave Exit a shot and it was fun! It has a cool dragon and weapons on display in the lobby which really adds to the vibe. We did the Atlantis themed room which was awesome. The setup was really detailed and immersive (cool props and lights and such). The puzzles were cool and we had so many "AHA!" moments we all have come to love with escape rooms. We managed to escape but it's also the easiest room out of the lot (and it was still fairly difficult!). I'd give this place five stars but I hate their hint system and we had some serious issues in our room. They have a system where you carry an iPad around with you that displays your current objective, time remaining, and gives you the option to get hints for your objectives or type a direct question and receive an answer from the staff. This is cool in theory but it also kind of sucks because you have an extra thing you have to carry around with you from room to room. It's a pro and a con. Also, you PAY TIME TO GET HINTS WHICH I HATE. The time cost of each subsequent hint doubles. "Buying" hints seems cheap (since they have the option to sell you more time..) especially since they only give you a measly 45 minutes to the hour that other places give (it's more expensive here too!). So if you end up asking for two hints your play time goes down to 39 minutes.. One of our puzzles wasn't checked/reset correctly so we wasted a lot of time trying to solve a puzzle that wasn't solvable as it was. Exit was fun and I'd love to try all of the rooms but not sure if I can stomach the money-grabbing ploy of spending time to get hints. If they did the standard 2 hints that most places do (minus the time charge pls) I'd say the room and puzzle quality is a solid 5 stars. (PS the women's bathroom is weird. There are two stalls even though it looks like there is only one. Also the door swings inwards and takes up the entire bathroom as it swings..). read more

We booked the Lost theme. The puzzles were fun. But the experience sucks. I probably wouldn't came back here again. When we went in the room. Some doors that suppose to be locked were open. And we didn't know they are suppose to be lockedZ So we jumped ahead and solved the puzzle supposed to be solved later on, and had to redo some parts and solve the puzzle backwards. And the guy suppose to make sure the doors are locked since the beginning just took it so lightly... this whole thing ruined the experience. We didn't feel very accomplished after we solved the puzzle. Even though we did finish them all, but in the wrong order. It just sucks... read more

Overall good experience here! Price is on the higher side for escape rooms but decorations are pretty cool. I loved that they now offer the option of adding minutes (for extra $$$), but we all know how precious minutes are and how frustrating it can be to be SO CLOSE to the finish line! Girls - wear leggings/pants, as there may be some climbing involved. Room for improvement: - Some of the puzzles I felt were there just to waste time. Please keep decipher puzzles short and sweet as longer ones add no pleasure to the game play, or offer paper and pencil to use! Under pressure our memories don't work that well. :) - Rooms are connected, which means items you gain from room 1 could be used for room 3. I have no problem with that - except it's hard to run around very fast when you have to be physically nimble to move through each room. read more

Lobby is really nice and that's about all this place has going for it. I've had many experiences with other escape rooms in this city (G.U.E.S.S. HQ, Find and Seek, Locked Canada, SmartyPantz). My group also did the Volcanic mine and had the exact same experience as Martin B. (see his post on 4/18/2016) and will not be returning to this location. Their puzzles don't make any sense based on basic science or logic. The room is filled with "red herrings" that just waste your time and money. Save yourself the $30 and go to the casino next door. You'll probably have more luck winning there. read more

This was my first escape room experience. We chose the LOST room as a group of 3. The staff were pretty friendly, though the poor guy at desk was left alone to manage both our group's start, and another group's finishing up. The lobby area looks really cool with neat props, as well as the hallways leading to the rooms. However, once we got inside the actual room, it felt extremely dusty and dirty, to the point one of my party members felt their nose and throat being irritated during the game. We wondered if it part of the theme as it was a plane crash setting, but when you see huge dust balls rolling on the floor where there are areas you want to crawl, it feels pretty disgusting, and you know it hasn't been cleaned in a while. There is an area where items are scattered on the floor, and I did not want to touch things, as they were all lying on dust, small rocks, and other debris. I feel like the inside of the rooms should be cleaned regularly, even if it's dark and supposed to be "unorganized" while in use during the day. The room looked pretty cool otherwise, though some parts were broken/handles falling off. In the room, they forgot to put back an essential part of our puzzle after the group before us in the very beginning, so we ended up keep wondering if we were missing another part as we went through. They gave us extra time for that, but in the end we got hungry and didn't have the right mindset to finish the game. Previous reviews mentioned you need to "pay" for hints with time, that is no longer the system in place. I had watched the promotional video on their website, and thought there would be more ambience added with audio in the room, but the first area was silent and didn't build up any excitement. Since this is my first time doing this type of entertainment, I don't know if this is common or not. The story and clues were pretty interesting, but the rest of my experience was lacking. My entrance fee was free, as it was my birthday, but I felt bad that my friends paid $33 for an unsatisfactory evening. read more

This E-Exit is awesome! Their staff are really friendly and helpful and the rooms that they have are awesome! The rooms are high quality equipment, decorations and puzzles. They can definitely be challenging, but that's part of the fun. The themes are cool and the adventure format of having a user card with points and a record of which games you've completed is not only useful, but addictive! My friends and I are on our way to collecting all six weapons from each room to be able to unlock the final theme room! read more

This was the fifth escape room we have been to and the first one at E-Exit. Walking into the E-Exit lobby was very impressive. The dragon and everything in the lobby was really cool. After checking in we completed our account signup and then were taken into the theatre for our walk-through. I thought we were in for a wild ride since the chairs seemed like they were shaker 4-day chairs or something, but it was just a standard movie. We then walked up to our escape room, which was the Volcanic Mine. Seeing the setting in the lobby and the cool weapons and touch screen I was expecting a really impressive experience. Instead, we walked into a drywalled room, with a cheap clamshell DVD player sitting on a box, some small rocks scattered across the corners of the room, there were some mining tools and then there was this big silver safe door, which just felt out of place. There was also a gold computer terminal on one wall, but that did nothing and just seemed out of place. We spent about 17 minutes on the first puzzle and ultimately had to call for a hint. We had to mix colours in order, with no clue that would drive you to that. At one point we had to get the colour black, but there was no combo to create a black colour. At this point I was almost ready to walk out cause I just felt ripped off. Anyways, the hint got us through that first puzzle, then the next puzzle was dead simple. Which then led us to our third puzzle where an iron plate almost dropped on our feet since it was only being held up with a tiny finishing nail. Anyways, enough about the gameplay. Overall the story was weak, the puzzles just seemed random and didn't tie into the theme right, and it seems like they spent more on the lobby design and build, than they did on creating amazing experiences in their escape rooms. And don't even get me started on their silly scoring system that had me log out on the login terminal. I certainly hope their other rooms are better, but I likely won't be visiting another exit location. read more

LOST (plane crash) Because everything is so precise we were unable to get as far as we felt we should have. We feel that if you figure out what is wanted then the room escape should help out. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to ruin the experience for someone else. eg one thing had to be held in position for 5 seconds without touching any lines. We never could get it to stay in place for that long so our time ran out quickly. There was also not enough for our group of 4 to do at the same time. While one person was working on something the rest were just waiting for direction. The cost of minutes for hints was a nice feature rather than a maximum number of hints. This was my first escape room. I was with other family members that had done escape rooms before so we went for one of the most challenging rooms. Overall Place was well kept. Clues were difficult. Scene stages were well thought out. Downside some of the props were worn out "numbers " and some hanging props had fallen. We were determined to escape so we paid for another extended time period. The only thing I could say about this business is that the 45 minute time to finish a puzzle wasn't enough, 1 hour- 1 hour 15 minutes seems more reasonable, the puzzles are very tricky, especially if you are resistant to use the 3 hint provided. The least busiest location! Has some crazy cool dragon decor in the main lobby that really Adda a great touch to the game. The way they set up the games has you keep coming back to Exit because it's really like an RPG. The more you play, the more you level up your character, and the more higher level escape rooms you can do! The escape rooms are challenging and fun. The special effects and decor really make it a notch better than those other escape rooms in Vancouver! read more

We tried virtual reality today with my children , pricing didn't make any sense , you are charged per person even though there is only one headset, and we all had to share . Firstly, I do have to give this Exit location kudos for having some of the best props and set-up that I have seen in an escape room (we did the Lost theme). Unfortunately that is the only good thing I could say about our experience here. I have been to other escape rooms (Locked Canada, Lockdown, Guess HQ, Broadway Exit location) and this one was by far the most frustrating. I get that puzzles are supposed to be challenging and it's not the first time our group has been stumped. However, you know something must be wrong when the solution still doesn't make sense after the employee explains after time runs out. It didn't help that the employee rudely dismissed our critique of the puzzle when we explained why it didn't seem to make sense. Even assuming that our entire group was just dumb and didn't understand the puzzle that stumped us, their hint system is extremely frustrating. Every hint you use costs increasing amounts of time, and you have to use their convoluted iPad hint system which doesn't even necessarily answer the exact question you have. I would recommend staying away until they change at least the hint system. read more

The room was extremely nice & life like. My group did the LOST room & have no complaints on anything about the room itself. Our only problem was when we asked for a hint, the employee did not even know how the "puzzle" we were working on, so we wasted almost 10 minutes of our time trying to solve it, in the end he had to ask another employee to come help him. I have been to other Exit company locations and had an awesome experience, but unfortunately this location has terrible customer service. I took 4 friends who had never done an exit room before and did the Lost room. Many parts of the room weren't working properly and we had to call down for help and wait for a person to come multiple times. It was a huge waste of our 50 minutes. They gave us extra time after each visit, but having broken features meant that most of the aspects ended up having to be skipped. After the whole hour of things not working, we did not receive even an apology, we were just retrieved from our room and sent out. I had intended to show my group how fun Exit rooms are, but I am sure they will not be going back. read more

I've been to quite a few escape rooms. Exit garden city was one of the first I visited and I really enjoyed that experience. I was really excited when I heard about the concept of exit beckwith. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. We were expecting a more immersive experience but we found it wasn't much different than any other escape room. The puzzles were very obscure and finicky which really took away from the experience. Overall it was a disappointment. This experience was some time ago so things may have improved since...
