There were only two of us, but we do a lot of escape rooms, so it seemed okay for us to do. There were only two people staffed, and I think one left while we were in the room. The room was really fun, and the mechanisms quite cool! I do love an escape room that has a lot of gadgety-tech things instead of key locks. (This place specializes in electronics and magnets, it seems.) Because the rest of the rooms were still empty and it was still a couple hours prior to closing and we had no other plans AND this escape room was SO cheap esp compared to the ones in SF/Seattle... we decided to just also do the other two rooms XD Both were also very fun! The sacred treasure (? the japanese themed one) had an Extremely Extra mechanism in it. I think the only puzzle(s) I didn't like in the place were a dexterity game (partner had to do it) in the Japanese room and a similar electronic game in the Mayan room. Everything else was very fun to do/interact with. I'd recommend this place for sure! They have some parking out front, which is quite convenient. The staff was super friendly. When we asked about the two hint rule, they did say they weren't all that serious about it. (We didn't use them, but it's good to know!)

It was super easy to book one of the escape rooms through the website and you don't have to pay in advance. It was also easy to get to the building and they have a parking lot in front. We were originally going to do "Sacred Treasure", but something was wrong with the room, so we switched to "The Prophecy" instead. The owner was our guide and he explained the rules to us. He also did a great job of checking in on us during the game and giving us hints. We enjoyed our experience so much that we immediately did another room, "Sorcerer's Quest". In the end, I preferred "Sacred Treasure", but both rooms were good. We attempted both rooms with only two people. We needed extra time in order to finish, but I bet a group with more people could escape in time. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience I would recommend this place to others.

As a manager of a seasoned tech team, I'm always hunting for engaging challenges--and this is hands down the gold standard in Vancouver. We brought a group of 10, and I was so impressed by the intentional design. Usually, with a large group, you run into "too many cooks in the kitchen," but the abundance of clever, parallel challenges meant our group could split into smaller teams and stay fully engaged from start to finish. The production value is incredible; the environment is so responsive that it feels like genuine magic. What really moved us, though, was the hospitality. The Find and Seek staff went out of their way to include a subtle nod to a specific fandom as part of a farewell for someone leaving our team. Their thoughtfulness and organization made the moment work perfectly, taking the experience to a heartwarming personal level we didn't expect. It was fantastic to see everyone collaborating on such creative, tactile puzzles--we are so glad we picked this creative team to host us. They didn't just provide an escape room; they helped us create a lasting memory. 10/10!

That same group was also a haggle of giggly 12 year olds who ended up taking lots of selfies after they failed their escape room. Secondly, I was able to secure a time to play the day before which gave me the (inaccurate) assumption that this place isn't popular. On my way to my group's escape room, I passed by the new room Assassin, but apparently it was only available in Chinese so not open to the public yet. [Vampire Hunter] My team and I decided to go a scarier route this time around. I wasn't too clear about the mission, the storyline was there for sure, but a tad convoluted - it had something to do with a human wanting to become a vampire, but at the same time, we had to hunt and kill the vampire. We were lead into the starting room which was bigger than the room at Locked Canada. I have to admit, I was pretty stuck for some of the challenges, but the game master was very helpful. Unlike Locked Canada where the gamemaster gave hints that themselves needed deciphering, the game master at Mr. J actually gave good hints and spent the time ensuring we got the hint before leaving. It was very nice of him and made me instantly feel like Mr. J cared for its players. Previous reviewers mentioned the mechanical aspect of things and they couldn't be more accurate! Compared to GuessHQ, this was even more fun because things opened where you didn't expect them to open. I actually screamed and jumped because I got startled from a few of these mechanical movements which weren't in themselves scary. My team and I had great laughs chatting about our startled moments afterwards since none of the other escape rooms we've visited gave me that experience - I love Mr. J! Only thing that could be better was the storyline but the existing storyline was better than Locked Canada and TIXE already so...really not that bad. Prop was superb, but not as cinematic as GuessHQ's The Heist. The last part of the challenge was well suited for the men in my group. They really had fun at Mr. J and my group conquered this room and definitely will be coming back to try another room! Remember how I assumed Mr. J wasn't popular in the beginning? When my group and I finished our game, we saw tons of people waiting outside to begin the game. This place is popular. Try it!

[Tomb Raider] An…read moreimpulsive Groupon purchase brought our group of 6 to Mr.J last Saturday evening. This was my 20th room escape at various places around the city and while the novelty still endears, I've become quite critical of puzzle logic, prop quality, and ambience. That said, Mr.J does things differently - some good and some less so.   The general format is the same: you're left in a room (or rooms) and through a series of puzzles, you must find a way out. Mr.J allows for 50 minutes and 2 hints - no surprise here. After a half-hearted briefing, we were left to our own devices. The one thing I liked most was the fact that almost everything was mechanically or electrically triggered. There was almost no combination locks which really gets you thinking outside the box instead of looking around for random numeric codes. Room design and prop quality was also well done. The puzzles were fun to solve and most were quite logical but I felt the quantity of puzzles could've been increased.  There wasn't much to buildup the story other than the quick 1-minute briefing to put the whole experience in context but you get the general idea once you're inside.   The Lost Tomb theme wasn't overly difficult and we were able to solve it in the allotted time. (Technically, we were in the midst of opening the final door and they let us have an extra 2 minutes to finish what we were doing) There's also the option to add additional time at a cost. It didn't seem like there was a set pricing structure but it's an option that could help you sleep better at night. The Lost Tomb is difficult enough for both veteran Houdinis and newcomers alike. At a retail price of $30 per person, it's a tad spendy. However, at a Groupon price of $15, this makes for a fun team-based experience. So how does it stack up to the competition? Top 5.

Apparently there are many bad escape rooms around Vancouver but Pandora's Locks is definitely one of the good ones. We were able to reach the owner through the group chat and he offered us to beta test their new room free of charge, which we gladly accepted. We set up the appointment for the 2 rooms, as booking is generally required for escape rooms. The first room we tried that day was their beta testing room, Where's Becky, which is 80s themed in a girl's bedroom. Even though the room only has 1 room, unlike many of the other escape rooms I tried that have multiple areas, the storyline was definitely really interesting and it slowly unfolded as you solve more puzzles. Since the room was still in beta many of the features were unpolished, but it allowed us the opportunity to provide suggestions which was pretty cool. You can definitely tell the owner is really passionate about creating his escape rooms and he prides himself on creating a rich backstory for the setting. He told us he would never put combination locks in his rooms as he wants his mechanics to be interesting. The second room we tried was their most popular room, the Vault 405. The price was $25/person with tax included and they accept credit card. This room is set in a futuristic post-apocalypse vault and you're job is to get the machines to work. Similar to Where's Becky, there is only 1 room in the entire place but there were a lot of puzzles to solve to get to the ending. Some mechanics were cool and overall the puzzles were logical to solve and would lead to the next puzzle. We had to utilize the hint a few times as this room definitely felt more difficult than Becky's, and their policy is that they offer unlimited hints. And how can you end an escape room experience without taking some pictures? They have a few props for you to hold along with a few signs with funny/whitty phrases. Overall the experience was awesome and it was great chatting with an escape room owner who's passionate at creating the best experience for his customers

The rooms are otherwise very well done. As with most escape rooms, they have a great online scheduling system. You pay when you get there (this was definitely a first for me). Trapped had very competitive pricing, probably the lowest we've ever paid for an escape room of this calibur. Remember to like their Facebook page and share their promo video for a discount! Although we put them in place at the outset, all those with glasses all agreed that the googles still moved regardless of how tight we had them.
