The condensation pump to my apartment furnace recently went on the fritz and so I contacted I & C Mechanical to get a possible replacement and since I am out of town. I also figured that since I am having someone come, I would also have them service my furnace. This seemed very straight forward to me. The pump with an issue is a small unit that is located on the side of the furnace. To my knowledge, all that is needed is to unplug the old and plug in the new one. A new pump retails for about $45. If I were at the apartment at this time, I would certainly do it myself. Anyway, I am totally willing to pay for someone to change the unit and have my furnace checked. I thought this was a pretty easy request, but I was wrong. I & C responded that they would charge $245 for the first hour of the installation of the pump plus the parts. This seemed like a lot to pay for someone to plug something into a wall but I figured that I would at least get someone to check my furnace within that hour - nope they won't do that. To check the furnace they would charge an additional $245 for the first hour. So what could literally be a 25-minute job, plug in the pump, and check my one-bedroom furnace would cost $490 in labor + plus the parts. Their pricing is ridiculous and they couldn't clearly explain how it made any sense. Buyer beware, do a little research before you hire someone, and be careful that they don't charge you $245 per "task". read more

I&C Mechanical came over twice for water leaking from a shower. The first time they identified a problem and fixed it, but said that it might not have been the culprit, I should wait for it to dry, and then if it still leaked to call them back. It was still leaking so I called them back to do more extensive work which fixed the problem. I would ask about the pricing as it was not transparent. I was told over the phone the hourly rate before he came the first time. This is what I was charged for the first visit. The 2nd time he came, after the work was done, I was charged a much higher hourly rate, which was his rate + the assistant's rate. He did not mention this over the phone, he gave me a flat hourly rate. He said that he did not charge me the assistant's rate the first time because it was really a one-person job, but I had no way of knowing this and had 2 confirmations on what I thought the rate was - what I paid the first time and what he told me the rate was over the phone before the visit. From the paperwork it is not clear that the technician and the apprentice hourly rates are additive. Also he did not tell me that there was a travel charge. So the hourly rate he gives is not the true rate. They round up in half-hour increments. The quality was good, he explained how a previous person did an incorrect job installing the pipes. read more

We had a leaking toilet issue that needed to be addressed that same day. He came out the very day we called (a horribly rainy marathon day nonetheless) and stayed past his regular working hours to make sure we had a working toilet. We ended up having to replace the whole toilet. I'm pretty sure he gave us a deal on the price too. He was very kind and professional and also did a great job with a not-great situation. We had a problem with our Navien water heater contacted three separate companies one of them never showed up, the other two took whole week repair attempts and wasted my $675.00 top of being without hot water. I finally found these guys and the problem turned out to be outside the unit and it was relatively easy to fix . I rarely write reviews or have time, but felt it was necessary to do so for I & C Mechanical. After a stressful frozen pipe and water leak, unresponsive plumbers or plumbers who quoted way too much for work, I was shocked by what I&C provided. Immediately he picked up the phone (that in itself is was rare - and I called twice and he picked up both times!), I did not expect to get an appointment for days/weeks (based on some of the others I had called), but I&C said they would come out first thing in the morning and did not hesitate to give me their pricing information when asked. They arrived early/on time next morning, was professional with paperwork and explaining things, and went right to work. It was so nice to not be "used", I could tell how some of the other contractors marked up their prices, but they don't know that I come from property management and knew better! He provided updates to me throughout the work, and even pointed out flaws and concerns on what others may have done wrong which he fixed. The work was done efficiently and perfectly and I couldn't be more happy with their service! Getting HONEST work nowadays is hard, so I am very grateful and thankful to I & C Mechanical for getting my house back to normal, and in probably better condition than ever! read more

We had an emergency in our house - the heating system shut off and some of the pipes froze and exploded. I&C Mechanical provided a great service. They responded quickly and saved me a lot of hassle, because the situation was getting worse every minute. Not only they brought back the heating system, but also provided the fix for other issues that were found to be a cause of shutdown. Irfan and his assistent arrived on time, worked very hard until the last issue was resolved. They were very polite and made sure that every little detail was covered. I came down to my basement on Sunday afternoon and there was water everywhere. I discovered that my water heater had sprung a leak. I went on line to find an emergency plumbing and heating organization. Saw Irfan and I & C Mechanical and called. Irfan is the owner. He answered the call. He answered all of my questions and asked me to send pictures of the issue and type of tank. He was professional, respectful, responsive, even on a Sunday evening. He managed to give me an estimate that was comparable to everything I read on line, and he came out the next day with his assistant to install the new water heater. He called ahead to tell me what time he'd be at my house. He was even earlier than he planned. Completed the job in the time he estimated and charged me a reasonable rate. In a day and age where it is often difficult to get skilled laborers to call back (because there is such a shortage of skilled and reliable laborers), it was incredible to have this experience with Irfan and I&C Mechanical. Irfan is kind, hard-working and loves the work he does. I look forward to working with him in the future for the replacement of my boiler/furnace, and knowing that I have a reliable plumbing and heating person in case of emergencies too is an incredibly helpful. read more
