There is a nice curve at the entrance that will do a lot to help slow people down. There is very little cover so if it's hot, you're not going to find shade for a nap. I did not see any signs prohibiting overnight parking so if you're tired, don't drive sleepy and stop here. We did not go inside for the restrooms. Lots of area to walk on paved paths if u r in the mood for a walk. Inside one of the buildings are exhibits and vending machines. Think this was expertly designed to allow folks to wander around the site and get the blood pumping and reinvigorate folks to avoid from driving fatigue. And it's cute too! Both locations have clean restrooms, an indoor museum, and beautiful outdoor walkways. However, this location has larger shaded bench areas and even a playground for the kids. If you'd prefer to take a break away from the elements, they have comfortable seating inside with a built-in outlet too. This is the best rest stop I have come across. Walker County's stop comes in at a close second. I can't wait for the day AmTrak pulls through with a Houston-Dallas high speed rail line, but I appreciate the effort that went into this impressively-designed stop in the meantime.

The rest area features a really nice playground and a large building that has wifi, vending machines, places to sit (with power outlets!) and very clean restrooms. The check in was easy, the room was decent-clean and the beds were comfortable. The shower worked great and they had a great mirror to do your makeup. The only downside was that there was some sort of crazy loud disturbance in the middle of the night that we could hear through the walls. And that the Netflix didn't work on the tv and you couldn't cast it but a lady came to try and fix it and she was very sweet but couldn't get it to work. Overall a solid 4 out of 5.

When the thing kicked on it sounded like a big rig falling apart and you can only imagine this every 15 minutes or so. Even though this hotel sits off the interstate behind another building you can still hear the traffic. The room rate was $95 and by 4 am after no sleep I gave up and left. Do yourself a favor and pass on by.
