Disappointing Stay - Poor Service and bad attitudes
While Hotel Champs-Élysées offers historic charm our week-long stay (costing over $3,000) was ruined by atrocious service and rudeness.
The front desk staff--particularly one male employee--was arrogantly rude and contemptuous throughout our visit. He never greeted us, and when we brought empty water bottles down to the desk, he dismissively snapped, "What do you want me to do with these?" Later, after we asked him to book private transport, he failed to do so entirely. Luckily, a different clerk sorted it out at the last minute. Having spent 30 years in hospitality, I found his behavior shocking and unacceptable.
The property is also poorly maintained:
* Elevator mirrors and general area moldings were noticeably dirty and streaky.
* Flickering lightbulbs in our room had to be unplugged.
* Breakfast was at times chaotic, with tables left un-bussed and a complete lack of clean plates.
Only three staff members were polite and helpful; the rest were deeply disappointing.
We have travel Europe for decades and have never run into this type of unprofessional behavior. For the price, we regret staying here and would not recommend it. read more
