Yes, I agree with much of the bad reviews. I have spent so much money with this dentist. All my estimates were on paper, no print out. I called my dental insurance and was told he had not filed a claim for me in four years. When they contacted him asking for information on the work he done he never responded. This guy has a reputation for over charging, rushing thru procedures and fraud, I was warned too late, figured oh im just getting a cleaning...go there and the staff acts like the just started working today, unorganized confused no one seemed to know who was doing what. Dr.Hyun, ordered xrays, then talked me to death about playing basketball ( because Im black?) Then looks at my xrays and tells the front desk clerk to write down all these procedures he claims i need,as I attempt to ask questions he continuously cuts me off telling me that he cant do a cleaning because of time..1hr.+ of him trying to load up a follow up, this guy should be investigated for his business practices.I was warned too late BEWARE dont go here. read more

Dr. Daniel Hyun apparently called in sick on the day my Sister was to have all her top teeth pulled and getting her new appliance. I drove 7 hours to come to Lompoc to help her while she was down and recovering. Not only did did we not get a phone call, but the door was locked and after looking through the curtains we were let in. The woman ie scheduler was extremely rude and almost confrontational about the Doctor possibly working the next day as we could see his schedule was open after noon. The woman was very aggressive slamming the pages back and forth stating "what do you want just pick one" I told her we understand the Dr. was ill but we were trying to get in as I was very far from home. So in a nutshell, STAFF is in no way, kind, caring helpful.. it's pretty sad! read more

I made an appointment for my Participant at 10 am it is 10:37 and we are still waiting. What's the whole point of making appointments if they are still going to make you wait this long. It's not like this office is nice and clen. The building is old the furniture is old and it's not clean at all. The nurses are all talking and chatting about their weekends and how they gone to the new store I town. Oh boy never again will I bring my clients here. read more

WORST DENTIST AND PERSON!!!! I scheduled with Dan HYun because it was the only office I found that was open sundays. I had no dental insurance and the office claimed to help apply for care credit, when I got there they told me I had to pay, and their payment plan was only 1/2 the same day and 1/2 the next appointment. I was having so much pain, he convinced me to get a root canal and a wisdom tooth extraction which I had done the same day. He charged me over $2000. 11months later, my pain continued I called several times, left messages and I was told he would return my call. After 3 days of no answer and with the worst horrible pain I went back, his first words to me were " I did nothing wrong", he refused to do a retreat and gave me a referral to a specialist. I called different endodontics and most of them stated It was not right to have everything done at the same time including my crown. Also, i was told in other offices that when this happens, they do a retreat at no charge. I noticed from the x rays, that he perforated my tooth, this is why he refused to do the retreat. I went to a different place, had the retreat and paid again this time $1000. Worst Dentist ever!!!!! Hyun Daniel was rude, unprofessional and does not care about his patients. I took my son here to have his teeth checked. Luckily he is not my dentist. While I was seating in one of the rooms, with the door open, I saw him going in and out of every room taking his gloves off and putting a new one for the next patient. He did not wash his hands in between. You can see the powder on both hands, and he is touching your teeth/mouth!? I work in medical field also, and we are required to wash our hands or use the alcohol. This dentist did not even use anything to clean his hands. Yuck! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Do your mouth a favor cancel your appointment and run! Dr. Hyun has one of the worst bedside manners I have ever encountered in a Dr. He is rude, unhygienic, condescending and rushed. He still uses outdated mercury containing metal fillings and he is extremely heavy handed even through the Novocaine! The experience I had getting fillings was the worst of my life in all aspects. After visiting Dr. Hyun I moved and went to an out of town Dentist. My new Dentist was appalled at Dr. Hyuns work, so much so that he replaced the messy, rushed, botched, metal fillings with professional grace. He aslo informed me that the work preformed by Dr. Hyun was some of the worst he had come across. All in all if you value your mouth get out! read more

Does poor quality work and runs a bait and switch scam on his patients. Accepts insurance for initial exam only and then charges inflated prices for follow up treatments which are unnecessary and not covered by insurance. This dentist should not be allowed to practice because he is inhumane. Instead of fixing my teeth he caused more damage just in order to charge more money. He drilled into a tooth that didn't have any problems and now the tooth is ruined and needs a crown for which he quoted me $3000. He took about 30 x-rays most of which were unnecessary. He doesn't follow patient instructions or respect their wishes about treatment but just does whatever he feels like in order to charge more money. He doesn't explain anything just starts drilling and gets mad if you ask questions or complain about the pain. When I complained he was drilling in the wrong tooth....he said "you are not a patient anymore". But in spite of that he still took more x-rays in order to charge more money to insurance. He put poor quality amalgam in my tooth and now I have to go to another dentist in order to fix the damage that he caused. This dentist is so bad he should be barred from practicing. read more

I agree with the first comment. He is all about rushing through patients. I will not be going to this dentist again. He has bad customer skills and spends no quality time to care for his patients. Why would I pay for a dentist who doesn't care about his customers? There are a lot of great dentists who care for their patients, but Dr. Hyun is not one of them. read more

I am so disappointed with Dr. Hyun's work! I will never be going back again. Now that I have switched dentist, which I'm so glad I did, turns out the root canal Dr. Hyun did wasn't done correctly. Makes sense, after my root canal I saw him again because of the pain I was having and he ignored it, instead said I need another tooth fixed. This is not the only wrong thing he did, he also charged me a lot of money for a crown which cracked in half and had to get an extraction from a different dentist because I refuse to go back to him. He also always seems to be in a rush, never trust a doctor that doesn't take his time and actually listen to what you are there for. read more

Worst dental experience ever! Pay attention to the other reviews about doing yourself a favor, and RUN from this dental practice! My wife and I live in a rural area and made an appointment at this office, and "specifically" requested to have an exam & cleaning done at the same time. After an hour drive we arrived at a shabby looking house in a residential neighborhood that was the dental office. We should have turned around then. After filling out the patient forms, we were told that they do not do both an exam & cleaning, but we needed to do the exam only, then schedule another time to follow a "recommended course of treatments" ($$$). Can you say Scam! Both my wife & I have had two exams & cleaning a year for our entire lives. Everyone of them in the same office visit. After expressing to the doctor we specifically requested the exam & cleaning to be done at the same time due to the long drive, he explained he is also the hygienist, and could not do both in the same day. What, he is the Dentist/Hygienist? Based on other reviews, no wonder he has no time to wash his hands. Then he told us we should go somewhere else for dental treatment! No problem there, last thing we want is someone with a lack of professional manners, (and according to other reviews, Skill) drilling into our teeth! We asked for our patient forms back, since they had personal information on them, along with our health insurance information, and the office staff refused. Finally they agreed, but we saw them making copies in the back room, and assume they will try to bill the insurance company. RUN! read more

The worst dentist I had ever witness! 1. I waited over an whole hour for my 15 minute appointment. 2. Apparently I had severe periodontal disease and all of my teeth will fall out soon. I need a deep cleaning in each quadrant $$$$. 3. He was really aggressive with wanting more X-rays. 4. Rusty instruments. 5. He yelled at his staff while other patients are waiting in the chair. 6. The waiting room was filled with patients waiting to be seen. Yes every seat was filled. 7. No mannerism what so ever! He nor his staff introduced themselves. 8. The building down the walls and equipment were out of date... 9. Why are the patients charts viewable in the waiting room? 11. The doctor was going in and out of every room without washing his hands. You would think he had some hand sanitizer in each room. 10. The office manger had no computer or only paper charts and more folders to fumble through. It would be a lot easier to make an appointment using a computer... I took one my friends to this dentist cause he was having a horrible toothache (last year). While I waiting in the waiting room. I witnessed the assistant/office manger hang up on one of the patients and called her the "B" word and laughed. Get it together people! read more

Finally getting around to writing my review (since I'm looking for a new dentist now).. I made an appt 9:30am, earlier this year for my 5 yo to get a general check up.We walked in about 9:15 and waited. We were the only ones there then about 10am more people started tricklin in and then more, yet no one was being called in. After about 45 minutes and the wait area packed, staff starting asking patients to reschedule for later in the day or another day (really?!?) needless to say, some people were NOT happy. Then when my daughter was finally called, I got up to go in with her and the girl assistant rudely told me I could not come in with her, I asked why and with such attitude I've never seen in medical offices, she said I just couldn't.. I had to bite my tongue but that was it for me! Sadly, the dentist himself was really nice, thorough and explained everything clearly to me. He took time to go over his report on my daughter and asked me to bring her in later in the year. Friendly enough dental staff, but complete incompetence when it comes to office management. First they over charged my debit card (transposed numbers). I noticed it before I left, but they didn't know how to reverse and correct it. They offered to leave it on my account as a credit for my next appointment. I was fine with that and made the appointment for a 6 month cleaning. So I show up on the day of the appointment and they had decided to close without bothering to call and notify their patients. So that was a half day of pay lost. I left a message on their answering machine. After two weeks without a return call I made a appointment with another dentist. Within two weeks I've seen the other dentist and still no return call from Dr Hyun's office so about a month later I stop by his office to request the refund on the over charge and inform them of the new dentist, the office manager and was told a check would be mailed to me. Fast forward a year later and still no refund and I need the information from the records to research into something for my insurance. So I stop by once again and am once again told I'd receive a call. Now more than a month has passed and still no return of the money I was overcharged or copies of my records. Please note that being able to obtain medical records is required by the federal HIPAA regulations. So unless you want to have your money stolen, your time wasted and work with an office that operates in violation of federal HIPAA regulation, I recommend you go somewhere else. read more

So my last review was removed because I was deemed not a patient. I was a patient of Dr. Hyun's and here's my experience again... I scheduled an appointment for 9am Monday when i arrived in the parking lot of the dentists "office" they were calling me saying they need to reschedule me for a later time because the dentist would be coming in late. I agreed and came back an hour later...when i arrived i signed in wasn't greeted and waited 20 minutes before approaching the staff to ask what was going on while they all chatted about personal issues. I was so upset at the unprofessional attitudes i walked out. As soon as i got in my car i received a call asking me to reschedule my appointment for next week. I agreed since my insurance is about to expire and i need this treatment done. So here's where the craziness has stepped up a next level. They have been calling my work and personal phone non stop to change and reschedule the same appointment over and over again. I finally asked to speak to an office supervisor and the supervisor was even worse, the tone and attitude of the staff was appalling. When i would ask a question the staff would respond as if it was a huge inconvenience and tried making me feel as if i was stupid. I was never able to even get answers to my questions and was told they would call me back AGAIN to reschedule my appointment. And to top of off this appoinent is to fix some crappy work Dr. Hyun already did on me. I feel disgusted that im having to deal with such rude and unprofessional behavior due to the type of insurance i have through work i am unable to go to another dentist at this time. I encourage all to research and read all reviews on this dental office and any dental office you are thinking about making an appointment at. This office seems to think that they are doing their patients a favor by seeing you. Rather you have dentical or private insurance. The staff is very unprofessional with exposed tattoos, myself and other patients that I have spoke too, have seen love bites -if you know what I mean, on the staffs necks. The front office is not very well trained and takes no responsibility when they make mistakes. This office does not conform to the customer is always right rule and will argue with you and attempt to make you feel that it is all your fault. I have worked in an office for 6 years and have been yelled at cursed at and have and would never, talk back or get smart with a client. The dentist seems to be ok with all this or is blind to the way his staff is running his dental practice. I will never recommend this dentist office. If you have dentical and live in Lompoc and believe there is no where else to go. There are other dentists in Lompoc that accept this insurance, I encourage you to seek dental care elsewhere. Dr. Hyuns office just lost 6 patients. Also, I encourage all that have had a negative experience to contact the Dental Board and your insurance carrier to voice your complaint. read more
