Had an appointment for X-rays today. Was taken to the back quickly and things were going smooth up until I started being "sold" on things. I was told I wouldn't be able to get a cleaning or deep cleaning without getting a filling first. No explanation on why I couldn't get a cleaning or deep cleaning done without purchasing the filling. Just a "purchase this to get that." The whole aspect of that just felt scammy. If you want straight forward explanations and not feeling like you're being sold a service to get to be able to purchase an additional service save your time and go somewhere else. read more

Hands down the most awful customer service ever! They absolutely do NOT answer the phone, all communication is through email or text. My husband uses neither so that was a real problem in getting timely answers to any problems. And there were problems that ended up not getting dealt with for over 24-48 hours. My husband even drove down there during office hours, found the door locked, but could see someone inside. He knocked on the door and they ran and hid! read more

Unfortunately, absolutely the worst experience!! I woke up during a procedure, after being put to sleep intravenously. I woke up to so much pain, my blood pressure rose rapidly, which then gave me a migraine. The dentist then had to call an ambulance, and I was rushed the emergency room. I am being charged way over the initial price quoted that I had signed for. My surgery was back in October of 2025 and I am still waiting for a working product. So far, they have not taken accountability and just expect me to wait. I have been in touch with my insurance provider, I really would like to be compensated somehow and feel that the office should pay for my ER visit, which is in the thousands. read more

Pathway is a rip off. Before services were rendered there was a demand for payment. There was a demand I pay by debit or credit card. Then there was a service percentage fee to pay by credit card. I told them I could pay cash. I was told they didn't accept cash. I asked if a check would be acceptable. I was told I had five minutes to return home to retrieve a check. When I returned to pathway, I decided that I did not want to have any fillings replaced and all I wanted it was just a teeth cleaning. I was told I had to have the fillings taken care of before cleaning. I then decided I didn't want anything done. I was then informed I had to pay a hundred dollar cancellation fee. I was given the appointment the prior day after x ray's were taken and I was merely doing them a favor by filling in an open calendar. The manager came, after fiddling around with the computer keyboard decided.I didn't have to pay the hundred dollar cancellation fee. During a prior appointment, I had a molar gold crown replaced. I asked for the gold crown but was told I could not have it because it needed to be "sanitized." I returned to Pathway a couple days later and ask for the gold crown. I was giving a small, clear plastic bag and in the bag.was a carcass of the crown and all the gold was extracted from it. I believe it got ripped off for two hundred to 3 hundred dollars in gold. If I was told sanitizing meant removing all the gold , I would have told them no. I was not given my gold back. read more

I went in for my initial exam and they created a 30 THOUSAND dollar treatment plan. I said "NO" in every way imaginable, but the hard sell continued. Later I called to have a tooth extracted. With my insurance I pay either $40 or $70 depending on the tooth. They quoted me $727, because they wanted to do things, not necessary, but aligns with their "scam" pricing. I followed Dr. Erickson from when I first met him a different office to his new office and things went downhill from there. I barely saw him after that. Sometimes the cleanings were overly aggressive and painful. I then recently decided to call them one last time to see if things had improved maybe by trying a different office within their system. I then discovered via email that my request for an appointment was denied as I had been "transferred out of their office." I plan to call them tomorrow to find out what is going on. But I'm not happy about a dentist that just "transfers" you with no warning. There were some weird shenanigans with them cancelling an appointment I planned to show up for because they said they didn't get a conformation. Then they sent me a last text message the morning of the appointment saying that if they didn't hear from me within an hour, they would cancel the appointment. Because I received their text messages while driving, and couldn't find them by the time I got home, I didn't actually get the right message because messages on my phone shows you the messages you haven't read first. Everyone wanting your cell number has turned into a problem. In any case, I showed up for my appointment and then rescheduled. I felt like they didn't understand my issues or how to help me with Invisalign. I found a specialist for that, but whatever. As a dental office, they are seriously no fun to deal with. They also never answer the phone. I actually like scheduling online, but when I do call with a problem, I do want to talk to someone. You can make an appointment online but not on mobile. Im going to share something with you but please don't tell anyone...I'm scared of the dentist. Yes, I said it, I am terrified! The dentist here made me feel so comfortable that all my worries went away in minutes. The procedure was painless. He explained everything so well and answered my questions. They also have all high tech equipment. The front desk staff are great too and the dentist assistants were amazing too! The whole team is incredibly caring. I am so happy I found this dental office. I made a new patient appointment mainly to get my teeth cleaned. Instead I had to have all these X-rays done and an exam. I think because my teeth are in such good condition and will not be a money pit for them, they would not schedule a teeth cleaning. I have tried to schedule 2x only to have them cancel and say they don't have anything available. How is that possible. Every dentist I have been to schedules 6-9 mo out but they do schedule. I feel they just wanted to charge me for unnecessary X-rays and not do anything else. Don't go unless they schedule everything!! How can they just say we will call you when we have an opening? I might miss my two cleanings a year with these unprofessional people. read more

Dr. Ericson's office insisted on billing my daughter who had just turned 15 as an adult, though our dental insurance considers her a child. He got my $18 dollars but lost me as a patient. My wife had changed earlier as the price he wanted for dental work was significantly higher than another dentist she went to for a second opinion. read more

First off, let me say the staff was really really nice. They are probably paid very well to have such good attitudes. Hence the 2nd star, otherwise this would be a 1 star review. Which brings me to my next point. Cost of a root canal on one tooth. With a cap. I'm sure it will be played off as overhead costs. Gotta pay people and bills... I am still trying to understand how one tooth was quoted as costing me $5000...$4958 to be exact. Root canal and cap. Twice as much as our farm Jeep. I can go to Costa Rica on a dental vacation for half as much. That's just under 3 months rent. And wait. They offered me 'their' insurance which brought it down to $3000. Only slightly better. I can still do the Costa Rican adventure for less. Shall I go on? Ok see below. If you can tell me why you are charging this much, I May consider editing my review. Is it because I said I was gainfully employed? Did I strike you as being wealthy and you adjusted your prices accordingly? I am not impressed with your pricing schedule thus far. $500+ for a cleaning. Sheesh. $300 for an exam and xrays. Of which I better get a copy of my file for that much. If I can help others not waste time and money here, kudos to yelp. This is a prime example of what capitalism does to the healthcare industry. So lucky to have providers like this(sic). Hell, I found a place in the Bay Area that will do both for $850, no international traveling required. Great reviews. But still.... The staff is very friendly and efficient. I found Dr. Carmody to be very warm yet professional in his work. He explained clearly what he was doing and was happy to answer any of my questions. Even though he provided plenty of anesthetic to the area he worked on, he asked me to raise my hand if I experienced any pain, which I did, and he stopped and added more anesthetic when necessary. Apparently I had a very sensitive tooth, which Dr. Carmody explained was called a "hot" tooth. The office has some amazing scanning equipment which helped the Dr. to assess where the problems were located and what would be needed to resolve them. I had two root canals, one on Monday, and one on Tuesday. Each were three hour procedures. Never fun, but I have had the best experience I have ever had in a dental office. Shout out to Dental Assistants Mercia and Hasan, who were courteous and professional. I am so grateful and thankful to all. read more

Went back to get some work done at the dentist. My dentist was Dr. Knowles. He is really good. His temperament is so down to earth. He really seemed to care that he did not hurt me. He is gentle and took the time to explain the procedure..He is definitely in the right line of work...He seems to really know what he is doing and he has a lot of professional courtesy with the dental hygienist. read more

I went there to get a check up and ended up getting feelings the dentist that took care of me was kind and gentle when it came to numbing my teeth I did not feel any of the injections they did a great job and I'm glad I went there I will be returning again in the future for more work if need thank you again for your time and service! During this time of Covid They took all the precautions that were necessary to make sure that they kept their staff safe and their patients also safe. I have issues with the billing also. They wanted to charge me up front before any work was done. I have insurance to boot. When you go in you do not know which dentist is going to be working on you. I wouldn't recommend Pathway dental in Lompoc. They are a "paperless office and don't send statements". Not everyone handles bills electronically. It's extremely frustrating when you have requested mailed statements multiple times. read more

We are having a hard time getting copies of our X-rays and exam records from the new "Ericson Dental" office. Apparently, Ericson bought the practice of Dr. William Thiele, who served as our dentist for about 20 years. My wife and two daughters would like to transfer their records to a different practice here in Lompoc, but there are problems (Thiele's record system and Ericson's do not talk to each other, signed forms are needed for permission, limited staff at Ericson do not answer phone calls, and the Ericson staff did not explain the necessary process to the people at our new dentist office). Pain in the rear; this should be easy. It is a "professional courtesy" for one dentist to support the needs of another-- but Ericson has yet to show that courtesy. I will gladly up my yelpstars if these guys ever cough up our records as requested. Alas, it's not Dr. Siefe's office any more. Dr. Siefe was the best dentist I've ever been to and unfortunately, the dentists who now staff the office are not nearly so good. I've had a couple fillings and each time it's been an unpleasant experience. I left one appointment feeling like my mouth had been attacked and it took a week for me to stop hurting. I actually went to another dentist two days after that visit because my jaw hurt so badly. The other dentist did x-rays and confirmed that nothing was damaged and said things were just bruised. That's pretty rough for what was said to be a routine filling in an easy-to-reach spot. I held off on writing this review since I was hoping that they were just going through growing pains. After repeated visits that ended in pain and some level of trauma, though, I felt like a review was in order. I'd like to note that the office staff and hygienists who have stayed since Dr. Siefe left are just as amazing as ever. They're the highlight of every trip and I appreciate and value them highly. I am disappointed with this dental group. There are several reasons why, but the easiest is this. The treatment plan quote is an estimate of the patient's co-pay amount. However, this office requires the patient to pay this estimate up front, in full, before any work is done. In my case, I had to give them the correct co-pay amounts so that I could pay accurate charges only. This was a difference of a few hundred dollars. Who wants to over pay and then wait for a refund to come a few months later? Secondly, after paying in full for two crowns on the first appointment. I am now being told it will be almost 2 months before the next appointment! I was very surprised by this. At other offices, I have never had to wait more then 2 to 3 weeks for the crowns to be finished. So, I had to pay up front for the complete service, but the dentist is ok with us having to wait 2 months for the work to be completed. read more

Staff are friendly and it is easy to find openings, but it it very difficult to get through by phone to schedule, cancel, or speak with staff. Also after leaving messages, their response time is slow. Their building is clean and convenient to get to. I also appreciate the early morning availability. read more

The facility has modern equipment and the office is up to date. Doctors and staff are friendly and caring. Questions about procedures are always answered. Sedation options are available for those whore anxious about dental treatment. It's always nice to know that you can be comfortable when visiting the dentist! read more

I had Mercia has my assistant and she eased my fears of having dentist anxieties and talked me through the whole process. Well they're fine if you're scheduling an appointment or going in for one, but I keep getting bills trying to collect a payment that my insurance says they definitely cashed the check for. If you love leaving countless messages and waiting forever to hear back, and playing monkey-in-the-middle over a payment that was already made, or being told to tell your insurance to send them emails (which they don't do) because they can't be bothered to pick up the phone to straighten things out, this place is for you. I swear if I go to collections over this, I'm going to completely lose it. Do not waste your time. I'm taking my kids' teeth elsewhere. This place is an absolute headache. read more
