Although I live in Long Beach and had limited time to visit in person, Dr. Melikian was kind enough to initiate contact via email and responded promptly. He arranged a quick phone consultation at no charge. He came across as very amiable, genuinely concerned, and highly knowledgeable about the subject. During our conversation, he brought up additional tests and treatment options I wasn't previously aware of. The call was definitely productive and appreciated. My only gripe, generally speaking--not specific to his practice--is that stem cell treatments are exorbitantly priced and not covered by insurance. Expect to pay anywhere from $6,000 to $9,000 or more for various stem cell treatment options. So, not a go just yet until I figure out how to come up with the money, I will have to live with my back pain.

I am someone who not only asks a doctor 50 questions but also seeks multiple second opinions. I found Dr. Danny Benmoshe who was a beacon of strength. He immediately took control of the situation. He ensured that I underwent all the necessary tests promptly to prioritize my well-being over any time constraints. He was patient, compassionate, and meticulous in his approach. Dr. Benmoshe didn't prescribe unnecessary medications that could cloud my judgment. Thank you, dear Dr. Danny Benmoshe. On my first visit, I witnessed her rude behavior firsthand during a phone call with another patient. It was so abrupt and discourteous that I nearly intervened. This initial impression sadly foreshadowed my subsequent experiences. I should have walked out of the office then and there but was not there to see the receptionist/office manager. Attempting to navigate my health care, precisely the daunting prospect of spinal surgery, I sought compassion and professionalism. Instead, my journey was marred by her curt and unprofessional demeanor. Despite my efforts to engage in constructive dialogue and secure an appointment to discuss my surgery with Dr. Gantwerker, her obstructive actions inhibit my attempts at each turn. I called back and put her on speaker. I had two friends with me listening so they could witness firsthand what I had been dealing with. She kept arguing with me over nothing, so I requested that she "please have Dr. Gantwerker call me" to discuss my concerns directly, only to be met with her not letting me speak but speaking over me. She then raised her tone and insisted I seek surgery elsewhere, then abruptly hung up. Such behavior is unbecoming of someone in her position and detrimental to the patient's well-being and the practice's reputation. I firmly believe that if Dr. Gantwerker were aware of her conduct, he would not permit her to represent his practice. Her decision to place personal sentiments above professional obligations, especially in critical healthcare matters, is unacceptable. My experiences have left me no choice but to seek care elsewhere, a decision made with a heavy heart given the excellent rapport and understanding I had developed with Dr. Gantwerker himself. Being treated with such disregard, especially when facing a significant medical procedure, is disheartening. It's a stark reminder of one individual's attitude's impact on a patient's healthcare journey. Since I did not receive a call back from Dr. Gantwerker as I requested, I cannot, in good conscience, entrust my health to a practice where personal biases override patient care. It is a disservice to the dedicated professionals in the medical field and, most importantly, to the patients they serve.

Rather than rushing me toward an invasive procedure, they took the time to truly listen to my goals. As someone who wanted to get back to an active lifestyle and back on the ocean as safely as possible, they carefully explained every detail of my ultrasound scans, the specific damage to my knee, and all of the available treatment options. I never felt pressured. I felt educated. Together we decided on regenerative treatment, giving my body the opportunity to heal itself. Six weeks later, I'm back on the ocean riding my board--something I wasn't sure would be possible so quickly. What impressed me most was their honesty. At my follow-up, they told me I was healing so well that I didn't even need another treatment. That level of integrity is rare. It showed me that their priority is the patient's outcome, not selling additional procedures. I appreciate the time they spent with me, the patience they showed answering my questions, and the genuine care they demonstrated throughout the entire process. They were recommended to me by a friend who had an outstanding experience, and I'm grateful for that referral. Now I'm happy to pay it forward. If you're facing orthopedic surgery or considering your options for a ligament or joint injury, I strongly encourage you to consult with Dr. Marc and Dr. Joe before making a final decision. It may not be the right solution for everyone, but in my case it helped me avoid surgery, get back to doing what I love, and let my body heal naturally. I couldn't be more thankful.

When the cartilage disappears, then bone starts to take it's place - hence where you get the term "bone on bone." I would have been a better and more honest doctor than you anyday.
