The Deck Awning Company is great...when they want your money. Impossible when you need service…read more We hired The Deck Awning Company to install a Sonesta retractable awning for nearly $5,000. At the time, they were responsive, polite, and easy to work with which, in hindsight, makes sense because they were trying to secure a $5,000 job. Less than three years later, one of the awning arms developed a problem, and that's when the experience completely changed. For over three months, I've been trying to get them to come out and look at the awning. Instead of service, I've gotten multiple excuses, delays, and the general runaround. Phone calls and email requests frustratingly lead nowhere, and they have consistently shown zero urgency or accountability now that the job is apparently no longer profitable. To make matters worse, because it's a Sonesta awning, many other companies won't work on repairs unless they were the original installer (I would know, I was forced to contact many, to no avail). That effectively leaves you stuck with the company that installed it and in this case, a company that apparently has no interest in servicing its own work once the initial installation is completed. This business seems very happy to take thousands of dollars for installation, but when it comes to supporting their own product afterward, they magically disappear. Avoid this company entirely. If you're considering an awning installation, take your business to a company that actually stands behind its work and values customers beyond only the initial payment.

I…read moretold him the issue, he thought David the technician may be able to help walk me through some troubleshooting. David then walked me through the entire process. I was able to replace the batteries in sensor, and the issue is fixed. I will of course use them in the future. Not only for their expertise, but for their honest and professional advice. They could have easily said: " we need to come out and fix it" I would have done that. Integrity and great communication is the cornerstone of any company. The Deck and Awning Company's mantra. How refreshing. Particularly because the previous day I was totally scammed by a vent cleaning service who charged me double than market rate, but not telling me it would be more until they were at my house. Total scam. So - my experience today with Nick and Dave, restored my faith in human nature!!! I so very highly recommend them. Don't look ANY further. Rhonda J

We spent months contacting them to fix the issues, even filed with the Better Business Bureau, but they continued to give us the runaround. Nothing was ever fixed, and eventually we had another contractor take it because it was starting to collapse from the weather and became a safety hazard. Very unprofessional and unreliable company. You can get far better work done for their prices by an actual licensed contractor.

I thought it would hang down longer like my previous one, allowing for more coverage over my front porch area. Instead, it's leaving parts of the seating exposed to the sun. I really hoped this awning cover would add a nice touch to my outdoor space and provide the shade I need during the hot months. Instead, I find myself feeling disappointed every time I look at it. I did reach out to customer service to discuss my concerns and see if there's a way to resolve these issues. That call was NOT productive and the gentleman was a bit rude and lacked empathy. Not sure if I can reach out to the manufacturer for a replacement, or is find a way to modify the installation to improve the situation? Either way, I'm determined to find a solution that will make my outdoor space more enjoyable.

Robert came out twice to measure and to provide an estimate in person. We contracted with them and scheduled an install of two (2) Andersen Series 400 sliders and four (4) Andersen Series 400 awning windows. I cannot express how delighted we are with the windows and the professional installation. Manolo and Alex were here for two (2) days and just were wonderful to work with. They were extremely respectful especially because half of their time was spent in our master bedroom. They were very professional and cleaned up the work areas each day. Excellent team. The windows are beautiful and functional. We already feel the insulation benefits. Angel, the painter and his crew followed up for two (2) more days and was able to stain the new windows and trim to a very close match to our existing Anderson Windows and trim. Cleaned up each day. Amazing job. The windows are beautiful and functional. We already feel the insulation benefits and the beauty of the matching windows. We wanted to keep true to the original Andersen Windows installed when the house was built in 1950 and updated in 1960. Mission Exteriors hit a home run.

As others have stated, do not let them speak with your insurance company. Ask for an estimate but dont tell them how much you are getting. They will hound you for every insurance dollar without providing any justification or proof of their cost. Their owner (Katy) is not very professional (at least in my case, would only reply via emails. She would not talk to me over the phone) and when asked to provide proof of cost or scope of work, would delay, delay, delay until they did the work and then told me that I owed them. Although, our house turned out OK, i would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I would also caution anyone that doesnt have a support network who you can run things by, to shop around and be comfortable with who you work with. I had the support of my family, but without them, i could have been out thousands of OOP dollars. They also threatened to take me to court if i didn't hand over EVERY insurance dollar. I had my insurance company write them an email stating that certain checks were meant for the policy owner only and not the contractor and they still claimed i had to hand over the check. This is not the standard, and thankfully you can find other roofers who will do honest work.
