I started with extreme brain fog and headaches that resulted from long Covid but felt exactly like I did when I had my last major concussion a few years ago from a freak accident where it body flung out of a car. I learned about HBOT from and book about concussions so I found holistic hyperbarics which wasn't the closest HBOT facility to me but I like that when I called, they were a lot nicer on the phone then the place that was closer to me. All the staff that I have met there, like Derek, Shelby, Sam, Pedro, Keyshawn and Jordan have been very nice and made me feel very safe. I like that the spa feels clean enough on the inside of the chambers and I don't have to worry because all of the staff are EMTs so they can take care of you if they need to and everybody is well educated about the process which I love. I really like the fact that there are windows that help with the claustrophobia, and you could peek outside of the windows if you feel scared. Also, the EMTs keep checking on you to make sure that you feel safe and aren't freaking down. They all do such a great job that they are what makes this place great. After 60 sessions, my headaches have lessened but they are still present. I read other reviews where people had bruises that healed faster, but I had bruises that I would notice on day one during the week, and the bruises would fade but still took a week to fade as they normally would do without 5 HBOT sessions in between. Also, some lucky people had old scars fade. I had zero old scars fade because I took before and after photos to compare for myself and the after looks like the before. Don't forget having a healthy diet while going through this therapy. I gave up caffeine, alcohol and unhealthy foods for months. I also incorporated a few juice cleanses throughout my healing journey. I'm glad that I don't have the headaches that I initially came in with, but people with my condition also said with normal time they fade. One day, I hobbled in with Achilles' tendinitis from not stretching enough am just running everyday. Hoping that HBOT would help alleviate the new pain because I read a medical journal article about it helping. I had daily sessions that week, and my tendinitis did not go away so I had to go to my minor injury doctor to get a walking boot and stretches. I think it was because I wasn't driving deep enough and my body just needs more pressure. I called Christine and left a voicemail about not having enough pressure. She called me back the next day but I missed her call and she left a voicemail saying that they don't do that. Still thinking that I wasn't diving deep enough, I was at 2.0 ATA by the time that I left, and that was the pressure when I started to actually feel that it was working. The only reason why I was at 2.0 ATA was because I kept asking the technicians to give me a deeper dive . My regular physician told me that she didn't know enough about HBOT to recommend to me. Holistic Hyperbarics has an on-site physician who just was never there whenever I was so they never saw me but they wrote me a prescription to use the HBOT chambers. I'm kind of a clean freak, so when you take off your shoes to step into the chamber, you step onto a floor mat with your socks, but that same floor mat is stepped on by lots of shoes. You can tell because your socks would get dirty from the contact. Insurance didn't pay for this so my experience is all out of pocket. It wasn't the miracle that I was hoping for but at least I tried a different methodology on my healing journey.

I wondered why Pro Athletes and non Pro like Michael Jackson and Lance Armstrong were using HBOT to recover from injury and fatigue. I asked my GP to provide a 5-session trial protocol with HR of M to see if I could see any improvement. After 3 treatments, I began to feel my extremities, my mind clearing and a positive outlook on my long-term situation. I realized that HR of M is not a hospital facility (much less expensive though) but is run as if as it was one with all the safety procedures and best equipment (watch out for the unlicensed and then the fake "bag" providers without pressure!). It is important to know that they use 100% pure oxygen, while others use "compressed" oxygen with possible contaminants. The staff is outstanding! They even have their own Medical staff to professionally manage your progress (most Physicians are unfamiliar with HBOT, so they don't recommend it or know how to follow-up). The results provided by Dr. Danial Amens appointed Doctors or should I say N.D, was not good! I came to the Amen clinic for a specialist that focuses on the Brain and perform a scan that goes beyond what an ordinary hospital or V.A can perform. I have been spent over $5200 with Amen to get a scan and a doctor to review and assist me in progressing the damage my brain has sustained from a TBI in the United States military and many other injuries after that. You claim you're a doctor but cannot assist me in time off? I spent three days angry, after talking to you on zoom meeting. I was scared and trying to comprehend all the areas of my brain you said were affected with damage. I initially walked into the clinic on day one and asked the front desk to have a doctor sign a release form so I could go back to work, because my current employer thought I might be a liability since I informed them, I needed two days off work for imagining of my brain. Only "After" my zoom meeting with Dr. Mendenhall, was a freaking out and scared from the results of the scan. I clearly stated that work was causing me sleepless nights for years and I worked in hostile environments on a daily basis, working as an Investigator. The biggest issue was I was in a vehicle, alone for 12 hours a day and getting irregular sleep, due to the unethical scheduling from my employer. My issue is that I'm told in this email from Dr. Mendenhall that she does not have a long history with me and I should seek time off from my primary care doctor.... Then why the hell would you prescribe me an "ANIT-DEPRESANT" along with another synthetic sleep aid? You are the brain doctor, and my primary care doctor is just that, "PRIMARY CARE!" They do not specialize in the brain and that is why I came to Amen clinic. If you do not have a history with me, do not prescribe me a drug that is an Anit-depressant when I am NOT depressed. I can take a photo of the bottle and the remaining pills inside the bottle. I had to stop the medication because it almost ended my life on I-680 on August 5th. I had to stop in the express lane because my vision suddenly viewed everything like I was under water. I could not see any cars or even my hazard lights. I thought I was going to get rear ended and die that day. Two minutes later my vision slowly came back, and I proceed to my mother's that is a retired medical nurse. This occurred an additional time for 30 seconds after I made it back home and thankfully, I was in the presents of my own house. After speaking to my therapist, I explained what occurred while driving and she asked what changes in my life occurred. I explained I completed my brain scan, and the results were not good. I was nervous, scared and an emotional wreck. I explained my recovery was three phases and emailed her my treatment plan and the zoom video between my doctor and I. My therapist got back to me right away and asked why I was prescribed an Anit-depressant when I've never been diagnosed with depression though my 30 years with Kaiser, my post evolution in the Marines, nor through Sutter Health? I explained that Dr. Mendenhall stated it was for anxiety and nothing about depression, so I took the medication. After further investigation the drug "Bupropion", I immediately stopped the drug. The side effects were everything I was experiencing. I even informed Amen clinic I took blood pressure medication, and Bupropion elevates blood pressure, which it did, and is known for causing "HALO'S and vision issues". I have anger disorder and it elevated that as well. How can a N.D functional doctor for Amen, prescribe me non-natural medication but not assist me in providing a medical note to allow me to try and proceed with a treatment plan to heal my disastrous results? She clearly understood my work and also stated in the Treatment plan, that I needed to "Avoid occupational isolation, seek work that involves regular socialization with others and minimize time alone in my car!" How do you need a longer history with me to provide me time off to heal my brain? You are the specialist and that is what I paid you $820 for 1.5 hours of your time on zoom. I paid an additional $200 to prepare two short reports and another $390 for "Initial comprehensive and management". The aftercare, after my initial testing at the Walnut Creek location has been dog shit! I did not need synthetic medication for anti-depression, and I did not need Trazadone to get sleep. Trazadone (another synthetic drug) had me bumping into workout machines the next day and also made me feel like I was seasick. What I needed was some time off to heal and complete the phases you stated.

My wife was recently treated for kidney stone at John Muir Health in Walnut Creek and Concord. I…read morewould like to describe the outstanding care she received at both locations. Recently, on a Sunday evening, after our daily walk, she complained of unbearable pain in her lower left back. We called the Moraga-Orinda paramedics and they showed up in 3 minutes! She was given pain killers and rushed to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, the closest location for us. At John Muir Emergency Department, she was attended to immediately. The physician, Dr. Kessler, after examining her, immediately opined that it looks like kidney stone! He ordered a CT Scan and a medium to large size kidney stone was confirmed. Dr. Kessler prescribed pain killer, necessary medication and admitted her since the pain was unbearable for her to handle at home. Krystal and Kamala was the first nurse-team we had. They were both excellent, caring and compassionately attended to my wife as often as needed even during the night. After seeing the excruciating pain, they arranged an urologist consulting and a decision was made to do a Ureteroscopy and blast the stone into small fragments/dust. Since this procedure was done only at the Concord location of John Muir, my wife was transported by an excellent ambulance team to Concord location. In Concord, she was given excellent care by RN Mary and RN Emmeline - they were really amazing! My wife needed help often, and the nurses never ever complained (even at night) and helped my wife with a cheerful smile every time! The next two days, she was given outstanding care by Dr. Khan and the nursing team of Sarah and Benjamin. Sarah is very knowledgeable, competent, very compassionate, cheerful and friendly. She followed the protocol strictly for every care-activity and her attention to detail was amazing. For example, she had to check my wife's blood glucose regularly. Every time, Sarah would poke the finger, remove the first drop of blood the comes out with a gauze (since the first drop was in contact with the needle), press the finger to get the next drop and use it to test blood glucose! And, Sarah was training a student nurse and she was painstakingly describing every step of every procedure in great detail to the student while taking excellent care of my wife. The urologist, Dr. Chang, was very friendly, and explained to wife the details of the procedure. His attention to detail was also amazing. Since the kidney stone was in the lest ureter, he used a marker on my wife left leg to highlight that it is the left ureter! The Nurse practitioner from his office, Vivian, scheduled the surgery and communicated with us daily. She showed real concern and empathy for my wife's ordeal. The procedure was successful and the excruciating pain stopped almost immediately afterwards. Dr. Chang had written a detailed description of every step of the procedure in my wife's My Chart - it was comforting to read the detailed report. She was discharged the next day. The care my wife received from the Doctors and Nurses at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek and Concord was consistently excellent - the quick/initial diagnosis at ER, confirmation through CT Scan, excellent execution of the procedure by the Urologist and the awesome care she received from the Nursing Team after the procedure - all outstanding! We have lived in Contra Costa County for over thirty years and have had treatments at John Muir Hospital a few times and we experienced excellence every time! We highly recommend John Muir Hospitals and their outstanding team of Physicians and Nurses.
