While visiting NOLA for my anniversary, my wife wanted soul food in NOLA so I searched Yelp and…read morefound this place. There's not many soul food places in NOLA to my surprise. When you walk in you're greeted and told to get a menu and place your order at the counter. They will bring your food to your table. You pick any available table. That seems to be a thing in NOLA. The place plays contemporary jazz in the background so nice ambiance. They also have TV screens playing sports. I ordered the fried chicken, cabbage and jambalaya. Everything is WELL seasoned! I love seasoned food but this was too much for me. If it was a bit less seasoned I would have enjoyed it more. My wife got the shrimp platter with corn and mac & cheese. She felt her food was good and seasoned well. She wants to go back for lunch. To be fair I'm not a soul food person. It's not my first choice of food since I ate a lot of this food at church.

Yes! It was yummy…read more We had the fried chicken and rib plates. We also tried almost all their sides. The mac n cheese so yummy and just the right amount of cheese. It was one of the most yummiest mac n cheese, I've tried. We also had the greens that were also yummy but a little salty for my taste, still I would return just to eat those. The corn bread was amazing, I was so happy with the texture, as it was not dry. My husband highly enjoyed the mashed sweet potato, they were his favorite as he enjoys sweets. The fried chicken left me wanting more, however, the ribs were not my favorite although they were tender, and had a good tangy flavor. I should have taken a picture of our plates because there was no leftovers. We had lemonade and the sweetest of teas. Honestly I highly enjoyed our meals The service was amazing, and super friendly. I also took an amazing peach bread pudding to go. The restaurant was golden and welcoming, they even asked if we wanted our table candle lit. Thank you to the ladies at Susie's. It was great.

My first time at 3 Southern Girls on Jefferson Highway, but it definitely won't be my last!…read more What a wonderful little locally owned restaurant serving good, old-fashioned comfort food. It's quaint and easy to miss--there's very little signage--so keep your eyes open. Trust me, it's worth finding! I had the stuffed bell pepper , and when I say stuffed, I mean STUFFED! It was packed with ground beef and shrimp and had fantastic flavor. The cabbage was absolutely amazing, and the yams were so good and naturally sweet that they basically became my dessert. I also added a cup of gumbo, which was perfectly seasoned and had a generous amount of sausage and shrimp. More than anything, you could taste the care and love that went into the food. There's something special about supporting a local business where the food feels homemade and the people genuinely appreciate you being there. Thank you, 3 Southern Girls, for a great first experience. I'm grateful to have discovered you and look forward to coming back! Great food. Friendly staff. Local ownership. Go support this wonderful local business--you won't regret it!

The red beans and rice are a must, the fried chicken was perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the gumbo had just the right amount of kick. The staff is wonderful too Pro tip: if you're from out of town, ask them how to say pecans and Xavier University it's a fun local inside joke. Great food, great people, highly recommend.
