So the coach is a very knowledgeable guy. He did a great assessment on me. I was interested in 1 on 1 coaching to help overuse injuries. Our phone call consultation was great, our first session was great. Then I showed up to our next session only to be ghosted. Place was locked up and no one there. I called to see if anything happened or changed. I left voicemails, I left more voicemails. Never had a call returned. So my consultation was pretty much a waste since we never had another session since I can't get a phone call returned. Maybe you will have better luck than I had, my gut feeling is knowledgeable coach, but awful experience. Waste of time. John read more

My kids enjoy the Beginning Ninja class here. Their strength, agility, and endurance all improved since joining the class. I only hope that they would be more intentional with the progression of skills. After a year in Beginning class, they should be moving onto an intermediate class, or at least given a list of skills that they need to work on before progressing. My kids have no idea how well they are doing and hey both desire to do competitions at some point. read more

Let me first start by saying that some people in this gym are good kind humans. We come to the homeschool beginner classes. We have zero expectations or delusions for these classes. My 8 year old is in the beginning girls gym and my ten year old son is in the boys ninja class. They both take two classes so we are here for two straight hours. At first the girls class was taught by Brooke but now it is taught by Allie. Both of these women are beautiful humans that genuinely care about the children they are coaching. My daughter is not the most coachable child and I appreciate their patience. Usually, the ninja class is awesome and my son, who is not at all athletic, enjoys them. The reason we come to the homeschool hours of any activity is because my son would much rather be gaming at home and we ask that he participate in an activity for exercise and socialization. Until today, this class has been that for my child. But when it rains it pours. While subbing the class, a new coach named Robbie laid into my ten year old son after the first hour of class. Because my child didn't understand or appreciate one skill called "frog jump", Robbie pulled him aside after class and grilled him. Then he walked over to myself and my husband and grilled us too. Some quotes include "he's here to learn how to be a functioning adult" "if he wants to stay in MY class he has to do what's he's told" "do you even really want to be here?" Like, I had tears in my eyes after Robbie's really mean lecture about taking ninja class seriously. First off, my son is not here to be an adult. He's ten. He's not here to be a ninja. He's not here for any other purpose than to have fun. My child sobbed and sobbed and refused to participate in the second hour of ninja class with Robbie. Hard earned money down the drain. So while my daughter is at her second hour of gym, my son is here distraught and so am I. I'm so frustrated and rethinking if this is the place for us. If you want your child to be badgered into becoming an actual ninja, sign them up. If you're just looking for a fun atmosphere, this is not the place. read more

This review is loonnngggg overdue, as Monster CrossFit (MCF) has improved my overall fitness and well-being over the past 6+ months. It has changed my attitude of "I'm in no shape to do that!" to "I can do that!" NO JOKE. Last summer, the light bulb came on for me to do something about my couch-potatoness. After several years of being complacent of doing the 9-5, eating out, then sleeping, I decided that enough was enough and that I had to get back on a healthier lifestyle. I was one to hit up the gym in spurts, doing the typical elliptical deal with some weights in between, but would make excuses for myself when it came to being consistent. After hearing and seeing success stories of people around me that joined a CrossFit box (gym), I decided to check out MCF since it was in my neck of the woods and to see what all the fuss was about with CrossFit in general. I'll admit that I was a bit intimidated stepping into MCF the first day, as I had barely gotten back into a normal workout routine. To this day, I still remember how burnt out I was after my first day at MCF. However, there was definitely a feeling of satisfaction knowing that I got through the WOD! I haven't looked back since. I've dropped several pant sizes since I joined MCF and am noticeably stronger and faster! Woot woot! The coaches at MCF, Jeremy and Eddie are stellar. These guys are always pushing everyone to the limit (within reason of course!) and constantly vary the WODs during the week. They both take the time to make sure that everyone has the technique down, whether it's an overhead squat, power clean, wall ball, handstand push-up, etc. Think you're in no shape to do these movements? Think again, as the WODs are scalable to all levels. Trust me, I've been there and am able to do things that I've never heard of nor done prior to MCF! There's definitely a camaraderie at MCF and the people around you will cheer you on to finish strong and that you can do it! The prices for MCF are very reasonable, considering what other CrossFit boxes charge and for the results that you can get out of it with some discipline. MCF is located in the Lancaster Marketplace (note that it's not the same thing as Monster Fitness). There are a few morning classes and several evening classes. I believe their official website is down right now, so their Facebook page is your best bet as far as finding up to date information, including the daily WOD. Thank you MCF for helping me get to the shape that I'm in right now! I never thought 6 months ago that I'd be where I'm at. There's nothing like that feeling of satisfaction at the end of the day knowing that I got through the WOD at MCF! Love Hyht Crossfit! I've been a member for 5 months now and every day I look forward to coming! The trainers and members are so welcoming; I love the atmosphere and togetherness. Being a former athlete I thrive to compete! This gym has given me that purpose and opportunity to become better each and every day, no matter what entry level you are at! I'm a strong advocate for fitness and in particular crossfit. Not all crossfit gyms are created equal though and what separates the good from the bad is coaching. I've noticed that the majority of crossfitters are awesome people but again, proper coaching is the deciding factor of joining a gym. Hyht is the place to be for reaching your fitness goal, whatever that goal may be. Safe, challenging, and fun. What else can you ask for. If you have children, Hyht also provides activity classes such as gymnastics, parkour, and ninja training. read more

Such a great CrossFit box... The coaches are not only knowledgable but seem to truly care about the members progress. The programming was great and challenging. Loved that Jeremy explained the purpose of the WOD and talked more in depth about technique. A step above your average CrossFit box. Fitness is for all ages. I joined Monster Crossfit to be stronger and to recover from osteoporosis. The trainers are excellent in teaching technique and watching all the moves. Loved my daughters coach, but the gym is managed very very poorly. There is absolutely no care or concern for the kids. The reason they have few bad reviews is because they manage it well. After posting a 3 star review I was called in and told to basically change it or my daughter wouldn't be welcome there, the same day the owners family and friends posted several 5 star reviews. After being inappropriately charged over 1000.00 in additional fees I questioned it and my daughter was simply kicked out of the school rather than own up to the error and do the right thing. What kind of facility for youth can discard them without hesitation (and I assure you it was a calm and polite conversation), absolutely no reason to do such a thing other than they won't take responsibility. The owner of the gymnastics part of hyht is young and she acts accordingly. Please heed my warning, ask around and feel free to pull parents at the facility aside and talk to them before making a decision to join this gym. They sold it well; we believed the wonderful things they said about the mission of the facility, but none of it was true. If you are team level, be prepared, our fees were never itemized, you are expected to blindly pay what they say with very little notice or your child will suffer. Our Fundraiser funds were lost and never replaced and after participating in a recent fundraiser I was told my daughter was not eligible to receive any benefit from it. No idea where that money will go....this type of thing is never communicated. We tried very hard to stay loyal and help as often as possible over the last 2+ years but it was made very clear they only care about making money. Sad but true. Several attempts were made by myself and group of parents to sit down and discuss concerns, but it was refused or the concerns dismissed. The verbal and mental abuse that my daughter has indured is deplorable. read more

My girls have been going to this gym since they opened. They at first were a great gym, and my oldest was invited to a "team" really it's a reason to shell more money only to require them to practice 13 hours a week, this was for a 7.5, 8 year old now. When we requested she have less hours they insisted she be placed on preteam, and she didn't have the skills. This was after sacrificing my child's time and her families so she could be on the team schedule. After a year practicing and shelling out tons of money only to basically tell her she was preteam material which they already did that at a prior "parent" meeting. Can we mention the lack of instruction. While my daughter was on team the coaching staff would walk away during critical techniques that required someone to immediately correct her. After practicing so many hours she was not capable of doing a front hip circle which with so much time your child should accomplish if they are being corrected appropriately. I have left this gym with the most disdain feeling for the sport " gymnastics." I felt they didn't really care for my children's emotional well being and more about their money pockets. If you want to be around clicky parents who basically black book you, judge you, judge your child, and talk negatively about your children go to this gym. Oh and if that doesn't make you consider this gym their music choice they expose the children to is just darling if you want to hear swear words, sexual phrases, and suggest your daughters swinging on a stripper pole, and bending over than this is the gym for you. We have since pulled our kids from this place and have gone to better reputable gyms within the area who are considerate to your child's development. The business owners are young and hopefully they grow up, mature, and possibly keep a gym that's open to allowing their students to attend other gyms for their coaching abilities they have there that clearly didn't have here.
