To make a long story short, I was helped by a fella that told me they too were sold out of these nursery planters BUT he gave me an option. The name of this place sounds like it could be a dim sum restaurant since it has the word "delight" (ie: Gourmet, Fusion, Seafood, Dumpling, China) you get the gist but don't be trying to order any shui mai or har gow at this spot. Hyrdo Garden Delight is a hydroponic and indoor gardening store so you can grow your garden year around. I've been here twice over the years looking for a grow light, neem oil and most recently, seaweed fertilizer...nah it's not for my 6 allotted 'medicinal' plants but when I think about it probably would've been a great past time during this shelter in place! I'd be enjoying my harvest right about now... Mmmhmm... Anyhoo, this place is small but has plenty of equipment, grow products and insecticides for your garden. The gentleman working there (I suspect the owner is friendly, patient and wonderful at offering advice and suggestions for whatever you're trying to grow. And if they don't have a product in stock, he's more than happy to order it for you regardless of how small the order is....now that's customer service! Plenty of lot parking available and located in the New San Chong Asian Market shopping area off Doolittle...so if you're friends say "hey let's meet up for dim sum...can't remember the name but has the word "delight" in it.." I started gardening this summer and it has proven to be a fruitful *tehee!* hobby. Bugs started to eat on my leaves, so I checked this place out as I was waiting for my nearby Thai food. Upon walking in, I smelled cigarette smoke in the store. There was no cigarette smoke outside... somewhat was smoking inside. So, that was a major turn-off. The store clerk was helping out a guy and didn't even acknowledge me until he was completely done with the other guy maybe 7 minutes after I walked in. It would have been nice to at least be addressed. He did help a bit when it was my turn, but their products were a little too pricey for me currently as a full-time student. I resorted to the more affordable Target. Not saying I won't return, but they can improve in customer service. read more

Like the other great reviews mention they are very knowledgeable and gave me honest answers. Even saved me money on add ons that manufactures and other stores . Best part is when he was actually sold out of what I originally came there for , but then comes out with 4 one pint "sample bottles" . I go to ask how much and he says free ! I was in shock , never Been to a buisness that takes care of their customers like that . I've been to other garden/hydro stores in the East Bay. Hydro Garden Delight definitely is a cut above the rest. Bruce is knowledgeable and friendly. I got the impression that Hydro Garden genuinely wants what's best for their customers' plant systems. They'll offer unbiased professional advice. Other Hydro stores that I've come across are often understocked and staffed by people with poor people skills and limited knowledge of plant systems . Hydro Garden offers a wide selection of product for all types of needs for exceptionally great prices. I'll continue to come here for all of my plant needs. Try it. Wow....I just returned from here. I was looking for some medium for growing wheat grass. I didn't even know this place is so close to me! Anyhow they have exactly what I needed. Best prices for all of my new plant mom needs! Been here a handful of times and have always been greeted upon entering and just exceptional service all around. One of the guys even carried my large bag of soil into my trunk, which was super helpful! I haven't actually walked around to browse as I usually already know what I need and just ask for it. I've also called before I came by to make sure they had what I needed. Great indoor gardening/hydroponics place. Unlike many of the places in Oakland, they actually stock products specifcally tuned to orchids, and have a great selection of hydroponic systems and grow-lights. I got a neat self-contained 2 foot flourescent for my orchids; the total cost was around $25. read more

My boyfriend loves this place. We go around to a few hydro stores in the area, but nobody is as knowledgable and generous as Simon. If he doesn't have something in stock, he will gladly place an order for you and have it available in a few days. This place is EXCELLENT! Despite the harsh reviews and the low star rating, my family and I enjoyed their breakfast! I ordered the homemade granola, flax seed, agave syrup and an egg white spinach omelette with a side a fluffy hash browns... D-LISH! My husband ordered steak and eggs... Mouth watering, btw we always share :)! My kids got their special order of grilled cheese and a side of bacon! Lots of coffee and OJ to wash it all down!!! The customer service we receive from Bruce and Ann are above and beyond what my husband and I could have ever asked for. That alone speaks volume. They are so knowledgable and helpful and have always made us feel that they are genuinely there to help with our growing needs. This place is absolutely marvelous!! I went there with no list just naming out things that I needed and they had EVERYTHING that I asked for. Not to mention the customer service, BOMB! I went back the next day to ask how something,that I had previously purchased, worked and a different gentleman was happy to show me how it worked step by step. He took me to the back of the store and demonstrated everything to me very thoroughly and with patience. I left feeling extremely confident in what I had been shown.
