One morning I was taking my 2-year-old to the Kid Zone when he urgently needed to use the restroom. We were clearly in a rush, but the front desk employee stopped me and insisted I scan a QR code before letting us pass. The interaction felt unnecessarily strict and passive-aggressive. If I didn't have a membership, I wouldn't even be able to use the Kid Zone, so the situation could have been handled with a little more understanding given that I was trying to help my child get to the restroom. What made the experience worse was the tone. It felt like a scene was made in front of my child over something that could have been handled calmly and quickly. For a gym that charges close to $50 a month, I would expect a higher level of customer service and basic courtesy. I spoke with someone at the register afterward and was told the manager would be informed, but it has been over two weeks and I haven't received any follow-up or apology. Between that experience and the already high membership price (especially considering the sauna often smells unpleasant), I decided to cancel my membership. I'm very disappointed and will be going to a different gym moving forward. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this location based on my experience.

She is kind, encouraging, and supportive. She helped me dial in my workouts and I continue to get stronger every week. For the last 5+ years I have had severe hip pain and her attention to this has been the best thing I could ask for. My hip pain is nearly gone and I continue to increase mobility and get stronger. Imagine this, on Sunday I went in the gym app with a very funky mindset determine to claim a spot in the yin yoga class so I could head to gym and do something different, focusing on wellbeing & breath. I thankfully noticed I was waitlisted because had I shown up I would be utterly embarrassed (on my mind) since I think i had signed up for a more advanced yoga class. Haha after that "failed" attempt into my new year, centered-me, I decided to start over on Monday. Monday came I got busy, never made it. Well, TODAY I walked into Mountainside like the boss (of me) and had an amazing workout, hit it up the weights, did some stretches also and I realized how much I have missed being consistent with my gym and my training. I love how clean mountainside always is, the colors around also are pleasing to the eye, great gym layout, cool people doing their thing, friendly staff, it is a very welcoming atmosphere that helps staying motivated. After my workout, I also managed to get a sauna session that is included in my membership. So, despite the unexpected plot twists of my early 2024 (and it is only 2nd week of the year!), I am so thankful for Mountainside for reminding me of my favorite cliches- "life is too short & health is wealth!" The upgrades in their system has lost long term members correct billing information. 1) Members like myself since 2022, have had the same Credit Union Checking Account and Bank Routing information on their Planet Fitness Account with ABC for more than 3 years. 2) This club states that they have been making system upgrades and as a result-- some members information has been lost and even not able to be found on the 17th of each month. 3) Trying to explain to managers or expecting a follow up return call about the billing errors--- Never happens. 4) Credit Union Members generally have One account # for all accounts but also a code that delineates to draw from Checking. ABC can't find this code any more because after this club's upgrades vital Member information was lost. It's been happening for the last 4 Billing Cycles and management fails to listen, follow-up or correct. Dismissive most of the time 5) Members can be seen at desk about double billing, gratuitous late charges due to their inability to locate necessary account information for ABC to process payments 6) While a member since 2022, this billing fiasco is getting old. They pulled from my same checking from April 2022- until the problems started after Easter of this year 2024. April May June July August September--- some strange billing problem

While they were at the front desk, I was on the phone with the employee assisting them, Gideon. Instead of clearly explaining policies, he questioned a legal guardianship situation and actually asked me, "Aren't you the parent?" and challenged how an 18-year-old could be a legal guardian. That is completely out of line. There are many legitimate situations where a guardian is not a parent including serious circumstances like terminal illness. It is not a front desk employee's place to question or challenge that over the phone or at all. Rather than providing clear guidance, Gideon gave inconsistent and confusing information about minor memberships and guest policies. The situation was then steered into requiring two separate memberships one for the 18-year-old and one for the 15-year-old which was not clearly explained upfront. This felt like unnecessary upselling driven by confusion rather than transparency. What should have been a straightforward signup became stressful and uncomfortable for both of my kids. Instead of escalating to a manager or handling it professionally, the situation was made worse. I would not recommend this location. If your situation is anything outside of a basic setup, expect confusion, pressure to purchase more than necessary, and a lack of professionalism.

But the class before us got out late. Bc of this, we had to stand outside and wait for the class to end which was 10 min after our class was supposed to start. During class the instructor seemed distracted and less than enthusiastic. I saw her on her phone while instructing the class multiple times. She was not encouraging or super helpful with all of the equipment even though she knew it was our first class. Along with this, she made it very clear to the rest of class that it was my sister and I's first class and was saying things like "you might want to do this bc it's your first class" "you might not be strong enough for this" while her mic was on. Which is absurd when you are instructing a fitness class. After class was finished the instructor did not seem interested in us at all. She didn't say bye to us or help clean up.
