Darkzone - Free arcade games at dark zone

Prep the war paint and combat boots cause it is all out war at this place!…read more Without booking, a group of 10 of us showed up at Darkzone and played 2 games of laser tag on a Saturday night for $15 per person. We got to compete against several other players in a multilevel indoor arena and each game was different. For the first game, we were divided into several different teams and competed to capture and destroy each other's home base. Strategy, quick feet and lots of squats will help you get through this one! The second game was 1-on-1 so every man for himself...this is when it got real crazy and there was NO safe zone to hide. I really enjoyed going to Darkzone and there are even free arcade machines though they are a bit outdated.

A bunch of us would come out to Box Hill every Friday night, drop ten dollars or so, and run around for an hour shooting each other with lasers. Kind of worrying, actually. In the event of a real war, I'm in trouble - I'll be so used to only being able to be shot in the chest that I'll be poking my head all sorts of places it shouldn't be poked. And that was the thing about Darkzone. As a regular entertainment it became really habit forming. I knew where to shoot to bounce lasers at people in cover. I knew where the cover was, how to slash a shot to maximise the effectiveness of the second-long firing period, where to snipe from above. I could duckwalk for about a mile at a time. Good times.

You can come in through that etching glass door, walk through that soft and colorful Art Deco style carpet, and just sit in these flannel covered couch, order an ice cream cone or a beer, no one is looking unless you purchase a movie ticket! Just hang out there for nothing if you will! Interior is even more convincingly comfortable, it's more Art Deco and the super advanced multi-channel Atom Surround system will knock you out of the seat...so to speak:) Highly recommend this cinema, only just the only,it is a historical site!

Back then it was a dark cinema reminiscent of traditional movie houses (complete with balcony) Fast forward twenty years and the Rivoli is part of Village Cinema's complete with newly opened Gold Class Lounge and cinemas. Their rooftop bar is also a great place to grab a drink before or after your movie. Despite the new developments the Rivoli retains art deco furnishings and old world feel. The cinema screens are hidden by a curtain and the seats are very comfortable (great for those three hour movies.) This large art deco cinema complex shows are range of popular movies with particular emphasis on art house releases and world cinema. For the price of a movie ticket these days you want more from your movie going experience and the Rivoli is one of the best. They are also host many Melbourne Movie Premier's so if red carpets are more your speed then watch their website for details.

There are multiple stalls with 'Melbourne' themed gifts if you are shopping for interstate or overseas. Entry is free and there is a big range of prices for various budgets, from $5 bottle cap style rings to $250+ for cotton bedding. There are also items you never knew you needed but can possibly live without, like an Australian flag moustache broche. A vast majority of the products are aimed at the ladies, but there are some good things for guys here too. You can also head here for after work drinks for a beer, wine, or cider and a taco truck is parked out front. The market features some great designers and it's worth it to have a look around at the artists and craftsmanship.

The Big Design Market. Seriously, go there with a budget and only go over that budget by a hundred because things could get out of control. So much beautiful bits and pieces from dog clothes to vases, calendars to jewellery to art, plants to bicycle. EVERYTHING PRETTY. And on the crowd side, so many people in outfits that I would like to borrow. It's a little crowded but nothing compared with the alcohol tastings I've been to/work out so this level of people was actually a nice change. The biggest lines and crowds were for food (especially Miss Chu's Dumplings) but there was a couple of street food traders on the outside that you could get pass outs to. And that's not really what you're there for right..? BEST PLACE EVER FOR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.
