I was at a friend's wedding weekend before last, and it got me thinking back to when they started dating. A bunch of us would come out to Box Hill every Friday night, drop ten dollars or so, and run around for an hour shooting each other with lasers.
Kind of worrying, actually. In the event of a real war, I'm in trouble - I'll be so used to only being able to be shot in the chest that I'll be poking my head all sorts of places it shouldn't be poked.
And that was the thing about Darkzone. As a regular entertainment it became really habit forming. I knew where to shoot to bounce lasers at people in cover. I knew where the cover was, how to slash a shot to maximise the effectiveness of the second-long firing period, where to snipe from above. I could duckwalk for about a mile at a time.
