I have been coming to see Dr. Honore for close to seven years. I was referred by a colleague of mine and this was the best referral I have had by anyone. The office is located in an office building on the main road. There is usually parking available on the street and you just pay using the pay app on your mobile phone. Her office is clean and neat, nothing fancy. Don't let that stop you..her office staff is extremely helpful, friendly and takes care of business. There is never a long wait to be seen in the waiting room or in the patient room. She is very knowledgable in her craft, down to earth and provides you a very clear analysis of what you need and a plan on good skin care. At times, she will offer samples and discount coupons to help with the purchase of your prescription. Her office hours offer one late evening and most day hours until 3pm. I have been a patient of Dr. Ara-Honore for over 5 years and am very surprised to see such a low Yelp rating. I have never experienced any rudeness by the receptionists via phone or in person. To the contrary, they have all been warm and friendly. Sometimes, I have had a short wait to be taken back to the patient area or to be seen by Dr. Honore, but it's because she provides individual attention to patients. When you're back in the exam area, you can sometimes hear her when she's in the other examination rooms. It's not to the point where you can hear anyone's business, but she is very pleasant and a lively conversationalist. At the same time, she is a straight-shooter. She can tell when you haven't been following Dr's orders, and will call you out (in a nice way). The office space isn't anything fancy, and could use some updating; however, the most important thing is that Dr. Honore has proven to be very knowledgeable about any dermatological issues I have brought to her attention. Due to that, I have had times where I've only needed to see her 1-2 times a year. Lastly, Dr. Honore is good at finding rebates to offset the costs of some of the pricier meds. I am a patient of Dr. Honore. I have seen her at least three times. I have only good things to say. I have never waited a long time. She has a wonderful and very caring personality. More importantly, she knows the profession. She has treated my conditions effectively and professionally. The staff has never been rude to me and billing has not been an issue. I pay my deductibles and co-pays as I should. It appears that most patients only write reviews when they are upset about something and not so much when everything runs smoothly. My wife tried to use this doctor when Ciera & Marissa were very rude in telling my wife that they do not take "Obama-care". Our silver level PPO through BCBS is accepted here, according to BSBC & the office's web site. They were trying to, unprofessionally and rudely, explain that our policy has a high deductible that would cause their bills to come directly to me. However, instead of saying this they embarrassingly asked my wife "is this Obama-care?... we don't take that insurance because we are a specialist and so you will have to pay for our care upfront...." I understand this office's attempts to save the viability of my budget and reduce it's bad debt expenses but the office's management of my budget and its bad debt is prejudiced and insulting; when all they have to do is explain how the system works, agree with their advertisements and insurance networks' policies then place a hold on my credit card for the expected charges before rendering service (just like a simple gas station charge does). What they did scared me into thinking that they would charge me fees that are not what they agreed to in their PPO contract; this could make the business side of their office a fraudulent operation. To add insult to injury my wife and I have experienced a better type of operational management from specialists less than 10 and 10 miles blocks from this office. I suppose some people cannot manage their operations as well as others. This critical failing may be what separates business who try and operate from those who know how to mitigate risk and thrive. I give Dr. Honore two stars only because she correctly identified my problem and prescribed the correct medication. When leaving she wanted me to schedule another appointment to follow up but with not having insurance and being a struggling college student her $150 charge can be a bit difficult to come up with. The medication she prescribed for my problem did clear it up, but it eventually started to come back. When trying to contact her i was not able to get a refill request on my prescription and she refused to even get on the phone to talk to me. If you don't give her money she does not care about helping you, I understand that this is her business and she is in it to make money as well as help people with their skin conditions. Although I believe that the money is much more important to her than actually helping you get better, something you don't want from a doctor of any sort. I contacted her office twice just to speak w/ her to ask simple questions which I don't believe require me to set a whole appointment. I didn't hear from her at all, she just wouldn't get on the phone. Her staff told me they would call me back twice and never did I had to call them to figure out why I hadn't heard from them, which was ridiculous. I've been going to see Dr. Collette Ara-Honore at Hyde Park Dermatology for almost a year now, and I've been very pleased with my experience. Not only are her rates affordable (I have a high deductible insurance policy with a rider on acne care because it was considered a pre-existing condition, so I pay for everything myself), but she's a cheerful, sunny person who remembers me every time. She also remembers details like the fact that I like to pay upfront instead of being billed, and have my prescriptions called in to my pharmacy. Best of all, I can walk to her office in under ten minutes. Note: She's having a baby in November 2008, so she may be out of the clinic for a while. THE GOOD: -Dr.Honore has a great bed side manner. -She spent time talking me through my questions and concerns -She gave me lots of free samples and discount cards for my prescription. Saved me hundreds of dollars! THE BAD: - Didn't solve my skin issues (which were mild to begin with) - The 2 months of Solodyn she prescribed me made my skin worse (Which is normal for the 1st few weeks... but not 7 weeks into an 8 week treatment!) -I experienced unpleasant side effects on this medication and when I called to inquire about stopping I was told "That is your decision..." -The office didn't directly address my side effect concerns and why my skin was getting worse. They also gave me no alternative suggestions for treatment if I stopped the Solodyn - When I cancelled my last appointment with her the office did not ask me if I wanted to reschedule, or the reason for my cancellation I really started off liking Dr. Honore, but the last few interactions I have had with the office has completely turned me off... read more

Do not go to this doctor (Dr. Collette Honore). I should have checked her ratings first! Horrible service, she wrote me a prescription to "pre-treat" for what she thought I had. I had to proactively reach out to obtain my results and schedule a biopsy. So again I proactively ask if I should use the medicine that she had pre-scribed in error as I had already purchased it. She clearly misdiagnosed me and under her direction, her receptionist said that I could try to take it back to the pharmacy and IF they would not I could bring it with and the doctor would take it and sell it (so I would get my money back that way). BUT I guess all calls are not recorded for quality assurance purposes. (Dr. Collette Honore) and her staff backtracked on what I was told, and out of the mouth (Dr. Collette Honore). 1. I saw the negative reviews before going to her, now 2 years ago, and still decided to try her because of a recommendation from a high school associate. From the first appointment, she's been down to earth, warm, friendly and excited with me when my hormonal acne started to clear. I now get compliments on my skin daily! I'll start off giving the brief bit of good: Dr. Honore is quick and to the point and provides effective treatment. I do not personally have doubt about that, though I have heard negative stories about her in this regard. I wanted to get something checked out and she did it quickly and it was very effective. The bad: -I had to wait close to half an hour AFTER my appointment time to actually see the Dr. -Their waiting room was packed with people, all of whom were annoyed at how they had been waiting well past their appointment time. -Their office messed up processing my insurance. Unlike a normal office that notifies you of this, they actually sent this directly to a claims agency. We got into contact with the office and they refused to process the insurance 'again' (mind you, after contacting the insurance company, they said that the paperwork was wholly incomplete), paid them directly since it wasn't a huge amount anyway (the check was cashed/deposited). -After we paid them directly, they didn't notify any of the claims agencies of this. For months I continued to receive calls (aggressive at that) and, after calling HPD half a dozen times, they insisted they had called and nothing was done. -They were at best, unprofessional throughout the whole process. They initially claimed it was a mistake with the insurance, then refused to reprocess the insurance, then said we didn't pay them directly (check was deposited, kind of difficult for that to happen), then laid blame on the claims agency. To be honest, I can even say the issue has been resolved because I received a call some days ago and had to direct them back to HPD. The only reason she is still in business is because she is pretty much the only dermatologist in the area outside of UCMC and because she is willing to do whatever the patient wants (if you want it and are willing to pay, she'll do it or give it). read more

I get a call and message left again I called office was closed or they weren't answering after following up on this payment. Called today for my follow up and Cida (Not sure how you spell) told me I was dropped from the office because of $80 I tried to pay! Btw I requested to settle this today as well. What patient that has no intentions of paying call to pay?! We are still in a pandemic and many people aren't even working, so if this is how patients are treated I'm happy to move on. Crazy thing is I referred 5 new patients to her office and I'll be reaching out to them and taking them with me to Dr. Donna Stockton's office where the staff is friendly and knows US as patients help keep their lights on and pay their receptionist salaries. I've seen Dr. Ara-Honore 3 times in 2009. My first visit was with Dr. Ara-Honore was while she was in group practice. I found her to be personable, professional and knowledgeable. My second interaction was for a follow up. She was timely and professional. Dr. Ara-Honore advised and educated me. She spent more than 15 minutes working with me. I felt so comfortable with her that I made an appointment to see her after she left the group practice. She was late that day, about 25 minutes, her desk staff kept us informed. I have been seeing her for 2 years and the problem has been solved in short my hair was falling out and we could not figure out why she figured it out and no one would know today that I had 2 bald spots. I agree with most of the other reviewers. Dr. Honore is a good doctor and attempts to completely address all of your concerns but her staff........OH Lord, NO! They seem nice enough when you are at the office, but they must be completely incompetent about medical billing and insurance claims. They were paid by my insurance company and then they billed me for the same service. When I finally received the bill, six months later, I called my insurance company and was told that the bill was already paid. I started receiving collection notices about this bill. When I called the office and provided proof that I was being double billed, Marissa told me, "well, you still didn't pay your bill." My response was "why would I pay a bill that was incorrect?" Apparently this made no sense too her. I asked to make an appointment with the doctor so that I could speak with her about this issue, basically I had to pay her for my concerns to be hear. Like most of the other reviews Dr Honore is a nice doctor but her office staff will be her downfall. They are very rude and unprofessional. I called the office and spoke to supposedly someone by the name of Ida who says she's the office manager regarding a bill that was sent to collections that I didn't even know I had. Ida was extremely rude and nasty because I questioned the bill because I hadn't seen the doctor since this time last year and my insurance paid it and on top of that I was charged late fees.
