I spent 2 nights at this Hyatt in June 2026. It's decent but not amazing and slightly worn and dated. We locked ourselves out of the room safe and had to make two phone calls to the front desk to get someone from maintenance in to help out. After he "fixed" it it still didn't work. The rest of my family had an issue with their room (no hot water) and ended up moving rooms on the first day. I'd probably do better research as to what else is available in Deerfield if I go back. read more

It was comfortable but the room had funny smell. 1. Price: decent It is not one of the cheaper places to stay close to the Chicago area. However, this location was the closest for my work purposes, so it was chosen. 2. Cleanliness: 4 stars It was a bit dusty on the shelves and window area. Bed was made and it was clean. 3. Noise: 5 stars I had a room away from the elevators and major walkway, so it was quiet and had no disturbance during the weekend. 4. Smell: 2 stars I could barely tolerate the weird smell, maybe the humidity and old AC filter not working and/or making weird smell. The windows don't open, so there is no way to get nice fresh air. They should open this up! All hotels in Europe has windows open! 5. Breakfast not included and they make it clear from the get-go. 6. Had a positive experience here (and other Hyatt's) we stayed here again on our recent trip to the Chicago area. We arrived early, mid afternoon about 90 minutes before "official" check in time. Of course you understand if the hotel was full the night before, you may have to wait. I was offered a room if I was willing to pay an early check in charge. After pointing out my Hyatt status (which they already knew) the charge was waived. The staff I encountered however were still "Hyatt Quality" and helpful in other areas. Several years ago I recounted how the hotel seemed well maintained despite not being a newer hotel. That is no longer the case. Hallway walls had many scrapes and the elevators weren't much better. Toilet paper holder wouldn't stay attached and the water pressure was so poor, rinsing was a challenge especially if you washed your hair. Simply a list of annoyances that may not bother other people but they sure bothered me. There were many youth traveling sports teams staying at this property when we were there. I was expecting the worse but the kids were well behaved without the usually running up and down the halls and loud noises. Bar was busy and as good as we remember. I went from 4 to 3 stars because our stay was acceptable but not much more. I've always regarded the Hyatt Regency product on par with better Marriotts and Hiltons. Slightly more upscale and plush. Maybe it's a sign of the times but it seems there's some slippage here. read more

This place sucks!!! They CHARGE you for "continental breakfast", not free with your room like every other hotel. It was $50 for 2 people! Garbage buffet stuff thats free everywhere other hotel. Beds-- gross!!!! They do not use mattress protectors, or even fitted sheets! The bare mattress is exposed, with just a thin flat sheet placed over top, if you move a muscle while sleeping now you are on the bare mattress. I asked the lobby, and no they have neither fitted sheets or mattress protectors. Dirty bare mattress it is I guess. Disgusting! Overpriced! Our room repeatedly had someone smoking come in through the vents. It woke me this morning at 5 AM from a deep sleep. We complained multiple times to the staff, and they just brought us an odor spray, but did nothing else to try and make it right. read more

This hotel has very well decorated rooms with comfortable space. A great area for happy hour at the bar and plenty of places to hang out if you're with larger groups. I loved the space in the room. However, the sheets are so rough and scratchy it was hard to sleep. I've had better bedding at low end hotels so this was really disappointing given how upscale the hotel should be. No matter how low I turned the air down it was hot all night. Not sure if it was broke or if the Hyatt is yet another hotel that centrally controls the air and just makes you think you can adjust it. read more

During my 8-night stay at Regency Hotel Deerfield, I would like to give this hotel a 5-star rating for their accommodation of allowing us to bring food and drinks to the lounge, which provided us with the perfect opportunity to have a quick get-together after attending the WTMU SEMINAR. We have a Hyatt card. We're top tier members, so we've been to a ton. Over the past couple years, the chain has gone down hill. This hotel, which we always looked forward to, was no exception. Don't get me wrong, our room was shockingly clean and updated. I use that term, because the filthy elevators and run down, gross hallway leading to it was terrible. Our suite was modern and clean, thankfully. We had two large windows. The gym area is great for a small gym. Some resistance equipment, 2 ellipticals, a stationary bike, and four treadmills. The pool would have been big enough to swim laps. Very clean compared to the last place we stayed. Would have been nice to get refills on soap and coffee cups when house keeping came. But, that said, housekeeping is hard to come by anymore in general, and they gave us fresh bedding. The restaurant offered a nice buffet with a lot of options, and quick service. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, oatmeal, and a couple more options. They gave us coffee to go and didn't charge us for our three year old. Also, less than minutes from Six Flags and 10 minutes from a sit down Lou Malnatis, which I highly recommend. They also have a huge atrium and full bar. We'll probably be back. read more

A convenient Uber ride from either airport as I found out. Separate story. Don't fly Spirit airlines ever separate story. An Oasis for the weary traveler. Lets start with the staff because that's where you should for any hotel. Super accommodating. Delayed flight late check in late check out need something want something a ride to a nearby restaurant a ride to the train station they have you covered and make it happen. They listen they work with you to help with any issues that arise. Outside of the hotel I think I had every issue imaginable. Just kept them informed and they worked with me to remedy the problem. Cute rooms. Not large by any means but use of space allows you to spread out and be comfortable. Room to work, relax take a nap separate from the bed watch TV make calls all in a pretty small space. Great breakfast buffet quick service check out when booking add the breakfast it's half price $10 vrs $20 they charge if you just walk in. Well worth it as the buffet is changed and cleaned and well maintained. Plenty of options for all in the buffet. Really nothing is missed. Become a member and save even more on your online booking. Membership is free. You will get emails about deals which you can turn off after the first one. Worth the difference in savings Only drawback if you consider it. Is distance from downtown. No you can't walk there. You have to take an Uber. Or Lyft or whatever service you choose. read more

I've stayed in hundreds of motels and hotels around the U.S. over the past 25 years, but I've never had an experience like at this Hyatt. This week my family and I came to Chicago for the holidays and we had the misfortune to stay here for three nights. I've never stayed in a more uncomfortable hotel room in my life. When me and my partner walked into the room it was about 80 degrees inside the bedroom and for the first two nights barely cooled off. The bed itself was hard and extremely uncomfortable and the blankets they supplied us with were thin and corse and and extremely cheap. I have stayed in motel 6's that had nicer sheets and beds than this Hyatt. Aside from the bed and sheets the running water in the sink was also low and the bathroom and shower fixtures were cheap and oddly laid out and all in all was just an extremely uncomfortable experience. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because staff is friendly and the breakfast that they charge 20 dollars a person for isn't bad and the lobby is nice. I would never stay here again. read more

We came to check in at around 3pm and they didn't have a room with a bathtub available. After calling housekeeping they said they found a king bed with a pullout couch that had a bath. After getting into the room we found out there is no bath and requested to switch. We switched rooms FIVE TIMES. It took 5 rooms before we actually made it into a room with a bathtub. They said they'd comp us some points and the rest of the stay went okay. The rooms were all really far from the elevator. The lobby was gorgeous, the staff was exceptional, the breakfast buffet they provided our group was fantastic (except the last day, the orange juice was completely watered down). They were super welcoming and accommodating to the hundreds of youth hockey players that took over their property. The negative. This hotel is mostly terrible. It's fine if you're traveling for businesses nearby, but the hotel itself is just bad. The door to the toilet is a sliding door that doesn't actually cover the doorway. There is no exhaust fan in the restroom (imagine having your first overnight trip with a new love interest and not being able to clear the air after your morning dump!) They charge $20 per person for what amounts to a terrible continental breakfast of soggy eggs and undercooked sausage. There is absolutely nothing within a 10 minute walk to eat/drink, so unless you have a vehicle you're completely screwed for options outside the terrible on-site bar/restaurant. The front desk staff refused to provide me with a couple of decent wine glasses, instead telling me I could ask the bar (it's closed between 1pm-5pm). So I had to break in to the bar and grab them from the dishwasher myself. I held them up to the camera to prove I was only taking glasses and not stealing. This was the most unwelcoming stay I've had in awhile and I advise choosing any other hotel in the area as there are 2 other chain options within the same neighborhood if you must stay out here. Hotel itself is fine -- clean, modern, lots of hangout space, comfy couches in the lobby area. Our room (a corner) was large, with a semi-separate lounging/work area. Front desk people were lovely, very helpful However. A few misses: No door between bedroom area and vanity, one of my pet peeves in lodging design. Worse yet, the light in the vanity is controlled by an automatic motion sensor -- no way I found to turn it off. We were only there for the day (construction at our house), so it wasn't an issue, but I envisioned covering it with a Band-Aid if we had had to stay overnight. Nice little work desk, but no ethernet connection and the surface was a super-shiny, super-slick marble-ish material where my mouse just slid around helplessly. Note to self: Make sure mouse pad is in computer bag next time I leave home. No microwave. No way to get hot water for tea, except to run it through the pod-based coffeemaker. Tea-drinkers like my husband Do Not Like coffeee-flavored tea water. Another pet peeve. Fridge was nice, but small. No way to store tall bottles. And, although they have signage that says they "proudly serve Starbucks," they had no beverage service at 2PM on a weekday. The hotel did not seem to be very full, so maybe that depends on occupancy, but still.... Knowing all this I would still probably go back if we need to "camp out" again, but will be more prepared. read more

I stayed at hyatt deerfield 6/7-8 due to proximity to a restaurant I was going to for dinner and ease of not having to drive back to the city late. I did self check in online but still had to wait for keycard for access. i was passively greeted and staff failed to mention hotel amenities. I initially brought up concerns with front desk staff but have not heard back from housekeeping management at this time. I have attempted to reach out to hyatt directly regarding my experience but as of 6/27, I have not heard back. I noticed blood on our sheets around 10:50 PM. We called down to the front desk and requested the sheets be changed; we were unaware that housekeeping staff was unavailable at that time. Custodial or maintenance came up after approximately 15 minutes and partly dropped off sheets. Upon requesting complete new linen and reiterating the reason for needing new sheets, the gentleman accused my boyfriend of cutting himself shaving . His tone and demeanor were rude, condescending, and unnecessary. Being unable to change the sheets ourselves, I called back down to the front desk to request housekeeping. This was when I was told housekeeping is no longer on site. I requested our room be changed and confirmed it was recently cleaned to accommodate us for the evening. The following day while taking a shower, I noticed hair in the shower indicating it had not been effectively cleaned. Upon check out, I confirmed with the front desk staff, Diamond, that a message was added to my account for the housekeeping manager to follow up since they were not on site at that time. Having not heard from them by 6/10/22, I reached out and left a voicemail and followed up with an additional call and email on 6/13. I additionally reached out to hyatt directly but was rerouted to a third party site who provided an invalid website link to submit complaint online. read more

Speeding past the Hyatt Regency Deerfield on Lake-Cook, you'd be justified in thinking it was another corporate behemoth from the 80s. Step inside, and while it's still undeniably corporate, the rooms have that new-hotel smell. The rooms are spacious, ersatz suites that are stylishly furnished with much evident attention to mid-century modernish detail. The room I occupied (504) was as far away from the elevators as possible, and walking a quarter mile each way was a neat excuse for skipping the gym. The bed was firm and comfortable. I would have slept well, but I was way too easily and constantly able to hear noise from the street, the hallway, and neighboring rooms. Since the room was evidently recently remodeled, you'd think they could have improved the soundproofing. There was unnecessary noise even within the room, where the volume on the TV doesn't go below "10." Because only Globalist status includes breakfast, it's a good thing that the room is equipped with a spotless, efficient mini-fridge. Service was satisfactory. Front-desk staff were conspicuously young and cheerful, but professional. They'll send up pretty much anything you need. Housekeeping was a little less satisfactory. On the third day they confiscated my "currently occupied" door hanger, made my bed, and replaced the toiletries I used. These are by Pharmacopia, which are vegan and organic, based on argan oil. However, my wastebaskets were not emptied, but then they weren't at all full. They also left my unorthodox coffee setup undisturbed, so I guess I can't complain too much. I'm a Hilton regular, with Diamond status and a hoard of easy-to-earn points to spend at a sprawling chain with a huge footprint, but the frequent-flying cognoscenti were raving about Hyatt, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. This property was recategorized to cat 1 in March, but it would be a bargain even if it did not cost only 5000 points per night. The location is quite convenient, right off the I-90/94 if you're driving, near the Deerfield Metra Station if you're not, for easy access to the city. For my purposes, the Hyatt Regency Deerfield is convenient and comfortable enough that not only will I return, but I'm also hanging on to my Hyatt card. I'm still a Hilton regular, though. read more

This is my go to choice for a hotel whenever I am visiting my Vernon hills office. The facilities is very clean and has 6 floors, the front desk staff are always very helpful during check in. It's always a breeze. I am a Hyatt globalist so I get perks like a free bottle of Evian water and breakfast every morning which is your standard breakfast buffet but I like that I have the option to grab food to go from the counter. I usually get a naked juice and a breakfast item I've tried most of the breakfast wraps and they have all been delicious and filling. They have other things too so this globalist perk is nice. The gym on-site is 24/7 it has treadmills, ellipticals, a few machines, and your usual dumbbells to 50. The only issue I have with this location is that the business center uses Macs and the printers did not have any ink so I wasn't able to print some things on my own I had to email it to front desk and they printed for me. read more

A great hotel for business travelers. The front desk staff is, like most Chicagoans, very welcoming. The rooms are well-appointed, and the leather desk chair is comfortable. The WiFi connection is excellent, and the noise level from the other rooms is low. The Deerfield Hyatt offers a free station in the lobby where you can print your boarding pass before you leave for the airport - a nice touch. The shuttle service is complimentary, and Doug, my driver, was super-friendly and got me to my destination on time. Another bonus is the in-house restaurant, Jaxx Bistro & Lounge. Maintenance needs to take a look at a few things. 1) I had to get two sets of keys to try and gain access to my room. Finally I was told the battery is low in the door lock set so I was issued another room after a long day and longer walks to/from the front desk. 2) shower water temp is luke at best. Crank it up a bit. 3) half of the TV channels don't work. Weak signals or scrambled. Others in our party had similar experiences. The problems are systemic . Breakfast is still in COVID Paradise lockdown status meaning... the rest of the country continues to operate freely and certain pockets of the country are clinging to the COVID restriction doctrine of limited menu, limited service, mandates and other counterproductive measures that make travel to their property and cities less than desirable. Can I give zero or negative stars!? I've never had a worse experience with a hotel in my life, and I travel for a living. I made reservations for ten rooms for myself and nine others. People drove hundreds of miles for a two day meeting. One individual had to travel with a small pet in order to attend. There was no pet policy easily found on the website. I called to ask and was told pets were allowed but only in rooms on the first floor. I stayed on the line with a woman named Diamond as she switched the room for this person to the first floor. I got a confirmation # and also called once more to confirm. When the guest arrived, a hotel rep named Jason refused to check the person in saying the hotel had a strict no pet policy. I was present and explained that we'd called in advance, had a lengthy discussion, the room was moved to comply with the pet policy, and I had the name of the person we worked with to make the reservation and a confirmation number. He simply said "we have a strict no pet policy you cannot stay here" and "we do not do not do not allow any animals of any sort". Three other hotel reps stood and stared and literally glared at individual trying to check in. I said, we received wrong information and Jason said "the best I can do is not charge you for the two nights." This person was left standing in the lobby with nowhere to go, no one from the hotel offering any sort of help (the error was made by hotel staff not the hotel guest), and needing to get to a business meeting starting in less than an hour. Upon arriving home, this guest was indeed charged for two nights at a hotel that said "you cannot stay here" and refused to honor the reservation. People travel to hotels. When you travel and are refused entry you have no recourse. All of the power is with a front desk clerk with a bad attitude, no customer service skills, and apparently a propensity for lying since he did not cancel the reservation and reverse charges. You could get better customer service from teenagers at a fast food restaurant. Part of calling a property a "luxury" hotel includes excellent customer service from highly trained staff. This hotel failed twice: incorrect information and terrible treatment of a person put into a bad situation by the hotel itself. read more

The guest room very "dark" - need to turn in several lamps to navigate room - I wonder if anyone ever spent a night before they went with design. Also lacking with outlets for easy charging of multiple devises - room so dark couldn't tell that device near bed was for outlets - thought it was broken alarm clock. Just overall underwhelming experience. Plus a colleague received conflicting information on pet policy that caused them to relocate, despite a pre-visit call that assured them her pet would be welcomed, but at check/in they were denied. I rate hotels on sleep quality. This Hyatt is located right beside a major roadway which is great if you like city noise. Second the A/C in the hotel is the dreaded "central air" style, so if the hotel decides to shut it off at night (which they do), your room becomes the typical central air sauna. There are Hampton inn's and other cheaper options which are more secluded and have actual individual HVAC systems nearby. read more

This is a convenient location for meeting someone for coffee, breakfast or lunch in the north burbs. It has a large lobby, well spaced out for privacy. One downside is it can be loud. But in general a good place to work. When the weather is nice, they have tables outside you can meet at. The restaurant is a typical hotel restaurant. Food is ok, not great. I'd give the food 2 or 3 stars. Also, you're paying hotel prices. I wouldn't come here for that. Service is top shelf, the people are great. It's also very clean. read more

Dismal from the word go. Reception was lacking and disorganized upon check in. I should have taken this as a sign. If there is management here, I see no evidence of oversight. Every employee seems unmotivated and unwilling to assist with concerns. Don't eat the food here. It is not very good but it really is the service that makes it a horrible experience. I love the Hyatt overall. I was in town because my daughter was graduating from the Navy and this Hyatt location was the closest to Great Lakes. Check In was easy but I was a little confused with the security hold. Nevertheless, overall, great experience at the hotel. Our room was the very far back which frustrated hubby a bit but the room itself was nice. Very clean rooms. Our bed was made daily and provided fresh towels, soap, and lotion. We didn't dine in at the hotel but walking in, it's really nice with spacious room and even a piano in the middle. 2/2019 read more

The staff is super friendly. I wouldn't consider it Grade A service -- nobody is running to grab your bags or anything, but everyone is courteous when approached. Plus here. There's a little restaurant and a bar, and the food here is actually pretty decent. Obviously, no Michelin star joint or anything, but it's passable. Prices are probably on the higher side, but hey, it's a hotel. Their breakfast buffet is pretty good. It's stocked with the essentials like eggs, sausages, potatoes, pancakes, etc., a fresh fruit bar, and pastries. The rooms are decently spacious, but I really wasn't a fan of how when you flick on the light switch, only one dinky lamp turns on, so you've got to go manually flick on every other lamp to have a decently lit room. You can take a look at my pictures for how the room is set up. It basically had a faux living room due to the TV set up, which was cool, but you couldn't watch TV in bed, which was definitely NOT cool. Of course, the linens are made daily and are of good quality. Slept like a baby when I was there this last week. Walls are a little thin though, especially near in the bathroom. Prepare to eavesdrop on everyone in the hallway. They provide an array of complimentary items in case you forgot them, ranging from Q tips to tooth brushes and even shoe horns. Like an idiot, I forgot my travel toothbrush and toothpaste in SF, but they took care of me and sent it right on up. Entertainment around the area is pretty scarce from what I can tell. Then again, I live downtown, so maybe I'm being unfair. But otherwise, nice spot! read more

I must say, this Hyatt is usually pretty crowded and entertaining. The fact that they are surrounded by huge businesses and as close to the tollway as you can get (and a mile or so to the edens) are certainly useful things. On some nights they have a wii and wii sports, combine that with drunkenness and you can imagine the entertainment value! Overall, the rooms are pretty spacious if you get the king bed rooms. They usually consist of a cough, lounge chair with ottoman, desk area for working (with a ethernet jack or phone jack, not sure), nice swivel tv, bed and climate control. Every time I have come here to visit friends, etc or just stay I have been pretty impressed. The layout is nice in the lobby, on busy days they have a pretty good sized standard buffet with consistently fresh (but not that varied food). The room service food however is extremely elaborate but definitely overpriced. An Ahi Tuna sandwich for like 16$? I mean Ahi is awesome, but jesus anything over $10 for that is just overkill. However, rooms are always fresh and clean and the place doesn't have any kind of slack or trashy approach to it. Definitely a nice hotel to stay at, if you have the hookup or something. I believe freelancer's union has discounts at the hyatt. Gym is clean, pool looks nice (never checked it out), and damn close to great towns and places. Since yelpers would be reading this I'm sure they can find the good stuff nearby....good old chicago rule: Everything is 45 minutes away by car. Oh yeah. They have real high speed internet but it's a freakin scam price at the time of this writing (17$ a night for "broadband" or 10$ for web surfing? talk about costly for a 225KB/s cap). I'd rather tether my phone than pay for that. read more

I had low expectations and was still let down. I gott two rooms one for my parents and the other for my sister, nephew and myself through Hotwire. My parents room reeked of cigerette smoke. Our room however had a roach and the fridge smelt like someone let food spoil in it (I picked up the welcome book and the next thing I knew there was a roach crawling on my arm.) Called down, they were apologetic and asked if we wanted a different room. They threw in two breakfast vouchers for a three person room and shortly after brought keys to the new room. The new room appeared clean until we came back to the room for the night. *side note when we returned to the hotel another bug fell on me in the interior of the hotel and went down my shirt. Two bugs in one hotel stay. When showering I discover that the shower head worked but was also spraying onto the ceiling. That didn't look like a new issue since it was clearly repainted. In the morning I pushed back the window covers to check the cloud coverage to determine if the Willis Tower would worth the trip, noted a folded pair of socks covered in dust. The one plus was that Jaxx was able to accommodate us for a late meal 20 minutes before closing. However, even though room service is open until 11, versus 10 for te resturant, they were essentially closed and packed up for the evening. The fact that I felt the need to create a Yelp account to review this hotel says a lot. Needless to say this hotel is not some place I would intentionally return to. read more
