King bed

I had Expedia points so to celebrate a special occasion, we decided to spend the night at the Hyatt, one of the newest hotels along 100 Avenue. The parking was plentiful as it wasn't busy for a weekday. The check in is at 3PM and we arrived after to be greeted by 2 staff behind the counter. The staff was friendly and provided the 411: we would need our room keys in the elevator to access our floor (which I liked that extra security), they have Starbucks, a bar, and also 24/7 restaurant that you can order food and come downstairs to pick up, directed us to where the gym and pool are located, and to the business centre where we could access a printer as well. The lobby is spacious and lots of seating by the bar area, and walking from the check in desk towards the elevator, there are a couple of nooks with seating for 2 or 3 and a TV to a private viewing area and they all had on hockey. There was just one elevator working as the other was out of order but it was quick and I never had to wait more than 30 seconds for the elevator. Our king bed room was on the 6th floor and it was large. There's was a L sofa, desk, mini fridge, TV, and closet. The bathroom had a large shower but no bathtub and with the frosted glass door, it wasn't that private and you could hear the goings on in the bathroom but we are with friends and family, right? It was very clean, and comfortable, and lots of room. With the roll down curtains, it was very dark for the night and great for people who like it pitch black. Wifi was reliable and quick. There were a noise that I heard in the evening, but I wasn't quite sure what it was. Maybe laundry, or something? I wasn't sure if it would disrupt my sleep but I was able to fall asleep. I'm glad the hotel wasn't busy as I didn't hear noise from other guests or water running, although I did hear a few doors open/close. The help yourself buffet breakfast was until 9AM the next morning, even though check out is 11AM. We were there at 8:30AM and found only a handful of tables occupied with people eating. The open concept is good, especially if it was busy. The main area had jugs of water and juices. There was cereal, yogurt, granola, fruit, ham, eggs, potatoes (wouldn't recommend), and waffles. There was also a toaster with English muffins and bread. I liked the fresh fruit salad and made a sandwich with my toasted English muffin, eggs, and ham. The coffee and tea were located outside of the main area and in the bar area so on the way out we got a coffee and tea. The gym had 3 treadmills, an elliptical, a bike, and free weights. There were sanitizing towels, water cooler, and earbuds. The machines were great with the TVs and lots of channels available. I also used the pool but there's no change room so change upstairs before you head down. There is a shower just off to the side of the pool but it's not private. There's a hot tub too but I didn't use it. The pool was quiet when I went at 9PM and I was the only one there. It's open until 11PM and the last hour, it's adults only. This is a great new hotel addition in the west end. I enjoyed our stay, even just to get away from work and home life for a day!

This hotel met my expectations! I booked my stay according to TripAdvisor reviews. It was very modern, clean and I really enjoyed the music they played in the lobby and front entrance. I booked this stay dependent on the location and breakfast. Gym would have been nice but it was only cardio and free weights (no machines or cables). The room was spacious, immaculate in cleanliness. I would have enjoyed a microwave, free bottled water ($3.50ea) and a bathtub so I could shave my legs easier, haha. The breakfast was varied day to day which I also liked. It would be nice if they could have left the coffee on for longer than breakfast time, otherwise excellent stay!

Kind of an overview of my personal experience staying the night at this hotel. Overall would definitely recommend staying here for short vacation stays. Day 1: Check-In Day - lobby was very clean (and smelled strangely amazing) - cute minimalist rooms - front doors to the rooms are heavy and require you to pull them shut otherwise will remain open - excellent and efficient service/super friendly staff (asked to check in early and were very accommodating, also asked for an extra duvet cover and arrived very quickly to fulfil our request) - relatively empty hotel, not crowded (could be because of the recent hotel opening) - the room was very clean, even smelled "new" (this could also be due to recent opening of hotel) - the bathroom door was kind of odd.. Had a modern frosted glass finish (which didn't feel the most private) and got jammed halfway when opening (unless you wanted to force it open and make a high pitched screeching sound) - walls are very thin, can hear other people very easily at 12pm - the gym is very nice, small, typically empty and has a view of the pool (also small) which is really convenient if you want to workout and keep an eye on the kids Day 2: Check-Out Day - black out curtains are excellent - they also make it difficult to wake up on time for the free breakfast (weekdays: ends at 9am, weekends: ends at 10) - breakfast is really good, lots of variety and set up like a buffet style so plenty of refills - check out was smooth and without hassle

Waiting outside for the fire department to let us back in.

It is also 3X the average price of hotels parking in this area. They do not tell you the parking next door is 3rd party not included in your stay, it is $100 fine if you park there and don't pay the 3rd party. All the trucks had the same fine in the morning. Management did nothing about this. We found the hotel new and bright. The room was large, water pressure was good, had a nice hairdryer, there was also an iron, bar fridge, kuereg coffee maker, flat screen tv. We were on the 11th floor, looking out over the river valley. The restaurant & lounge were beautiful, open airy and had great views. We didn't eat or drink there but took a look around. The gym is well equipped & the hot tub is the size of a pool. Check in was quick and they fave us complementary warm chocolate chip cookies A negative was the very thin walls, it is a family hotel and the morning are filled with the sounds of children for good or bad lol. The mattress is extra firm, depending on your preference that is good or bad. The location is at the far east end of Jasper Ave, still decent for most shopping, dining & access to the ICE district.

From the moment we arrived, no one was available to greet or seat our party, leaving us standing around and unsure what to do. Service was virtually nonexistent; we waited 15 minutes just to get coffee, and ultimately had to track down juice ourselves. The food experience was just as disappointing. Items were cold, poorly maintained, and the display was visibly picked over, giving the impression that it had been sitting out for far too long. To make matters worse, there was no staff present to cook after waiting in line for an omelet, the Eggs Benedict was old and cold, and it seemed the other items were not being replenished. For what is marketed as a "luxury brunch," the experience fell far below even basic expectations. Considering the high cost per person and the expectation to tip 18%, this felt completely unjustified. I would strongly recommend skipping this brunch--it is simply not worth the price or the frustration.

Dinner buffet menu may be drastically reduced, not as advertised on website, but they still charge…read morethe same higher price. Before booking a reservation for the Saturday night roast beef dinner buffet offered by the Royal Coach Dining Room at the Chateau Louis Hotel, we checked their website to view the menu/prices. As the menu from Saturday night, December 23 had not been updated on their website, we first called the restaurant to inquire if they were still having the same buffet on Saturday night, December 30. We were advised, 'yes,' the buffet was also going ahead the following weekend. When we arrived on December 30, we were disappointed to discover that the buffet items had been severely cut back from December 23 ... yet the price was still the same, not cheaper. We had really been looking forward to the roast turkey with cranberry walnut dressing, cioppino, basil cream gnocchi, apple cinnamon cake, pistachio rice pudding ... none of these items was, in fact, served at this buffet, yet we were still expected to pay the higher price as advertised for the fully stocked buffet the weekend before. While the food choices were okay, we were disappointed to attend a buffet with only 5 hot dishes, where 3 of the 5 items were steamed veggies, mashed potatoes, and rice. There are no dinner buns (someone in our group was a meat/potatoes/bread man), and coffee is extra at this buffet. (My personal opinion - for the full price charged for a reduced buffet, coffee should really be included.) If considering making a reservation for the buffet offered at this restaurant, be sure to call beforehand (better speak with someone knowledgeable like the restaurant manager) to inquire if they are serving the food items as advertised on their website, as the price doesn't get reduced when several menu items are struck off the list.

The potato salad was a favorite, as were the homemade hashbrowns and the roast beef. I was impressed to see asparagus as a side dish. I arrived bright and early and luckily was able to check in right away. Whenever I stay in a hotel I request being on a higher floor, so that I get a nice city view. So I was happy to be put up on the 6th floor that overlooked Whyte Ave and the city of Edmonton. A couple things to know: + The location of this hotel is perfect - right at the heart of Whyte Ave. There are plenty of bars, coffee shops, restaurants, and shops within a 5 minute walking distance. + Complimentary wine happy hour. I wasn't able to make it to this unfortunately since I was at an event, but if if I was free, y'all know I wouldn't miss the opportunity to sip on some free wine. + Complimentary breakfast buffet w/ all your basic continental goodies. I also did not partake in this complimentary feature, because this lil lady needed to catch up on some zzz's, but from the photos it looked bomb.com. + Comfy beds. I always feel teeny tiny when I sleep in a king bed. I burrito'ed myself in between all the blankets and 5 pillows, and I'm pretty sure if someone came into my room while I was sleeping they wouldn't be able to see me. I'm not sure if it was because I was exhausted or if the beds were just extremely comfy, but I passed out right away and slept through the whole night. + Strong free wifi. I had a lot of work to get done during my trip, so having strong wifi was necessary. Metterra delivered. I'd happily stay here again, hopefully for longer next time!
