I know I can find what I need at our HyVee. The employees are always friendly, helpful, and actually speak to you. The store is bright, cheery, and very welcoming. The HyVee Pharmacy has been efficient with all my prescriptions. I also get all my flu, covid, etc., shots through them. Very convenient. The food I have gotten from the fresh made pizza, Chinese, and other food areas has always been good. I like food prepared fresh so I know it will be good. read more

Skip the deli / dine in area. I had a bad feeling when I was placing my order. Was hoping to get some fresh fried chicken and maybe some tasty mashed potatoes or mac n cheese, but even though it was right around dinner time the chicken tasted like it had been sitting there since lunch time and the side dishes were kinda gross. Left most of my food uneaten, it was probably the smartest dining decision I made that day. It's really a shame because the grocery store is nice and a bet some of that stuff tastes ok if it was less than a half hour old. Small cafe seating area and fewer kitchen options than I would expect at a Hy-Vee in a town of this size. The Starbucks has its own alcove so you can get a coffee and sit at a table there instead of in the cafe if you aren't eating. Next to a nice park if you prefer a picnic lunch to eating in the cafe. read more

OLD one. Lots of parking in their private lot. Standard choices. Staff on any given day is on the young side and REALLY give you the feeling they don't want to be there. They have a Starbucks in the front. Restrooms are simple and were clean the day I was there. read more

In terms of options and Marshalltown this place should probably get 5 stars. A big plus to this food store is the salad bar. In a town where healthy food is virtually absent you can come here and get good options in the salad bar. Variety of greens, fresh vegetables, lots of chopped fruit, and then some cold premade food options as well. It's all you can eat for 8.50 if you eat there or 7.99 a lb to go (which doesn't end up being as worth it). Another plus to this grocery store is the beer/wine selection in the liquor section of the store. It was impressive to see some good craft beer in this part of Iowa. There's also a nice organic section with gluten free option. There's a starbucks located inside as well. Overall, this place is clean and provides a lot of options in Marshalltown. read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars because they provide variety for people looking for a quick bite to eat. I was in the mood for a salad, so grabbed a container and grabbed some salad with chicken, egg, olives and other veggies on top, fresh fruit, potato salad, and cole slaw. The lettuces was old and gross, the chicken tasted like rubber.. Everything else tasted great. Defiantly the kind of food my grandma would eat in a nursing home. The Pharmacy consistently screws up they have so many people running around behind the desk nobody knows what the other person is doing it seems that they are very unorganized and there are only several maybe two or three licensed pharmacist and the other people just don't know what the hell is going on today they told me that they would deliver my medicine which I have to have and then they told me when I called at 5 o'clock that they couldn't get it out sooner now I told them that is not my problem you told me that my medicine would be delivered today get in the catering vehicle and drop my medicine off my home which I was very surprised that they did the only people that are good that work there are the ones they brought over from Medicap. I believe their names are Annie and Amanda and I'm not sure about the other ones but they are the only ones that truly try to do their best the other people are just worthless I miss Medicap. read more

Wish they would go back to Varsity Cleaners in Cedar Falls. Mayfair Cleaners in Ames is poor, not only service but job they do. The prices are higher than other stores in the area (unless you are an avid ad shopper). The higher prices are defiantly worth paying as the store is always incredibly clean, the shelves are stocked, the staff is always courteous and friendly. They have a tremendous selection of food, including a separate health/organic section. The store attracts a better clientele than one of the other super stores I have reviewed which makes shopping more enjoyable. The grilled chicken in the deli is absolutely amazing as well as their General chicken from the Chinese department. I enjoy getting freshly sliced lunch meat from the counter in the back and the meat selection is wonderful. Highly recommended. If I have one complaint, it would be the slow moving pharmacy drive up. I do believe some of this is out of their control as customers do not see the request to pull to the back of the line as they are waiting for their prescription. This can cause traffic headaches in the parking lot as the long line clog the main entrance. A gentle reminder from the staff may help alleviate some of this. Even though staffed with numerous people, the pharmacy is always busy which I believe is a testament to the quality of their service. read more
