This is my "home" Hy Vee. You can find some colorful people here. Sometimes they're even salty and hard, like one of those sourdough tooth crackers that Snyder's makes. I'm going to guess they can make for tough customers. It's a pretty clean store and like all Hy Vees it's well stocked. They sell Don Javier's chips from Silvis, IL or somewhere over there by the Quad Cities. They're expensive, but they're the closest thing to the chips in a Mexican restaurant you can find. But I digress. The meat counter is good, there's no blood on floor on the customer side of the counter. The bakery same. Restaurant area ditto. I like Hy Vee's deli/restaurant but... man, the Chinese or "Hy-Chi" can be sketchy. It's not the employees' fault I'm sure. It's whatever recipes they use. Then again, it just might be Chinese food generally and it may be personal. The liquor store is great. You want booze, you got booze. This keeps the hard pretzel people I mentioned earlier happy. The staff is top notch. There's a really friendly woman who works here that is from Bosnia. She's got a clipped accent and based on what I saw I think she knows her regulars. I think working here probably requires a thick skin because you've got a mix of the Kirkwood students, the NewBo neighborhood (I assume - because that Hy Vee just north of down town - shuddering - it's a lil rough), and the pretzelish people mentioned above. Almost every time I got here I'm with my love which means I'm going to ask her loud enough for the cashier to hear what her name is today. Or whether she is using the credit card we found on the street the other day. Or if she can sign for the pseudo this time because I'm at my limit this time. Or "hurry up - I can see a cop and the Judge warned us what would happen if we broke the restraining order". Or the always reliable, "please don't hit me when we get out to the car - I'll be good". Granted sometimes the staff is dumbstruck, but most of the time they just smile and/or laugh and enjoy the drama. This is a good place to shop. Tell them Dick sent you. read more

The employees here are always very kind. The store is clean and I've never had issues when I need to replace something or return something. They also have a nice Starbucks. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is some of their prices are a little high at times and the wine and spirits is not as good as other Hy-Vees. For convenience and availability of items I really like going here. read more

A bunch of us at work had Hy-Vee pizza take out pizza today and this review is based solely on that pizza. I had 2 pieces. Pepperoni olive and a chicken Alfredo. It's flat, uninteresting pizza and it's unlikely I would be willing to consume any of it ever again. Hey-Vee should stop selling this bland product and reconsider their recipe if they want to be in this market. Start by using the correct pizza flour. The box it came in had more creativity than the pizza. read more

Where do I start going camping so had to get in wine and spirits nobody There had to wait for someone to open the gate so I could get what I needed. Then going to check out only one checker and 1 self check Isle open waited in the checker line to get me checked out with her using. Her hand held scanner. And me picking everything up from the far side of the checker to bring it to the other side to put in the cart. I used to make fun of Walmart and their service but anymore by far Walmart is better and safer. Just pathetic don't want to hear contact management because I have done that in the past. And does no good? This store has gone down hill fast not to mention on trying to enter the store is terrible. read more

They gave my aisles online order to someone else and I had to wait an extra hour for them to get my order again. Then another half an hour for me to head back to the store and receive some items they forgot. I would have spent less time grabbing it myself, which defeats the whole purpose. Very disappointed my their lack of service and follow through. read more

Stopped for lunch as I always try to do when I am in areas that have a Hy Vee. I had the smoked sausage lunch plate and it was fantastic some of the best smoked sausage I have ever eaten and omg the amount was huge!!! Would have been enough for two adults. Thank you Hy Vee of Cedar Rapids! All of the staff I Came In Contact with was above and beyond friendly and helpful. A great treat! I went here on a recommendation from a client as a great place to get dinner. I wasn't disappointed. Inside the store they have a market section with a chinese buffet (they fill), a salad bar, made to order pizza. There were more food options, but they didn't register with me. I had a Cobb salad. This was a clean, very bright well-lit store - a sharp contrast to the "back home" Canadian trend of using the least amount of light as possible. I spent some time wandering the store, just checking it out. I found it humorous, that shoe care and dog treats were in the same aisle. So fido can eat your shoes than you can look after them. The liquor store was nice and welcoming. I found most of what I wanted. Just no mid-range items like Courvosier, but it was good enough. The prices were better than the duty free in O'Hare. Still I liked it so much, I repeated the next evening, except at a different location. read more

Rude online service. Delivery was short no substitution or phone call before delivery. Now I have to pay another delivery fee when they could have emailed texted or call me. Very rude on the phone and just said sorry. Sorry only makes you feel better it does not fix the problem. I placed the order 3 days in advance so they had plenty of time. We had Hy-Vee cater our daughters wedding. The food was wonderful! Roast beef prepared via sous vide, herb chicken breast, and red potatoes were prepared perfectly! Highly recommend them. read more

I remember when this Hy-Vee before it was remodeled! Admittedly we never lived near enough to this Hy-Vee for me to frequent it, but when I stay with my brother, that is the nearest one to us. I do like this store, the set up, and especially the staff. I had so many people ask me if they could help me and even just say 'Good Morning' to me. I know I've been in the UK where they aren't particularly known for their customer service, but it helps to know that if I did need help, there are people around to help! read more

The most unprofessional, unknowledgeable, and disconnected health market leadership that I've run across

I drive at least - I don't know - at least 10 miles round trip to go to this Hy-Vee. I do love my Oakland Road Hy-Vee, but the Wilson Ave Hy-Vee has the better salad bar with better selections and options. I craved it today and made my journey. My consternation is that (applicable to all Hy-Vee salad bars) they only offer whole baby carrots and oversized vegetable cuts, but then other vegetables available in the salad bar are diced well. My whole point of paying premium prices for a salad from the salad bar vs purchasing all ingredients individually is for convenience. My goal is to circumvent any sort of preparation or cutting. Yet, the HyVee salad bars only give me the option of whole baby carrots or oversized veggies that will inevitably have to be cut. read more

There is a worker at this particular HyVee, I think the name is Matthew. He is probably the best worker I have seen in that store. All of the other workers in the store seem to not know the rules and dont know where anything is in the store. read more

I especially like the super-friendly guy who greets me at the front and in the parking lot. Get more employees like him. Love that they have ice cream made from coconut milk vs. cow milk- although still too sweet. Lemon poppyseed muffins are the best. read more
