I go to this Natural Grocers location about once a month to pickup my special allergy-free bread. They are the only place that I have found to sell at a reasonable price the Little Northern Bakehouse brand of Millet & Chia allergy-free bread. I really like the organization of this store and the ease of finding allergy-free/gluten-free items. I will definitely be returning to this Natural Grocers location. read more

I walked over while my car was getting an oil change around noon on a Friday. Large parking lot, easy access from Blairs Ferry road. Right when you walk in you are met with a large selection of produce, ALL of which is certified organic; most of it looked nice and fresh, a few wrinkled zucchini and peppers. Prices about average for organic produce. I walked in with an empty plastic water bottle hoping for a place to recycle it, but they don't have on site recycling for customers. Their selection of vitamins and supplements is insane!! It almost felt like a GNC in that part! I like how there are signs at the top of the aisles clearly marking where things were in this section, made it easy to find homeopathic allergy remedies. Right next to the supplements is their also impressive personal care section. They have such a selection of soaps, facial care, even make-up! I found different scents of soaps I already use, which was fun! I will definitely be back just because of that! Have a pet food section, toiletries, water, juices and other beverages....Not a large frozen section, but enough of the staples. They do have some bulk spices and nuts, but they are all pre-portioned in bags. They do not have a meat/chicken/seafood counter...Everything is packaged either refrigerated or frozen. Overall, a good experience...Get some on-site recycling please!! read more

Very clean store with an excellent and friendly staff! I'm a fan of their consistently fresh produce and my wife loves their large selection of vegetarian/meatless protein substitutions and kombucha. Prices on everyday items can be a bit pricey but that's usually expected at an organic store without your average name brand items. A large portion of the store is set aside for vitamins, minerals, and many other health supplements. read more

I love the size it is easy to navigate. Produce is WONDERFUL. Supplements, they have everything you can think of. We got a Turkey here for Thanksgiving and it was hands down the best Turkey I have ever had !!! Got a Nitrate Free ham for Christmas. It was from an Iowa supplier and was a fabulous addition to our Christmas dinner. read more

Update: Their service has stepped up dramatically since their first few months. Staff has been helpful and friendly. They have reviewed the local market and have adjusted their pricing to be pretty competitive. Great to see a place step up to take care of the local community. read more

The staff here is pretty miserable. I've been to a number of Natural Grocers and Vitamin Cottage locations in Colorado and this doesn't come close. One of the employees basically tried to trip my girlfriend (who has reduced peripheral vision from health issues), who then apologized to the employee as a courtesy. The employee just looked condescendingly at my girlfriend and walked away. Nice! Asked the manager Greg (doesn't even know what essential oils are, basically refuses to work at the register/at all) if they had any of a particular bread that was on sale and out of stock. He promptly said no and nothing more. I asked if he had any in the freezer. He quickly said no. I asked if I came back tomorrow morning, would the bread be stocked? He kinda looked around, realized it was...I don't know....kind of something an employee of the store might address, and immediately outsourced the task to THE KID RINGING UP MY GROCERIES. Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I are vegans and some of our products are simply not available elsewhere in Cedar Rapids. We just feel like complete suckers for giving any of our money to these awful people. read more

Well stocked when it comes to Vitamins and every day personal hygiene and cosmetic items. Excellent choice of gluten free products. Ton's of bulk nuts and dried fruit. Worrisome is that one of the trade marks of good will of the store to credit $0.05 to go to a good cause. But it's no longer being enforced by the staff. I bring my bags in for that purpose, and are OK not to get the money myself as long as it's being donated for what the store says they do. Not so recently. 3 weeks apart, each time a different cashier. Apologized but couldn't fix the error. Top it off one of the managers, perhaps even the owner did not deduct the coupon presented, even so we just talked about it. Since the item in question was very expensive, I noticed right away and he corrected. Their is a concerning trend downwards which needs watching. To sad. I felt this store was a good alternative to the local Co-op. Add-on 8/15/17 - Follow up on my 4th visit within one month. I now have to remind the cashier to have her/him credit the $0.05 for the bag. Not funny and this will be a reason, I may want to limit shopping here. If you don't follow through on the small stuff how can I trust you on the bigger things? Sadly. read more

Regis O is an obviously bias shill reviewer. Natural Grocers prices are much lower than the local New Pioneer Market. No clue what Regis O is talking about. No comparison in vitamin selection also. NG much better. Check the prices out for yourself. Don't believe it? Do the research. As for going out of business as Regis O says? Lmao. New Pioneer will go first if anything. I'd grown acquainted with Natural Grocers in Colorado and was excited to hear of this one opening in Cedar Rapids. I appreciate their overall business model in "vetting" products sold at their stores. I was happy to see after their grand opening that they also carry local brand organic products. On my visits there, I have found the staff to be helpful and friendly. As to the layout of the store: I have been to several Natural Grocers stores in different locations, and I felt each was "confusing" to me because I wasn't accustomed to the layout compared to my main store. I think it's one of those things that you just get accustomed to as you shop there. Love the free samples! It's the only place I've found that carries fresh wheatgrass for my indoor cats too. I also enjoy shopping at New Pioneer Food Co-Op and am hoping Cedar Rapids can sustain both stores -- each has something unique to offer. The prices are higher than Walmart, for example, for products you can find there; however, overall they are reasonably priced and regularly have markdowns in the store. I compared some of the organic products to Hy-Vee and found that Natural Grocers was overall lower. They also have a rewards program, {N}power, so you can load coupons and obtain special offers. read more
