Great little place! I searched all over town for fresh bean sprouts and was so pumped to find them here. There is a large walk-in cooler with a great assortment of produce harder to find or not sold at other stores. Also stocked up on rice noodles and some Asian cooking sauces here. Great variety, fair prices, and very friendly staff. They have several areas, and I was so surprised to find so much packed into a small area. Dry goods and frozen foods are on the main floor. I was happy to find that they were all labeled with prices, which I have to say is a problem I keep encountering at other Asian groceries. I was able to easily find the specialty items I needed right away. There is also a walk-in freezer full of fresh produce, and signs just outside the freezer detailing the types of produce. I even found duck meat, duck eggs, and fresh pho noodles and tufu inside. If you venture upstairs you will find a large variety of packaged noodles, drinks, rice, and cooking supplies. I really liked Saigon. It was a great experience after going to a different market where everything was expired and many items were not priced. I enjoy making many types of Asian food, so I'm sure I will be coming back here on the regular to pick up supplies. read more

I'm going to give this one a 5 star, but for all you that know how i review, this is all with taking into account the context (no 99 Ranch Markey within 1,000 miles). i went by one day after i had lunch at Phong Lan, which is next door. while the selection is comparable to the other asian markets in Iowa City, it does stand out in a couple of ways. they've got this entire section just dedicated to noodles & rice, and behind the counter is shelf for more traditional herbal medicines that i grew up with. But the best thing is that i found is that on Thurs/Friday's, they bring out Banh Mi (Vietnamese baquette sandwiches... Hoagie for some of you)! they've got them in pork & beef but no chicken. its not obvious so you have to look at it as they're all packaged up. be sure to ask for the pickled diakon, carrots & chili peppers as that is prepared in the back. it seemed like forever since i've last had one, and if anyone else knows where i can find it in CR or IC, please send me a note because this is of utmost importance. that last item alone bumps this to 5-stars. read more

This is the best Asian Grocery store in the area. Well, I think it's the only one in CR, but I like this one the best compared to the ones in Coralville and IC. Their prices are the cheapest between the other Asian stores. They have a lot of stuff to offer too. Always finding things that I enjoyed when I was back home. This is a wonderful Asian grocery store with friendly service and surprisingly good prices. I like to hit the condiment aisle hard - hot chili sauce, seasoning packets, peppers and the like. They have a decent refrigerated and fresh produce section too. read more

This grocery store is worth driving 30 minutes from Iowa City for. It's a small store but they have a good selection of South East Asian groceries with more variety and better prices than the stores in the IC/CV area that are more East Asian. Great selection of instant noodles (pho, pancit canton, other SE Asian things the IC/CV stores don't carry), kitchen supplies, and sauces. Best prices for fish sauce and banana ketchup! Everyone who works here is super nice and helpful if you're looking for anything in particular. The prices for mangoes (and other unique produce; plantains, Asian pears, jackfruit, etc) are great here as well. As another reviewer stated, it's no 99 Ranch, but for being in the Midwest and not in a heavy Asian city, this is great! read more

Not a huge Asian grocery connoisseur, but this little market is fully stocked (in my opinion). I can in search of some specific teas and left with some instant Pho bowls, seaweed snacks and other sweet treats! There is a small selection of produce and meats. Amazing customer service and the staff being willingly I help and answer my crazy and inquisitive questions was a definite plus. Will be back! read more

For it being in Cedar Rapids, the options here are pretty good. They have a second level you can check out utensils and Asian style cookware, which Yumei's does not have much of. This place is definitely better than the store in town and country that sells asian groceries and at a decent price. Frozen items are a lot better quality than the other asian markets in the area. read more

We had lunch at the Vietnamese restaurant next door and decided to stop in. They have a great selection of asian goods, especially considering it's location. The ladies working there were really friendly. I'd be glad to come back and support this store next time I'm passing through. read more

Just moved to IA and very pleased with the store. Clean & they have fresh produce. I have been to this place a couple of time and seems they keep their produce fresh. They carry some Middle Eastern brand too. Basically, they are international store. They have limited Indonesian brand but I could always get what I am looking for in a different brand. You just need to take your time browsing. The owners are very nice and they will try to find what you are looking for if they don't carry it in the store. Just bring a picture or empty packaging to show them. The price is very reasonable too. Glad to have this store in the area. read more

I do not live in CR. I drove over an hour to this store. It's a good store with a lot of stuffs, good stuffs, and the prices are cheap. The ladies there were really friendly. I'm glad I found this store. I definitely want to come back and recommend it to my friends read more

I'm so glad this store is here in CR. The Asian food in CR is not so great (Hyvee is as good as it gets) so I have to cook my own food. They have most of the ingredients I need for pho, pad thai, thai curry, stir fries, salad rolls, su mai, dumplings, spring rolls, and a depressingly small amount of fresh Asian veggies. They don't have specialty Thai items like galanga or kaffir lime leaves, at least not the times I have been there. There is also not a large selection of SE Asian fresh herbs, a must for SE Asian cuisine. They did have fresh lychee and dragon fruit. They had durian which I do not like. What's missing is a fresh Vietnamese bakery with the banh mi bread. They have the ingredients to make banh mi but no bread! The staff are helpful and very nice. The parking is not so great but free. This is a Vietnamese market so it caters to SE Asian food (Thai, Laos, Cambodian, Vietnamese). read more

I love going to this store, its been in CR for many years. Every time I go there I am greeted and feel welcome. Everything is organized and clean. Do go upstairs to see other food items. We go there to get lots of Asian veggies, pancit noodles, snacks for the kids and love the coco-rico pop. Glad its close to the interstate and First Ave as well. A very happy customer! read more

I guess Saigon Market is okay i don't like how it's small in there as for the price it's a soso, but honestly JoJo oriental store is more bigger/more space and price is way better and plus it has everything you need lol so much to pick from and the owner JoJo is really nice. Now moving onto The Asian Food Gift Shop it has space in there and alot to pick from too, price is good enough and they are nice ppls. And as for the Phong Lan if you want some real vietnamese food go to Chicago Pho Xe Tang they don't have only pho there or go to Des Moines they make some better vietnamese food just being honest to you ppls. read more

I have been going hear for many years.The store is very organized and tidy. The staff are helpful and courteous. The items I usally find there are egg roll wrappers,Coco Rico pop, shrimp chips, coconut crackers, teas, rice in bulk , rice by the pound, kangkong, ginger root, items for snack gifts, sweet bean items, soy sauce in bulk, its really endless. They do not carry cous cous though. I really like that they have kept this store around to serve Cedar Rapids. Its almost in the center of downtown so if you live NW/SE/NE its really worth the trip. read more
