This is probably my favorite Hy-Vee Market Grille/Cafe that I've been to. The staff is always very nice and helpful. They always have a fantastic selection of craft beers on tap and great food. I always get a specific special breakfast for my diet and they're always able to accommodate me. I have probably been to this Hy-Vee Market Grille/Cafe over a dozen times and I've never been disappointed. It used to be a full service restaurant but they recently changed it to a self-serve Hy-Vee Market Grille/Cafe Express, which is just as good. I will definitely be back! :) read more

Bought walnuts in the shell, the first one was black inside and the 2nd had a moldy/fuzzy substance and a small white, living worm. Threw the rest away. Bought 3 Haas avocados that felt and looked ripe from the outside, but were rock-hard inside. Hyvee produce has been very disappointing the last few weeks. read more

I've been a longtime Hy-Vee customer and I dare to say an OG Aisle Online member. Hy-Vee isn't... all smiles anymore. And while I still often shop here-- I've seriously been mulling around if I continue due to the following reasons... 1. Price. My family is GROWING. I don't mean in number but in size. The amount of food we go through as a household is super noticeable due to the prices. Pricing at Hy-Vee isn't super competitive when you compare them to the value of Costco, Fareway, WalMart, Trader Joes, Aldi... etc. For a long, long while milk at this location was $2-3 more expensive then any of those other locations. 2. Convenience of Aisle Online Delivery times aren't super competitive as compared to Costco or WalMart delivery-- which I use frequently. I have to put in an order hours and hours in advance to secure a delivery at HyVee whereas the others have a much shorter turn around. 3. Aisle Online Value $99 a year. The perks have changed, coupons have changed.... overall the value has gone downhill I feel. (To compare WalMart Plus offers: fuel discounts, access to streaming platforms, early access to deals, auto care, cash back and more.) 4. App I order on the app and compared to other apps I use for groceries this one glitches the most and isn't super intuitive in finding all the perks you are allowed as an Aisle Online member. It used to be super easy to see deals I was exclusively given but now it feels like they're hidden intentionally? Overall-- this HyVee is in a great location. The folks that work here are super friendly and helpful. Their selection is ok. But ultimately over the years their prices have gone way up (I get it, tis the times but HyVee more so than other businesses and this location more so than others in the IC area), and Aisle Online membership is something they are really pushing nowadays-- I really am not sure if its worth it. read more

Interesting set up; food counters, specifically with Chinese Food and another with pizza. And I think one other counter. And then there's a restaurant right passed those counters. Host, full bar, booth seats, and flat screen tvs throughout. I ate breakfast here a few times. Not exactly memorable, but good enough to return (obviously) without being disappointed. I would like to highlight their biscuits that they serve cut open horizontally and grilled or seared (?) to have a nice crunchy crust to spread butter and jam! So in this instance, completely fine to go to the grocery store hungry. In fact, I encourage it because you can go eat at their restaurant first. read more

I ordered a floral basket with bulbs for my daughter's birthday. I was not concerned with a price I just wanted it to be festive and special. When I saw the basket I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. There were only daffodils about 10? They looked very sparse and tired. WHY???? Doesn't anyone care anymore? I have ordered many floral and balloon arrangements and yes I have been disappointed before. BUT NOW I AM EXTREMELY UNHAPPY and I will NO LONGER order flowers from here. Very sad situation. read more

Great grocery store with a good beer selection, good cheese selection, excellent meat selection and really good produce for being in the middle of the country. We've found a lot of exotic items here too - hadn't seen Leechy in NC, but found it here! The highlight however are the "$3 Grab bags" - the way Hyvee gets rid of damaged or discontinued goods. They pile about $20 of random groceries into a paper bag and you get it for $3, but no peeking. It's like a really poorly planned out Christmas present! Well worth the $3 for the thrill in my mind and you always end up with a few things you'll use and the rest can go to a shelter or on the shelf at home. Great staff as well - people who will learn your name and really make the place feel like your neighborhood grocery store. read more

I've been to one HyVee back in Minnesota so I hadn't been to these very often. The store happens to be in walking distance from my house which is nice. The place was clean and it was nice. I liked the sales of Hawkeye gear. I had a little trouble trying to find someone to help me locate an item. Others that worked there just didn't seem that they were very happy and the store kind of made me feel a little depressed. But there's always that one cashier that can brighten up your day unfortunately I forgot her name. The rest of the store was great. read more

A family favorite for years. Grocery shopping, flowers, lots of deli options, and now we have the Market Grille. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the quality of the food (specifically fruit freshness) can vary from day to day, location to location. However, this has become our spot for weekend breakfast. Tons of menu options, breakfast buffet on Saturday and huge brunch buffet on Sunday. Don't forget the mimosas :) Good quality, gentle on the wallet, and you get a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. A Midwestern staple. Be sure to check out their Happy Hour menu, too! We are looking forward to going on a Wednesday sometime...half off sushi and wine bottles! read more

By advertising paraphernalia and asking a server, we were led to believe they had the NFL Sunday Ticket. With 12 TVs, it seemed like a good idea. We then found out that "it wasn't working". We asked to have the two local games put on the TVs and that was a chore too. The two girls working as servers (and apparently doubling as bar staff too) were very polite, but I felt clueless about sports. She forgot my beer the first time as I believe we flustered her with the questions about the games. Both of them did an excellent job checking in on us however and drinks stayed filled after the initial contact. I ordered the brisket burger. The patty was quite large and the bacon served on top of it was nice and crispy. The brisket was tasty, but there was a dearth of BBQ sauce. The hand-cut fries were very tasty. The ranch I added on the side seemed to come directly from Hellman's or Hidden Valley. One time, I saw a manager pop in, but he was about as useful as an 8-track tape. I'm not convinced this place knows what they want to be. Part of it appears they want to be an upscale bistro. But then they offer a buffet from the hot cases in the grocery store. Then they had gameday specials ($10 unlimited wings, $8 burgers w/bottomless fries, $6 fries, and half-price appetizers). Figure out what you want to be and focus on that, because its a hot mess otherwise. read more

#1) I was in the store tonight and I bought two of the same frozen meal and was charged two completely different prices for them ($2.29 / $4.49). I thought maybe it was my mistake, but when I checked it was the exact same item - not sure how this could happen, but it did. #2) This issue seams to stem across all HyVee locations. Prices on prepared deli meals, such as 'spaghetti with meatballs' vary greatly from one store to another - at one store a deli meal may be $4.99 and at another location the same meal in the same proportion may be $8.99. There seems to be no reasoning for the massive difference in price other than they are located at different stores. This is massively inconvenient as I have to comparatively shop between locations to find the meals I want at reasonable prices. These items should be standard across all locations. read more

The bread department, oh the bread department! Picking out our bread for the week might be my favorite part of grocery shopping! I love the old-timey Italian feel of going to the store for a baguette. They always have multiple types of bread and will cut the loaf for you. Also, those two free bread sample stands? oh man. The cheese selection is also pretty darn spectacular. They even have signage posted by various different cheeses to show how far the cheese has traveled from factory to grocery store. The staff is always ridiculously friendly and very helpful - I love that they walk you to the item you can't find rather than pointing in a random direction and saying, "umm I think it's three isles down, one hallway to the left, take four steps west, and maple syrup will be on your right." read more

I've been meaning to post a review for some time; I moved from Arizona to Iowa two years ago, and the people at this location gave me my first and continued impressions of Iowa. I've literally had hundreds of excellent customer experiences here, but I guess it's human nature that we're more inclined to escalate a complaint rather than a compliment. And I am disappointed that this location is turning from its current format, because they've done such a phenomenal job. Led by Jim, who works harder than any restaurant manager I've seen and is personable and friendly with everyone who walks into the the Market Cafe. The other managers, servers, and bartenders are outstanding as well. I typically come in on my own, but Katharine, Alexis, Nick, Madison, DJ, Jasmin, Victoria, Connie, Ben, and all the other employees make me feel as if I'm sitting at an eight-top because of their professionalism and customer service. But what I've come to find, is that is how they treat everyone! I am not a fan of the corporate decision at this point (which I will comment on a later time), as there is such a great model for leadership and teamwork exemplified in this establishment. I'm sure all will do well no matter where they go from here. read more

Went in on the 18th for a birthday cake for my little girl. We also picked up some Colby jack cheese cubes for a snack. As we walked to the front of the store, I saw a food service employee pull the glove off the back of his hand, wipe his nose on it and pull the glove back over his hand without washing or even attempting to go to a sink. Then after we bought our items and left we opened the cheese to find out it was moldy. We immediately returned and got new cheese. The good - the bakery did a great job with the cake. The bad - the cheese The ugly - the employee wiping his nose on the back of his hand and going back to immediately working with food. read more

The service here is the worst of any Hy-Vee I've been to, and it seems to start with their management. These people have no idea what it means to provide customer service or how to turn an upset customer into a happy one. The customer service counter is almost always in a bad mood and they will take their very aged bitterness out on anyone who walks up. The old woman working at the customer service counter gave me the literal worst service of my life, total attitude from the beginning to the end. When job interviews ask me about a time I received terrible service, my instance with Christi at the customer service counter will be what I will reference. She seemed to just hate her life in general and I tried to be understanding because I know how it is to have a long day, but she seems to get off on being an old catty maid. I brought cans to return after I finished my grocery shopping, and the machine rejected a few like usual. So I bagged those up, and brought them in along with my redemption receipts. I waited while she allowed two people to cut me in line. She then yelled NEXT and looked right at me. Okaaaay. I then asked her very politely to please redeem the tickets and informed her I had 5 cans in my bag that wouldn't accept. She snapped back at me the way only cranky bitter old women do, and told me that they can't take anything "without carbonation or without alcohol" so I began taking the bottles and cans out to show her what I had in the bag since clearly she didn't believe me. She then snapped at me again "I don't need to see those put them away". I replied "okay sorry well it seemed like you didn't believe me so I was showing you". She was extremely rude with a bad attitude that permeated her every movement and being. This is NOT the kind of person you should put behind the customer service counter. If this were MY store, I would immediately move her to a different department as her unhappiness is really affecting the CUSTOMER SERVICE counter. Really, pick better people for this, ideally you don't want people leaving a customer service counter feeling like crying. read more

The tiny liquor store next to the main grocery store has a lot more than you'd expect. First and foremost, there are plenty of good local and craft beers and wines (hint: that fab farmland isn't just for corn and soybeans anymore!). The coolers aren't packed with Bud LIght Lime and Old Style, ya'll, although they do have them. Heck, they even carry a few gluten-free beers. The shelves are loaded with a nifty selection of the hard stuff. I even picked up an Iowa-made bourbon and some neat-o Templeton Rye coasters! For you home-brewers, they have a surprisingly large stock of kits and accessories. They sell food here. As someone who enjoys food once in a while, I appreciate stores like Hy-Vee that sell food. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be food. Without a doubt, Hy-vee sells some of the food I have encountered. If you want food that is like food and which you can eat, I wholeheartedly recommend Hy-Vee. Solid food bro-ski. Let's say you are out and about on the town and you are in the mood for some food. Not just any food, you know, something that you can EAT. Lets start this with the fact that I live in the greatest food city on earth, San Francisco Ca,. That being said last year I walked from my hometown to NYC via Coralville IA. When I first got to this town, or shall I say small city in Iowa. This is BY FAR one of the best stocked grocery store in the country, mid-west for that matter. I would DEFINITELY come back to this place, eat at the little bar/ pizza restaurant in the front as many times as humanly possible. Lots of seafood as well. To my surprise. Great stop!!!!!!! Wow. This is definitely the best grocery store in a 150 mile radius. Actually, this is much more than a grocery store. Now equipped with full blown restaurant, gourmet cheese shop, sushi chef, Starbucks, nice little bar and everything else in-between. Hy-Vee is where I do the majority of my food shopping. The Fuel Saver program they have is wonderful and saves me considerably on gas when I buy items I normally would. You do have to be careful and make sure they are items you would normally buy because otherwise you might waste more money than you save. The prices are higher than Wal-mart but so is the selection and quality. I rarely go in looking for something I get on a normal basis and feel slighted because its 'sold out' or 'no longer carried' like other stores. The sales are almost always worth the trip and the meat counter is quality. The vegetable section is fresh and kept clean. I don't take items home from this section and find the item rotten then next day as I do from other places that sell groceries. I don't generally buy non-grocery items from here as they really do rack up the cost on them. The pharmacy staff though is fast, friendly and helpful. I don't use it often but I know if I didn't stay with my current favorite pharmacy I'd be coming to Hy-Vee. If you need a quick bite to eat the Deli area has a wide selection for reasonable prices. Hy-Vee Chinese is a staple at my house as it is as good a quality as most of the Chinese restaurants in the area. I'm not as fond of the pizza or Italian but everything else is worthwhile. They are currently expanding and it looks like it is going to be a major improvement on an already great store. read more

My HyVee of choice since there is a little less of the annoying college kid crowd than the IC HyVee. Everyone I've ever asked for help is super nice, and there is a very good selection of anything I've looked for. I really appreciate the fact that they carry many of the items I can't find at my small, local grocery store - especially in the produce and bakery areas. Their liquor department is also pretty impressive; I enjoy the "make your own 6-pack" option with diverse, local beers in the mix. Though it is nice to have so much selection, the place feels like it is crammed with too many narrow aisles to support the heavy customer traffic it receives. Shopping here certainly tests my patience. I have been to other Hy-Vees that are far more spacious, leading to a better overall experience. read more

Hy-Vee - a parking lot full of cars - Grocery Near Me - Coralville, Iowa

Since this pandemic has started this Hy-Vee has done an excellent job restocking, ensuring safety, and remaining helpful. When I was there on April 18th around 10:30 AM the two Starbucks workers were slammed with customers. Customers were being so incredibly rude to them and both of them remained positive and treated everyone kindly and on an individual basis. We also had people from the pharmacy, deli, meat counter, customer service, health market and liquor departments be so extremely helpful in finding things. Not to say other areas aren't helpful, but we don't visit all departments! No matter how busy the store was or how frustrating this all is, this Hy-Vee has always had some of the most friendly and accommodating staff. Times are tough and even though people get out only once a day they still find a way to be rude to those who are there to support the community. Thank you Hy-Vee for putting up with all of this and continuing to provide for our community. read more

I always hate to leave negative reviews; even more so one star reviews. I mean, if you can't say anything nice why say anything at all, right? However, my meal was so spectacularly bad that I just had to say something. Service was non-existent, but to be honest, it's a cafe in a grocery store. I expected that. This didn't bother me. And I didn't expect my food to be particularly outstanding, because again; it's hot food in a grocery store. But yet, somehow with the lowest of expectations, I was still let down. I ordered the sirloin because honestly, how can you mess up steak, right? Apparently they found a way. I was served a lump of untenderized, unseasoned and overcooked steak that tasted far more like a badly executed beef roast than anything else. It came with a side of wild rice, which was undercooked and tasted like bird seed, as well as a baked potato...which was actually okay, so kudos for that. Meanwhile my girlfriend had ordered the mac-and-cheese burger, which was also horribly overcooked and spent far too long under a heat lamp, and a side of fries which were oversalted to the point of being inedible. Definitely don't see myself going back to this one any time soon. read more
