What better way to celebrate my 100th review written in 2024 than with ice cream?! The previous owners sold the business, but it has reopened under the same name which I'm super happy about! If I recall correctly, they served thrifty ice cream years ago, but I was delighted to see Blue Bell ice cream served today. With lots of flavors to choose from! The location is a little quaint inside, but has some great seating outside with great views of the Superstition Mountains. My cousin and I enjoyed the beautiful 72 degree day with our delicious ice cream. We both did my trick that I've been doing since I was a kid, since I'm a clumsy one and don't like wearing my dessert. Order a scoop to be put in a cup, but topped with a sugar cone. Helps avoid the mess, but still get the delicious flavor of a cone. The salted caramel ice cream was my favorite, and shocked at the low price of $2.99 for a scoop of ice cream! We both said we will be back as it is an affordable treat close to home. Check out this place if you are in the area as it would be rude not to treat yourself! read more

So happy we found this place! Great pricing, friendly service and good ice cream. We will be making this our new regular spot.

So happy this ice cream parlor reopened and super awesome they kept the name. This parlor brings back all the nostalgia vibes. The staff member assisting us was so friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. There is seating inside as well as outside. They offer Blue Bell brand ice cream and scanning all the options, they all appeared fresh and did not have ice crystals forming which often happens when ice cream sits. I went with the salted caramel brownie ice cream with a sugar cone. Pro tip from my cousin: have the ice cream placed in a bowl with a cone on top to avoid making a mess of yourself! Lol. They have offerings other than just ice cream including now take and bake pizzas. At the time of this review, she said the pepperoni is about $7 after tax and for the other options which are more specialty they start at about $12.25. She mentioned if we wanted to order a custom topped pizza, we can call ahead and ask the owner which is a nice option! There were bottled drinks and packaged snacks for purchase as well. Such a fun place to stop for a delicious treat - especially with the summer heat creeping up on us! read more

While my woman friend and myself went there an hour before closing time, the place was empty... to be expected as it was during dinner time and whatnot. We were greeted by a wonderful young woman behind the freezer full of wonderful tasting ice-cream. My friend and I both got hot fudge sundays. It was great ! The place was nice and clean, and it's a place that I would go back to again.... read more

My coworkers & I were craving shakes and decided to give this place a shot. Sadly all the shakes were extremely runny and like an ice cream flavored water. Gave a couple stars for them having the flavor of ice cream and toppings that we had selected. Just wish they were much thicker! read more

We have been there several times. Always great service and generous portions! Top quality Blue Bell ice cream. I can't wait to be again soon! read more

I just went there today. Got an awesome hotdog, got a delicious banana split, and I even bought a pizza, two guys were working, they were awesome. I would go there again in a freaking minute, and I don't know who's telling you this place is closed but it's not closed and it's March 27, 2024. read more

Great spot for a quick ice cream cone. The mint chocolate chip is great! The service is quick and very nice. Clean place!

This is such a cute place, I love how it looks. It is the perfect place to grab a sweet treat or a bite to eat if you are hungry! I personally have had their ice cream and cookies which are delicious! They also sell hot dogs and you can purchase ready to cook pizzas at great price! I have been multiple times and the service is always great! They are very kind, patient, and friendly. read more

After our sandwich at the Meat Slicer we went to have an ice cream. Usual we can share and should've but we didn't want the same flavor. So we each had a single scoop in a cup and what a scoop they were! The black cherry and coffee ice creams are chock full of flavor and so much ice cream! We ended our trip to AJ with a nice finish! read more

My daughter wanted to try Hwy 88 Ice cream and it was really good! My daughter got the cotton candy ice cream and I got the rainbow sherbet. It's the best sherbet I've ever had, will definitely be back read more

Great little Ice Cream parlor! Vast selection of Ice Cream, along with canned sodas ranging from common to obscure (can you say RC cola products AND Diet 7Up!). Friendly staff, and a comfortable "old timey" vibe! Recommended! read more

A small business so I like to give them the traffic. The ice cream was good and the scoop generous. The inside was clean but a bit cluttered, with product boxes sitting about. The person serving the ice cream, obviously the owner, was pleasant. I took away one star for the lack of a bathroom. The owner said I could use the bar next door but they had a sign "customer use only." I ended up driving to a gas station. A bit of a hassle, hence the star deduction. I would go back. read more

Cute ice cream shop. Super friendly server-didn't catch his name. Ice cream is yummy and a great value for the amount given. I'd recommend.

Bluebell Ice Cream with fantastic service. Every time I go in everyone is nice, the portions are huge, and the price is exceptionally reasonable. This is well worth the stop. My favorite is the black cherry Ice cream, but haven't had anything bad yet. read more

We love coming here. Classic ice cream with great prices and huge portions. It's a family favorite and the people are always friendly.

Amazing place! Lots of flavors and chili dogs, too! I love their chocolate malts! Tell him that Kath from Spokane sent you!

Ice cream is ice cream- what sets Hwy 88 apart from the rest is the customer service, variety and portion sizes. The customer service is unique and catered to the individuals who are being served. If you are a "regular" they will ask questions about conversations previously had. (How is your dad, how is the new job). Variety- more flavor options than you could imagine as well as cones, sundaes, malts, shakes, floats. Now portion sizes if you ask for one scoop at other places you get one scoop- however Hwy 88 you get double. Not only will you get your moneys worth, you will also be treated as if you are the only person in the parlor. When I went on 3/17 it was after 7:00PM line was out the door they close at 6:30PM they continued to serve, engage and laugh. Highly recommend! read more

Awesome Ice Cream at a very reasonable price. Also has really good hot dogs! The owner is super nice too!

Amazing ice cream and hot dogs will be found here if you stop by. John the owner is an absolute awesome guy. I recommend this place to anyone who wants ice cream. read more

If you like ice cream and great service, this is the place to go. John the owner will treat you like family. He has 24 flavors of ice cream and also has 1/4 lb hot dogs that come with chips and toppings and are only $4.50. They give you big scoops of ice cream for a decent price and also have sundaes, shakes, and malts. In my opinion this place is the best around. Give it a try for a special treat! read more

Found out about this place while searching Yelp for a new ice cream place for us to try. Read the reviews on multiple platforms and decided to drive 17 minutes with my family to give it a try for ourselves. Hours said the closed at 7:30pm on Saturdays, so we headed out at 6:55pm. When we arrived at 7:13pm, the place looked open because all the lights were still on and the outer metal door was not closed. But when we approached the door, the handle turned but the deadbolt was secured. There was no one working inside either, at least not visible from the front. I understand closing early if business is slow, or even a change in hours sometimes. But some updated information goes a long way for those of us who don't live down the street or around the corner. Maybe we will make the trip that direction again one day and be able to give an accurate rating of the ice cream. But tonight we went and tried the place down the street instead of the drive being wasted, so it's 1 star for now. read more

Hwy 88 Ice Cream Parlor - Looks open, but it was actually closed before the listed 7:30pm closing time. Not a good first impression for us. - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Apache Junction, Arizona
