I had gotten Mike's name from a friend who had used him in the past. A Word of mouth referrals always means a lot! Michael was familiar with and willing to install several brands as opposed to a few other companies that only seem to sell one brand. He also didn't make me sit through an hour long presentation about why his company and products were the best (my time is valuable and I had sat through one too many gimmicky presentations from other HVAC companies in town already so I was really grateful to skip that). His price was THE best out of all the companies I got estimates from. We had two HVAC brands in mind and also wanted a Nano filter (UV light that kills mold/bacteria inside the blower unit). We weighed the benefits of both brands with Michael and proceeded with what he suggested (we had also had an upstate HVAC friend independently confirm it was a good choice). We got the quotes in July 2020 and Michael told us that prices would go down in winter if we could hold off for a few months. He was right- we got a better price in early December. They also put in the Nano bulb which will get replaced every two years. I think this is a nice feature for Charleston area homes where mold can be a real fear. Installation day came and everything went smoothly! Three guys came and it took about 5 hours from start to finish. They worked clean, were thoughtful, and took their time. Michael and Phillip answered a few questions I had along the day. Bonus points for all of them acknowledging my dog throughout the day who is always both totally exhilarated and completely stressed when workman are here

Shaun and his team will keep your home cool in the summertime and warm in the winter. My air went out one very scorching, July day. Shaun came out the next day to check my system and had me up and running shortly after. I was only low on freon. I contacted him a couple of summers later. He asked me to look at my unit to see if it was frosted. It indeed was. He told me to completely turn the unit off so it would defrost overnight. His quick thinking saves us from having two nights of misery. When he arrived the next day the unit was defrosted and he was able to look at it and get it back up and running. Had the unit not been defrosted he would have to either wait until the next day, or turn on the heat to defrost the unit quicker. That little gesture to call and ask me to check my unit saved us so much time and effort. I trust Air Handlers for my HVAC service needs and you should, too. They are extremely affordable and one of the most professional team around. They have a yearly maintenance plan that I purchased where they come out to look over your unit for issues before they get serious. This too has been very beneficial. They are quick and they get the job done! #ThankYouThursday

My system is less than 10 years old and is still under warranty. Something smelled fishy. Called in a 2nd opinion and got the repair done for $600. In this case, it appears that Acute tried to take advantage and tried to sell us something that we didn't need. If we hadn't gotten a 2nd opinion, we would have spent $16,000 on something that could be fixed for $600. My trust in Acute is gone.

The AC at my residence was blowing warm air and was not cooling. When it did cool, the house could not maintain a constant temperature. The AC ended up running non-stop, 24 hours daily. I'm not looking forward to seeing what my electric bill is for this month. Josh arrived on Monday afternoon and was kind enough to wait for me until I got home. He called and asked me if my AC was on. I told him that the compressor or outside fan was running when I left the house that morning. When I checked my phone, I saw that the AC was running. During the course of the day, the temperature in my home had risen from 76 degrees to 80 degrees. Josh told me the fan outside was not turning, indicating that the outside unit was not operating. When I got home, the thermostat was reading 81 degrees. I left the door open to try and let the house air out. Reluctantly, there was no breeze on Monday. After thirty minutes with the door open, the temperature on my home thermostat had risen to 86 degrees. On Sunday, I applied a wet-vac to the two drain lines outside. Despite no water coming out of either line, the bottom line did start to drip again and the outside fan turned itself on. The air inside the house was still not blowing very cold. I tried turning off the unit and running just the fan, in case the coils had become frozen. After several hours, I turned the AC back on and put the fan in "auto" mode. Again, all I got was slightly cooled air. Luckily, despite the AC running constantly, the house cooled a slight bit after the sun went down or usually between 9:00 and 10:00 PM. Josh checked my refrigerant level, found it to be borderline low, and worked on my unit in the attic. To my delight, the compressor was still fine, as was the capacitor and coils. I bought the Lennox Signature Series AC new in 2021. Three years later, it needed a new compressor and 11 pounds of refrigerant. All the refrigerant that the AC had in it prior to the compressor crashing in 2024 had leaked out. Lennox provides a 10-year warranty on parts. Labor is additional. The cost of labor to replace the compressor and Freon amounted to an extra mortgage payment for me in 2024. I was just informed that parts for Lennox and Carrier are manufactured overseas and are often difficult to find replacement parts for. I was also told that it's not uncommon for a Lennox to have problems with the compressor or coil after just a few short years. In hindsight, I wish now that I had not let my brother talk me into buying a Lennox. I told Josh that I almost went to the hardware store on Sunday to buy some spray-on coil cleaner. He advised me to not spray anything on those coils or fins. Thank you for your professionalism and your prompt service PROS. I look forward to a long relationship with you.
