It was very distressing for me to have my appearance altered without my consent and to see that my teeth had been made much larger and more square than what I was comfortable with. At my request, they were fixed to have a more natural look that I could live with; however, I was still forced to pay about 7x more than what I would have had only the procedure I had agreed to been done. I attempted to work with them to remedy the situation, but they were unwilling to remove even a small amount of the extra charges that I would personally have to pay, despite already having received hundreds more than they should have been paid from both myself and my insurance. My experience with Veritas Dental has greatly injured my trust in dentists, and you should go elsewhere if you want to avoid being used for money.

The replacement implant was way better than the original that I had done at another dentist. I can't even tell it's there anymore. There has been no sensitivity with any of my fillings. The procedures are a breeze. The hygienist is actually great with administering anesthetics. And the cleanings are performed in a relaxed manner. The front desk staff knows how to take care of business and is happy to do so. This group is better at every phase of the game. By comparison, I would give previous dentists that I've had a two- or three-star rating. I feel great when I leave this office.

However, I needed some simple x-rays of my teeth and either the x-ray holder was TOO BIG for my mouth or the "hygenist?" was placing them incorrectly and they wouldn't go in. I said, OW. YOU'RE HURTING ME. So she shoved harder and started fussing like a 2 year old. I said, STOP. THEY DON'T FIT. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. She stamped her feet, fussed like a baby and said, so you are refusing the procedure? NO, i said. IT DOESN'T FIT. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. She called in another staff member to complain that i was Un-Cooperative or something. This staff member did NOTHING USEFUL. Didn't even speak to me at all. 1st woman- then braced herself like she was pushing a bolder up a mountain and began SHOVING the appliance back into my mouth. It still didn't fit. I was in so much PAIN that i nearly jumped out of the chair. Almost to tears, the 1st highly trained and skilled "hygenist" finally brought in Dr. Cheung. I told him the appliance didn't fit in my mouth. Please do something different. He immediately told them to do the xray a different way. No problems. It was done in a moment. Professional. I DON'T BELIEVE that the xray film would not fit in my mouth with the application of even the slightest professionalism or patience or that ANY of the fussing and violence to my mouth associated with getting the x-ray was even necessary. Any person even remotely interested in actually getting the job done- would have accomplished this simple task with almost no trouble at all. This female hygenist and the staff in general are Stunningly Brave, absolutely Beautiful, perfect in Every Way and are obviously being oppressed. Please don't change a thing. I've been seeing Dr. Gum and her staff for over 6 years. I visit her twice every year for normal…read morecheckups, and I end up with about 2 minor procedures each year, usually a filling. Know that I have bad genes and have always needed fillings and maintenance on them. Dr. Gum, Toni up front, and the rest of her staff are always helpful and professional. I've never had to wait for more than 5 minutes past my appointment, and they're often ready when I get there a few minutes early. I've had a few hygienists, and I like them all. The office is modern and seems like they have up-to-date equipment. The rooms are equipped with TVs for distraction, but I always request them off. They're good at keeping me informed, telling me how long the procedure will take. They'll tell me what they're doing each step of the way if I ask. They're good at the numbing as well. I don't numb easily, and they always keep the procedure painless. I can tell Dr. Gum cares about her patients and her team. I'll keep her as my dentist for as long as I'm in the area.

And for what it's worth, I've never left a scathing review for any business in my life...but I believe most folks inherently trust their doctors and are at risk of being taken advantage of by Dr Gum with recommended fillings and surgical procedures that are entirely unnecessary and perhaps poorly performed. Context: For nine years before Angela Gum, I had one filling at my dentist. I brush, floss, and use antiseptic mouth wash 2x daily, and I drink more than a gallon of water per day. In three years with Angela Gum, I had six fillings, a crown, and was told that I "grinded my teeth (not true) and had me fitted for a sleep guard. (read: she charged me all sorts of money for things I didn't actually need) Finally, at this year's appointment, when I was nearly certain I had no cavities, I was told that I needed to come back in for three fillings, and that she wanted to see me 3x per year rather than the standard 2. This just didn't sit right with me, so I went and got a second opinion. This new dentist did a thorough review and assured me that I needed "no active procedures" and had no cavities. To be judicious, I asked her to take the most aggressive preventive care posture possible, and asked if she'd recommend any fillings, and I was told "absolutely not." Not only that, but this second opinion dentist asked me "how long I'd had the crown" and I told her two years, as Dr. Gum put it in two years ago. TL;DR on this...she told me that the crown wasn't placed correctly, she'd have guessed it was years older, and that we'd need to keep an eye on it. Given my own personal experience combined with other reviews I see here on Yelp, I'm confident when I am concerned for every patient of any doctor who exploits trust for profits. If you're a patient of Dr Gum and she's recommending any fillings, procedures, or other solutions, I'd strongly recommend you get a second opinion!

We asked the Office Secretory to check with insurance company and get exact what would be covered and how much would be out-of-packet expense, and agreed the out-of-pocket amount would the only (final) amount we pay before we come in for the service, but after everything done and full amount paid, and when insurance decline some of their claims, they kept coming to us to ask for more money, regardless the previous agreement. As a matter of fact, when we asked insurance company, the insurance company keep saying they use the wrong code, I wonder if they were overcharged us or over-claimed, even though we had an oral agreement only responsible for a fixed full amount before start the work. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend, I would actually advise never go to the Halliard Advanced Dentistry for any of your dental treatment, this dental office is the worst experience I ever have! very disappointed!

The office is absolutely gorgeous. They really take the time and effort to make the experience as pleasant as possible. My first visit was because I needed a crown replacement, so just jumped right in to the full dental experience on this one! The patient beds/chairs are comfortable and I was given some headphones with relaxing music while they worked. The whole process didn't take too long and it was as painless as it could be! I've been back several times, both for cleanings and additional work. They got me in quickly for an urgent pain situation a while back and remedied the situation right then and there, thanks GOSH*! All the staff and docs are very friendly, professional and welcoming. Mike is awesome and quick with the cleanings! Dr Simon is a great addition and very good with checking in during work to make sure the patient is comfortable and doing ok. Will be going strictly to this dentist from now on!!!
