Also, I have a broken upper back molar (which has stabilized and gives me zero problems whatsoever). The doctor wants to put a crown or a cap on it. My previous dentist (not in this city unfortunately) told me as long as the tooth was stable he could see no reason to mess with it. I have a lot of fear about going to the dentist and honestly the thing that makes me the most afraid is the cleaning. The idea of scraping and vibrating on my teeth just makes my entire body cringe, and I also have lots of memories of dental hygienists being borderline sadistic when I visited the dentist as a child and teenager. I told the woman who did my cleaning (I'm sorry, I don't remember her name) that I was very afraid and was likely to cry and she was so kind to me the entire time. I did cry, basically nonstop throughout, but she didn't seem phased at all and it didn't seem to make her uncomfortable (or she was really good at faking it). She also didn't give me a bunch of lectures except to say that the cleaning won't be so bad once I start coming in every 6 months. Whenever she did something that caused me to wince in pain she would apologize and explain why it hurt or why she had to keep digging around and I never felt blamed or shamed. So yeah, I mean, a dental cleaning is what it is and I had 20 years of no professional cleanings so I'm not going to say I had a good time. But I was really happy that the woman was so kind to me. The dentist spent very little time with me, just looked in and said I probably needed a root canal for the chipped molar and he gave me a referral. He said some other things but he is really soft-spoken and was wearing a mask so I'm not sure exactly what he said all the time. I was also not in a very good headspace for understanding or asking questions, so it's probably just as well that he didn't tell me much, but it would have been nice if he slowed down a second and told me more about what I needed and why. I've never had a root canal and after consulting with Dr. Google I understand a little more about what will happen.

Have not had good experience. I was not told when they decided to drop my dental insurance as "in…read morenetwork" and as a result my bill was over $350 for a cleaning. I did not have any cavities and I did not have any fluoride or additional treatment. Next, I use dip so I get worried about mouth cancer. In the past, the dentist has said," just pop on in and get a quick screening". It takes about 10minutes, they shine a light in your mouth and check for abnormalities. I know how much this costs because I get it every time ($25), so I had it done while waiting to get in at a new dentist. I get the bill and I'm charged $120. They had charged me for a limited evaluation as well as the cancer screening. I had not had ANYTHING additional done and when I called about it they said that's a charge for the dentist stepping into the room to see me. When I called to ask about it, they said they'd call me back. After 5 days of no response, I called again and they pretty much told me to go F myself. I feel deceived and taken advantage of. I would not recommend Hilliard Modern Dental. Please don't go here.
