We hired HC for our wedding to handle our dinner service, bartending and appetizers during cocktail hour. Our initial tasting with them was actually one of our most treasured memories from the wedding process, they treated us so nicely and served us so many options for drinks and dinner that we could choose from. By the end of the tasting, we felt like we had a dream menu for our wedding - and we really did! Plus, they were QUITE generous with the portions they gave us during the tastings ... of both the food AND cocktail options lol. Made for a fun, relaxed and delicious experience. We had a pasta-based menu for the wedding day and it was insanely good. We kept getting raving reviews from our guests about the short rib bolognese, and the service was amazing. HC went out of their way to check on us multiple times throughout dinner and ask if we wanted more of anything, which is made us feel so special and cared for as bride and groom. The chocolate espresso dessert was also a HUGE hit with everyone. The cocktails were also top-notch, I still can't believe how well they pulled off a pisco sour! Communication during the wedding process was also great, sometimes they were busy but they always made up for any tiny amount of time I had to wait with their kindness and service. We hired Huntington Catering for our plated-dinner wedding reception in Pasadena this past June and had the greatest experience with them! They were our top choice because they were able to address all the questions and concerns I had with ease during our consultation call, did their best to accommodate our budget, and handled every part of the process with attention and professionalism. We want to give a huge shout-out to Megan who was our amazing point person who worked out all the details with us leading up to the reception (and helped serve food, too!) as well as Justin for helping us coordinate all the moving pieces with our reception venue. The whole team was really on top of everything on the day, smoothly working through any hiccups that popped up with both care and efficiency. There were many times throughout the night that several team members went out of their way to congratulate us and let us know that we were being taken care of, and that thoughtfulness meant a lot to us. We went with an Asian fusion menu, and they absolutely delivered with the tray passed appetizers, salad, and three entree choices. After hearing our feedback from our first tasting, the chef even created a unique beef dish for us, which was a huge hit with all our guests who chose it. Justin and his team are the MVPs of our wedding. We got married last summer (yes, late review :() and Justin and his team made everything go off without a hitch. We opted for more of a party than a traditional wedding and Justin showed up to all of our meetings with our venue and planner to ensure he and his team were aligned with all of our timelines and special requests. This company catered my brothers wedding, and I am so deeply disappointed and embarrased by pretty much everything about it. -Drink service was horrendous ! Water was not replenished in a timely manner, if at all. I had to interrupt the talking group of 3 servers (for a party of 120) to ask them to distribute water. Twice. It had been over 100 degrees that day and folks were left sitting with empty water glasses for over 30 minutes. -Wine service was irregular and spotty. -Portions were small ! My partner literally recieved 3 fingerling potatoes with his (vegetarian) meal. -Bartender was visibly on his phone a number of times. And to top it all off----- The menu was incorrect ! Stuffed chicken breast was to be served.... but people recieved just plain, DRY, chicken breast. Ugh! I work in catering, and know how high the bar can be. HC catered my March 2015 wedding at the LA River Center and Gardens. They are a preferred vendor for that site, with plenty of previous experience serving there. I trusted things would run smoothly and they certainly did! It was SO wonderful working with HC over the months of planning -- Shannon and Justin were helpful at every step of the way, easy to reach by phone and by email, and really delivered the day of. They were super flexible with our tastes and food preferences (hello churros!) and were able to adapt the reception menu to our budget. Waitstaff were professional and EVERYWHERE so that nobody went hungry or thirsty. The food was delicious.. although truthfully I was too busy at the wedding to enjoy much of it. :/ All of our guests, however, raved about their chicken and waffle appetizers and their mushroom ravioli. From our first meeting at their restaurant, we felt in such good hands talking to their team about the specifics of what we wanted the general vibe to be for the food and bar service. The menu was inventive and the bites were super flavorful and a giant crowd pleaser. For the bar service, they went above and beyond in creating two signature cocktails for us, both of which were absolute highlights amongst guests at the reception. Thank you for the incredible work and delicious food you provided for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner on August 13, 2021. Not only was the food superb, but your staff was amazing! They very graciously adapted to the last minute change of having nearly two-thirds of our guests arrive an hour early due to my son and daughter-in-law's decision to hold an actual wedding rehearsal prior to the dinner. Although the rehearsal never actually materialized, your crew made it seem like this was all part of the plan from the beginning. The guests were none-the-wiser, despite my internal panic attacks. The chefs were so sweet in side-stepping guests entering the kitchen during their prep time and the wait-staff expertly slid into party mode far earlier than they should have needed to. You have a remarkable team working for you! I cannot thank you enough for your beautiful and professional catering which contributed to a wildly successful evening, and one in which both sides of the new family felt incredibly welcomed and comfortable. Our guests raved about the cilantro lime arancini and elote avocado toast, which were served as passed appetizers. The grilled achiote chicken and fajita vegetable and cheese enchiladas were exceptional; the Huntington salad was superbly refreshing and the cilantro lime rice and charred grilled vegetables were the perfect accompaniments. Everyone complimented the churros for dessert. I will be recommending Huntington Catering to all of my friends and will be calling you for my next event. What can I sayyyyyy. They're great!! Huntington Catering Company was a preferred vendor for my venue, Millwick. I CAN SEE WHY. Hiring them was a packaged deal! Our venue raved about their service staff, and the fact that they provide rentals and bar staff, it was a no brainer for us. Plus, duh the food was great as well! We got to have two tastings, which I thought was great. And just rentals again! I just thought that was awesome. I didn't have to search for other rental places, which saved me so much emailing and researching and signing of more contracts. We rented everything from extra tables, chairs, bar tables, linens, dinner ware, serving dishes, barware, heat lamps, just everything. They even can provide a rain tent just in case it starts to rain on your big day. Justin and Vanessa were great to work with! I had SO MANY EMAILS! But they handled them all! Communication with them was awesome. We even requested late night snacks and wanted dirty dogs. They came thru with that! Then the big day. The wedding. They were so awesome. I didn't give much direction on how we wanted place settings and napkins to go, but they made it look great. Everything looked so great. Service staff at dinner was awesome. I only had a few tray passed apps since I couldn't be there much for cocktail hour due to picture taking, but those tasted so good as well. And the bar staff. YES. THEY WERE SO AWESOME. Our guests loved them. Whoever the french-candian dude was, my friends and family couldn't stop raving about you. And the guy at the inside bar, whoever you were, THANK YOU for putting up with my friends inside. My friends and family are pretty crazy. I only spoke to him for a bit, but he was real nice. Everyone was! Hope he enjoyed the strip show that happened. Everyone loved the food as well! We had family style dinner, and everyone said it was more than enough. We also provided our own alcohol. I get real serious about buying my alcohol and waiting for deals, so I studied liquor store and grocery store ads religiously for a whole year. I like my deals. The week of the wedding, they allowed us to drop off all our alcohol at their offices. YAS. Cause we didn't know how else we were going to transport it the day of the wedding, it was a lot. And surprisingly we bought too much goose and beer (and not enough henny, didn't know our guests would drink that much henny). We were able to pick up the leftover alky the next day with no problem. I can sum up my experience with Huntington Catering in one word, "disappointed." To be fair, the food was decent quality, and the barista and bar service we're both stellar. But, getting to the event day - which was my only daughter's wedding day, was very difficult with this caterer. Part of the issue was the incompetentence of our wedding planner (month of). But the staff at Huntington was unresponsive, rude, and in the end, completely unable to complete our catering successfully. We live in California, and have many friends who are vegetarian or vegan. We ordered a third entree option which was vegan. The estimate was continuously missing this item. We finally had this item added to the contract one week before the wedding, which was a very busy time for us. We we're initially told the cost was $3.00 extra pp, then was changed to $4.00 pp for this vegetable dish, and when we questioned this, we were told that there was no charge for this option. We emailed the rep and insisted on paying for this option. The owner of the company insisted there was no cost. And, since you get what you pay for, on the day of the event, 6 of our vegan or vegetarian guests had no dinner. The contract had been changed the day before the wedding to reflect one (1) vegan entree to be provided, and they never even brought that meal. We also had a meal for a guest with an allergy, and this too was missed. My husband and I left our meals and guests to try to hunt down something for these guests to eat- some of who were in the wedding party. The service captain had no explanation or food to offer. We we're so embarrassed. Aside from this, we literally had six iterations of our contract, all with huge errors in food choices and costs. We we're jacked for more servers at the last minute, which cost more than we had budgeted ($7,500.00 for 50 people). We had chosen a very expensive venue, and the design of the wedding required multiple vendors, since the space was equipped with nothing but a kitchen and gorgeous grounds. We received no support from Huntington during the planning. Every step was more painful than the next. We would NEVER recommend this vendor to anyone we care about or to anyone looking for a good caterer for an important event. We are giving two stars because of the positives, which were good food quality and the bar and barista service, but the ownership customer service would receive a negative rating if that was possible. read more

I had a whopping 250+ guests and they handled everything from start to finish. First things first: the food at our wedding was spectacular and we have not stopped receiving compliments about the dinner, drinks and service from Huntington Catering Company. They even knocked it out of the park with our dessert, as we decided to have wedding pie instead of cake and they gladly stepped in to provide not one but three kinds of pie to please our party. We worked with several different people over more than a year, including Justin, Barbara, Warring, and some others, and they were all as sweet as can be and very professional. Though based on the above I really would love to give a full five stars, there were just a few things that happened here and there that I do think I need to address to those who are planning a wedding with Huntington. Keep in mind none of these things ruined the wedding or were deal breakers in any way, but if I were to do it again I would want to be warned about this stuff so I figure it's only fair that I warn anyone else. For one, it was a bit confusing dealing with so many different people within the company throughout our time working with them. There's one person who emails you about payment, one person about food choices, one person about logistics... and I never completely understood who I was supposed to contact for which issue. When I mentioned this to them over email they were understanding and I think they tried their best to simplify things, but I do think it would make more sense to assign one account manager to be the liason between so many people who do so many different things. This actually seems to be an issue with a lot of wedding-related services (I had the same experience with our venue), so maybe it's an industry standard that needs to be improved a little. They also forgot a few small things here and there along the way. We had a long engagement and booked them very early on, so I can understand that some things would fall through the cracks, but with a million other things to keep straight without a full-on wedding planner at our disposal, it would have been nice if they were a little more on top of these things. For example, we decided to pay a little extra to have a cool bar made from a repurposed door, and it never appeared on the day of. We weren't charged for it and the regular bar was just fine so I never complained, but it definitely was something we had talked about an agreed to. We also were supposed to receive samplings of the pie we were ordering from them, as this was a decision that was made after our initial tasting. They said they would drop it off to us on the way to one of their other events sometime before the wedding, but that never happened. Finally, I found out later that the caterers arrived with no beer, only the wine and liquor we had ordered from them. Somehow it got left out of the final invoice and so my day-of coordinator had to scramble to make sure there was beer available before the guests arrived. A small inconvenience that I'm sure she would have liked to avoid! I hate to sound nitpicky because overall they really are very nice people who cook amazing food (I may be biased but I think it may be some of the best wedding/catering food I've ever had!), but I do think the small things make a difference when you're planning such a large event and relying on others to help it run smoothly. I do highly recommend Huntington but I'd suggest that you just keep an eye on the details or remind them to - I'm sure you'll be happy with the tasty result if you do! read more

I used Huntington Catering for my July 2012 wedding. The food was GREAT and their staff is generally very friendly and responsive. Their prices are more than fair and they work with you to create your menu and event. However, they have some SERIOUS organization and communication issues that led to some large mistakes being made at our wedding. -The most large and amazing mistake was that we had an outdoor cocktail hour, paid for an outdoor bar and drape to be set up, and yet.... there was NO BAR AT OUR COCKTAIL HOUR. We had tray passed champagne and a signature cocktail, which they did have, but there was no bar. This means that not only could people not get the kind of drinks they wanted, but people (including elderly people and pregnant women!) could not get non-alcoholic drinks if they wanted. The person who did our walk-through with us even stood and drew out exactly where this bar would be and told us what color the drape on the bar would be. Because there was no bar, people tried to go to the inside bar (where the reception was held), and were kicked out by servers and our coordinator because it wasn't done being set up. Not exactly a small mistake! -Secondly, they set up an extra table for our reception. The document with our rentals and details states that we were to have a certain number, but they set up an extra table! This was all partially my day-of-coordinator's fault, who was extremely incompetent, but our rentals were through HC, were correct on our file, and this was ultimately their responsibility. How awkward is it to appear that an entire table did not show up to our reception?! As I left the reception room to walk down the aisle, I was telling people to correct this and remove the table, instead of just concentrating on getting married. Disappointing. -Our vegetarian entree was NOT on the buffet even though we paid for it. The fact that we paid extra for this part of the buffet, and that our significant number of vegetarians did not have an entree is kind of amazing. -We ordered a barista station through Huntington in order to have loose leaf teas. Despite the fact that this, like everything else, was correct in our file about how everything was supposed to be, this too was missing at the reception. This was the main reason that we paid a significant amount for the barista station, and yet we did not even have it. -Ten minutes into the reception (before tables had even gotten up to have the buffet), an HC server approached my husband and said that they were low on vodka and gin, and asked if we wanted more. I appreciate that they promptly did get more liquor, but the fact that they were already low at 7:30 p.m. and approached us instead of just getting more, when the reception went until 11:30 and includes more than 40 people between the ages of 20 and 35, was a bit baffling. We did receive a significant refund and apologies about these mistakes from Huntington, which we appreciated. However, if I had to do it again, Huntington Catering is pretty much the only vendor I would NOT pick again. I would go with another caterer to avoid some of these significant mistakes and stress the day of. read more

I wanted to update this review to reflect the fact that in the weeks after I wrote the review, I was *was* contacted by Huntington and they did refund me for some of the food and drink items that had been missing at our wedding. So eventually, they did try and make things right. Looking back on it, I still have some lingering sadness that some of the things we were *really* looking forward to didn't come to fruition for our wedding. But hey, it was 2 years ago, our guests were happy, I don't dwell on it much. I recently heard from the owner and he said they've made a lot of improvements organizationally so that's good. I really always felt like the people at Huntington were really nice and cared about their clients, it's just that a lot of things fell through the cracks. My fiancé and I looked into three caterers for our wedding. One was too expensive and we ruled it out. The other two (Huntington and another) were reasonably priced and similar in cost. We did tastings at both and the food at Huntington really stood out. Of course, that´s food for two people ... you never know how it will be the day of. I could not speak higher of the food the day of! We gave Huntington the menu from our favorite restaurant in LA and they knocked it off perfectly. They even brought a pizza oven into the venue, which was a talking point in itself. And the staff was great. I also really appreciated the professionalism during the planning process. Shannon put up with my minor (annoying) changes, helped me select the perfect tableware rentals, etc, with lots of patience and kindness. And Justin put us at ease the whole way through. Their pricing was well within our budget, and so the only other determining factor was the food. We were sold on the first bite at our tasting! First, we should clarify, we didn't have your typical wedding food. Our dream wedding involved the In-N-Out truck, much to a typical caterers chagrin. But, the Huntington Catering Company really stepped it up here. They were flexible and accommodating to our goal of an In-N-Out wedding, even helping us coordinate the food based on the whole In N Out truck experience. For instance, the truck doesn't serve fries, so naturally they brought in a fryer to the site of our wedding! And, not only did they put out amazing regular fries but sweet potato fries, too! Burgers and fries-check! Now, how can we provide a more "sit down" dining experience? The Huntington Catering Company had the solution yet again with three different salads for our guests to choose from...their Herb Salad is a must have - unique and delicious (I wish I could get some more of that as I'm typing this)! Another thing the Huntington Catering Company rocked at -- the service, the rentals, the setup, the cleanup. They had all the right people helping us man the bar (we served beer on tap and wine which we provided on the day of the wedding), deliver In-N-Out burgers to the tables, get the tables in place, organize all the reception area...and the not-to-be-overlooked-because-its-the-last-thing-you-want-to-worry-about: cleanup. We got our full cleaning deposit back from our venue because they said that everything was spotless. Simply put--the Huntington Catering Company is the most amazing all-around catering company you can trust to make your event happen. And, they don't make "wedding food" (you know, the kind of food that you don't even remember eating the day after), they make delicious food. From our menu planning to all the details they were easy to work with, (especially Jessica) and made our planning so easy. Wow, I was totally blown away by the professionalism, service, and incredible food Huntington Catering Company provided at my event this past weekend. I called in February to inquire about catering a prom which I coordinate every year, and I received a call back the next day. Shannon was extremely friendly, easy to reach, and helpful in meeting my budget while still making the food special for the event. She offered a tasting and meeting, but I was strapped for time, so I showed up at the event not knowing what to expect exactly. It was incredible! They were fully prepared, rentals in place, and appetizers started the moment we had planned. My students arrived at the venue incredibly thirsty after a warm bus ride, and they went out of their way to get drinks to everyone quickly via the beverage bars. The meal itself was great, and the lead server was incredibly friendly and checked in with me often to keep me updated on timeline, service, etc. Once the kids started dancing, it got pretty warm in the ballroom and they were drinking up all of the water and ice we had on site! Huntington went out just to get more and made sure they had pitchers and cups all over the place. As far as the food goes, it was warm, well presented, and very tasty. The creme brule dessert was a big hit with students and chaperones, and I left knowing I'd be calling Huntington again very soon. I was at an amazing 200 person wedding in Malibu at the Historic Adamson House last weekend. The only thing better than the location was the awesome bartending and custom cocktails served by Marc Sosa! That brother was working so hard! While I make a point of noticing how hard people in service work, and tip them accordingly, I rarely write reviews (I think this may be my third one ever!). I asked him his name so that I could call his employer and tell them what an amazing job he did. If I understood the story correctly (I told you his cocktails are good so my memory may be a bit fuzzy), he owns his own Bartending business and they work thru Huntington Catering. Anyways, if you're looking for an amazing bartending crew, make sure you request Marc from Huntington Catering. You won't be disappointed. Those "Mesqueezy" Cocktails were the best!! read more

Huntington Catering is amazing. They did a fantastic job catering my wedding at the Castle Green in Pasadena a few weeks ago. Most importantly, I am a vegetarian and I have family members who are vegan and Justin and his team provided an actual meal for us instead of just a bunch of side dishes - which is what many of the other caterers offered (or they asked me to provide recipes which is kind of their job, right?). I would highly recommend Huntington Catering. They provided delicious and beautiful food, great service and were very professional. We has HCC cater our wedding and we couldn't have been happier. Justin, the owner, helped us along as we planned the event, showing us a bunch of different design options for the rentals (Yes, the offer their own rentals which will save you a bundle) and gave us a great tasting, well presented menu that everyone at the wedding absolutely flipped for. One thing to note- Nhgia Luu was the team leader for our event, and I have to say that he was awesome! There never appeared to be any hiccups in the operation and when my bride or I were ever without a drink, he was quick to act. The entire night was filled with little moments like that, holding back my bride's favorite beer just so she could have the last one, bringing us a special hours d'oeurve tray while we were taking pictures because they knew we'd never get a taste otherwise.
