Fortunately, the teller at DFCU had a clear head and asked him to call my husband and me to confirm the situation. Of course, it wasn't true and he didn't move forward with the withdrawal. My account was closed because I "didn't use it as often as they wanted" and my "daily balance was $20.00" per the fraud and recovery representative, Lydia Johnson. Johnson also disclosed that "there were multiple a names with different ss#'s attached to the notes in your account during that time period" which was one of the reasons we flagged your account, but would NOT provide further information on the denial. Ms Johnson asked "why do you want an DFCU account when there are so many other credit unions available? I was not sure how to answer her question, am I applying for a job? I recorded this for some odd reason, something led me to record this meeting to open an account. Ms. Johnson also discussed that this information was OLD, occurring back in 2009 but "it has been noted on the files we have on you." Ms Johnson demanded to know who I was currently banking with...is she gonna network with them to close that account too? They denied me an account and put me through an interrogation process. Ms Johnson also stated, IF you dispute and we open an account, we will just investigate it and close your account again based on Comerica Bank documentations. I feel a bit discriminated against.

I deposit all my checks through the app, transfer money through an app, pay my bills through an app. My mom, on the other hand? Not so much. She still likes to do everything the old school way. And that's fine! Until she broke her arm, couldn't drive, and needed my help with errands. "I need to go to the bank. I guess I could walk there...." "No, mom. I'll take you." So that's how we ended up at this Chase branch today, in the drive thru. Back in my teen years, I regularly hit the drive thru and stuck my Gap paychecks into the vacuum sealed tubes to make my meager deposits, but it has been a long time since those days and I was intimated. Yes, my mom had to talk me through the process. And WOAH! It was kind fun? (HEY! we're in a pandemic, I don't get out much anymore). They have video now so you can see your clerk in real time and say hello. Wild! It was a super smooth process and very efficient. Friendly clerks and easy access via the side road off Michigan Ave and Canton Center. Over the last several visits every transaction feels like you are inconveniencing them and takes 5 times as longer than in the past. Despite trying to communicate with the staff and three times with the new manager it is apparent they are incapable of listening to a customer, and only want to hear themselves talk about their new policies which are irrelevant to the conversation and transaction you are attempting to discuss. I miss the previous staff and manager Jill M Kwiecien, who were the reason this used to be such an excellent branch. I recommend changing branches or changing banks instead of dealing with the current toxic environment that is presently there!

I deposited 2 checks and then I tried to withdraw an amount larger than I deposited. The woman at the counter had my Drivers License. She asked about my business, took a very long time as if to be looking up my signature match. But then I had to input date of birth and phone number. Now I understand that banks take precautions, but I believe it was because I had on a pair of baggy pants and a hoody with no makeup.....I'm sure I was profiled. Never had this in the 15 years at my typical 5/3rd bank, even with the new tellers.... If you need to withdraw money at the Canton 5/3rd, make sure you dress up and put makeup on so they don't profile you!!
