***UPDATE***
I hate to sound ageist, but I think this doc needs to retire. And, I don't say that flippantly. He's clearly lost touch with best practices. After my husband expressed to me his concerns about how he felt Tashman was a bit too laid-back during my delivery 2yrs ago, I now see the light.
These are the reasons I've moved on to another doctor:
1) It took his office 1week to get back to me about whether my bloodwork (that he took in-office) was back. This was bloodwork I went to have to taken from him to verify if I was pregnant or not after I got a faint positive at home. I called his office more than a couple times over the course of 1week to ask why the results still weren't in; ultimately, he called me himself and said it was the lab's fault. When I logged into my lab's (LabCorp) online portal 2 days after having bloodwork in his office, it said date had not been written on the vials so they had to put the date it was received. That lack of attention to detail annoyed me but I let it go. He also overlooked & forgot that I have hypothyroid (which I've always been on medication for), & I had to call the office on my own the day after my appointment to remind them to check my thyroid level in the bloodwork (which his secretary, Danielle, who always sounds annoyed and short with me, begrudgingly did do).
2) During the same pregnancy confirmation appointment (when I was at 8 weeks), he took my blood but never asked me for urine or listened for heartbeat or asked if I had questions. The entire appointment, he yapped about his family. He never asked about my kid that he delivered -- come to think of it, he's never asked about her in a single appointment since I gave birth to her in 2015. Yet, he yaps about his daughter (who lives in Germany) & son & son's girlfriend for minutes on end. Before I knew it, the appointment was over and he was talking so much and rushed me to the point where I forgot to ask him about what I should do about getting a flu vaccine. I called back the day after this appointment not only to remind them about the hypothyroid as I mentioned above, but also to ask about the flu vaccine. Guess what ensued? 2 different calls from Danielle giving me the wrong answer first, and then a second call where she left a voicemail correcting info from Dr. Tashman himself regarding when it was safe for me to get it. Couldn't he have called me himself? Don't they hand out guidance/sheets to patients about this? Especially since it's flu season. I guess I was particularly annoyed about this because the one thing I did get to tell him during this appointment, after he took my blood, was that I had been feeling like absolute crud for a month and I think I got the flu from my daughter who had recently started daycare...he flippantly said, "We gotta work on why you're feeling so cruddy" and then went back to talking about other things...I thought he'd bring it up again or address this at the end of the appointment with tips or recommendations or perhaps even some sort of guidance on what to buy over-the-counter, but he didn't.
3) Getting medical records from his office to my new doc's office has been a nightmare. It's been 2 weeks exactly and my new doc doesn't have my records from him. When the new doc called Tashman, they got the answering service for him....the answering service said they received the records request but that office staff wouldn't fulfill it because he was out of town for the week (btw, I've noticed that he is in office only like 3 days/week & appt availability, while not hugely difficult, lately has been a pain because it seems he's not in office much).
4) Today, the straw that broke the camel's back was that the doc left me a voicemail saying he just got back to office today and saw a fax request for my records request and that, while that was all fine and all, he was concerned because he'd heard I'd had some spotting or bleeding, and he needed me to call him back. This is so weird because that is simply FALSE -- fortunately, I am not experiencing spotting or bleeding at this point in my pregnancy!!! Sounds like a ploy to get me to call the office back & keep me as a patient.
Ladies, do yourself a favor and find a doc who doesn't do the things I said above. Why? Because this silly stress is the last thing you need when you're pregnant or not well.

Simply put: He's old school and wonderful. If you're one of those new-age, hipster-types, he might not be for you. But, for me [I'm surrounded by physicians - dad, husband, brother, relatives, & friends] - he was just what I needed. He delivered my little one a few days after Thanksgiving, and I truly feel like the delivery wouldn't have been what it was were he not my physician. He's honest, real, straight business, and most importantly highly-knowledgeable AND experienced. He made me feel comfortable and always answered any questions I had - no matter how big or small. Trust me, he's worth it. read more
