Time for an update to link my pictures. Quality/Quantity - Clean, hands free faucets. In my youth, we would NEVER stop at these rest areas; it was always Starbucks or fast food. These rest areas are much easier to go in and out of! And I save $$$ and I don't end up over-caffeinating or eating excessive amounts of fast food. Atmosphere - Beautiful views. Easy in and out. Clean Restrooms. Drinking Water. Picnic Tables. Pet Area. Handicapped Access. Service - N/A; self service. Price - Free. Owner Suggestion - Our tax dollars at work, thank you. I can't believe this has been here since 1967. Remodeled in September of 2009 for $3.7M.

Since I was little this has been the place to stop to go to the bathroom. I even remember being on school field trips and stopping here. Still to this day - the bathrooms are ALWAYS clean! I always see staff cleaning. Even though lately there have been more "homeless" people camping out in their cars near the back of the parking lot - but they are not bothering anyone and you do NOT need to park near them. Stopping at the rest stop always makes me feel like we are officially in the Bay Area. This is a good safe place to go to the bathroom with your kids and if you have a dog - let your dog out.

I cannot believe I am posting a review for a highway rest area. But Hunter Hill has two things going for it. And Yelp is good for write ups about all sorts of venues. It is not just for restaurants. The first thing about Hunter Hill Rest Area is it is an example of Brutalist architecture that works. That is rare. Many Brutalist structures are about form, not function. They are windswept plazas people prefer to scurry across, not linger at. In San Francisco, for example, the Embarcadero development is like that. It is typical of the style, ugly and off putting. But if you know the Glen Park BART station, that looks like a cathedral. It is worth taking photos of. The same is true of Hunter Hill. The concrete massing works for this usage. The second is the vista. You can enjoy a lovely view as you head toward the Bay Area. That is just a bonus. People pause and look.

The views are grate but when we where there their was a lot of homeless people there. Of a night time it seems likes it's always full.

Hunter Hill is one of the cleanest local rest stops that I've ever frequented. When I'm driving down 80 and can't hold it any longer, this is one of my preferred stops. Hey, hey hey... I have a slightly weak bladder, so don't judge me! I can usually always find parking here and there's a large grassy field where I can stretch my legs out. They keep the restrooms immaculately clean here! They have actual restroom stalls, not porta-potties which is a plus. If you stop at enough rest stops, you know that this is a rare commodity. Not only are the restrooms sparkling clean, but the amenities are great! Yes, "amenities". They've got vending machines with snacks and juices, water fountains, and several picnic style tables. There's also a really nice view of Six Flags and the Vallejo Hillside. This seems to also be a popular stop for locals too as I've seen people coming here to walk their dogs and to have small picnics with their families. I mean... if there was a local rest stop that was this clean in my neighborhood, I'd probably stop by and hang out over there too sometimes. So grateful for this super clean and convenient rest stop.

Rest areas tend to creep me out......seriously!! It's like visiting a real life stopping grounds for a forum reading from Reddit. Not this Rest Area thankfully! They have very clean facilities Lighted very well Right off the fwy, you can't get lost Funny signage if you look at the picture I posted and this is usually our stop on the way to Six Flags in Vallejo! Very recommended for that extra smoke break, or "I gotta peeeeeee!"

Impressive. I stopped here to take a picture of the sunset over the city of Vallejo and was surprised at what a nice place this is. I've passed by this rest stop all my life and never knew. Haha! I didn't go inside the bathrooms but the outside grass area is nice. There are picnic tables too. And the sunsets are pretty!

My boyfriend and I always stop by this rest stop whenever we take a road trip to the Bay Area. They have plenty of bathroom stalls, a spectacular view, gorgeous flowers and this spot holds some history as well! I would definitely recommend this well known rest top and we'll continue to stop by!

A rest area right off interstate 80 west, a place with decent restrooms and also a vista point where you can relax for a bit before leaving again. Lots of places for the dogs to walk around to do their business as well as restrooms for us humans as well. A nice well kept rest area.

(over a year, actually) And the ADA Bathroom Stall is unusable to anyone who needs to use it because there is NO DOOR. It's gone missing. How does that happen? Anyhow, one would normally think that it is a violation to have no usable ADA accessible restroom stall ... however in today's time, 2025, is it possible that the Americans with Disabilities Act has been defenestrated? (They rarely open the women's restroom on the lift side; door is always closed/locked. This restroom has more functional toilets.... but it is rarely open for use. Like 99.9% of the time, the cleaner & more functional left side women's restroom is closed.) Problems in the right side women's restroom include : -- Only 1 fully working stall out of 5 stalls total. -- No usable ADA accessible restroom stall. -- 1st stall is unusable : closed "out of order" (closed for many months). -- 2nd stall is unusable : has missing toilet seat & the door does not lock. -- 3rd stall is unusable : closed "out of order" (closed for many months). -- 4th stall has working toilet & the door locks. -- 5th stall is unusable (large ADA stall) : has NO DOOR. In summary : Only 1 working toilet stall out of 5. Four out of five stalls are not fully functional (including the ADA stall). So the weird thing is that this rest area had been closed for a few weeks during the last month or two. After it reopened , NONE of the issues in the women's restroom were resolved. What did they do during all that time it was closed and blocked off to cars? .

One of the urinals now is out of order and has been for months. The hand dryers don't work and when they don't work, it will be a year or two. Maintenance is pretty bad.

The day we went wasn't a production day so we didn't get to see candy actually being made but it was fun nonetheless! We went on a Sunday midday and surprisingly it wasn't crowded! The price of admission for the tour is $8 for adults and $4 for children. It's a self-guided tour which takes you through the different rooms in the factory. There's monitors all around playing videos that explain the candy making process. There's also fun interactive activities along the way. Also included in the self-guided tour is entrance to the jelly belly museum and a ride on the train (wheelchair accessible as well). The museum is small and contains remnants of old machine parts and some photo ops. There's also a gift shop. If you choose not to take the tour and just want to look around, the main factory building also has a discounted candy shop and some memorabilia and pieces of art you can look at. We came home with way more Jelly Belly's than I'd like to admit. Great deals! There's also an ice cream shop and a restaurant. If anything, I'd stop here just to have lunch. Where else can you get a jelly bean shaped burger or pizza?? Overall we had so much fun and spend a good 3 hours here. Highly recommend!

While…read morethere's nothing particularly exciting about a rest area, this one is larger than most and does a good job accommodating travelers. There's plenty of parking, with separate areas designated for passenger vehicles and for trucks and RVs. The facility has two separate restroom buildings serving both men and women. The men's restroom includes two urinals and two stalls. Considering the age of the facility and the amount of traffic it sees, the restrooms are generally kept in decent condition. There are also a few water fountains located between the restroom buildings. One of the nicer features is the amount of open space available. There are several large grassy and dirt areas where you can stretch your legs, walk around, or give your pets a chance to get some exercise and take care of business. If you're looking for a clean, convenient place to use the restroom, take a break from driving, and recharge before getting back on the road, this rest stop gets the job done.

Since no one welcomed us, I took the initiative and said, "Hello." The same employee responded with a stoic expression and asked if I wanted a map. I declined, and that was the extent of the interaction. The atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming from that point forward. My friend and I then browsed the souvenir area. While my friend used the restroom, I waited nearby holding her belongings.
