A unique experience in a quaint little town on the Guadalupe River! Iconic 80 year old grocery store w/ fishing supplies, boutique items, beer, grab n go delights, & a KILLER cafe!! Locals are friendly, dogs are welcome ( on the patio) & there's a bathtub full of ice cold beer. Dude named Mike has been in his rocking chair by the fireplace every single time I've been! Live music has been known to happen. Wish it were more often. New owners are very friendly. Good vibes. read more

We happen to be in the area and wanted to support a local business! This is a fun place to be on a Saturday Night. The reef was playing and they just got a new fan! Loved their music and how fun they were to watch playing their hearts out! Out of all the food, the sliced brisket was the absolute best! They gave us so much fat from the brisket so it was full of flavor! My burger had a lot of pink in it, but was still good. These burgers are Texas Size! I could barley finish mine. I would totally recommend stopping by if your in the area. Customer service was great! Everyone was friendly! read more

Great little place to eat! The food was hot and tasty. Unusual hours. But, considering where they are located, it makes sense.

Hunt store used to be the place for burgers. Had a limited but ample menu. I used to bring guests from out of town, but no more. Pirces are too high, aren't they all, and burgers are not good. They grill the beef and you put fixings on it. Wrong type of lettus, unripe tomatoes etc. The store is now more of a trap than a destination. Avoid if possible, Ingram not that far away. read more

What a surprisingly awesome place!! This restaurant came as a recommendation from the owners of the Airbnb we stayed. It turns out to be a local hot spot. Do not be turned off by the outer appearance. It's more than a gas station, convenience store. This place is the most interesting little shop and restaurant inside and an inviting party patio out back. It's worth the experience. We were lucky enough to go on a Friday evening when they had a live band playing. The atmosphere and the people were so lively and fun. The employees were so friendly, the food was incredibly good, and the live music by Josh Grider, made for a perfect evening. My husband ordered the Triple Pig sandwich. The pork was to tender and delicious, this one stood out to be a favorite, it was that good. My chicken sandwich, The Yardbird, is incredibly flavorful and perfect for when you're wanting something a little lighter. This filling sandwich is only a "little lighter" lol. The beer was cold and the wine was delicious. We had such a great time, we woke up telling each other "how much fun we had and what a great evening". We look forward to our return visit to this gorgeous area of Texas and our return to this little gem of a restaurant. read more

Saw this place on The Texas Day Tripper show so had to check it out . It was disappointing. Our burgers were over cooked and homemade chips were not fresh. For the price I wish we had gone somewhere else in nearby Kerrville. It is also a store that had the usual convenience items. Also has a large outdoor patio. read more

I guess it's an honorary 5 star nod for the Hunt Store. This in fact was the first place I legally bought beer on my 21st birthday. Then girlfriend and I spent the weekend in the area staying just down the road at the Hunter House in Ingram. Think I visited a few times for cervezas that weekend. Established in it's current location in 1946, the space now houses a convenience store, restaurant, beer joint, and bank. Location is a picturesque stretch of road next to the Guadalupe; perhaps one of the most beautiful riverside drives in Texas. Also, if your family bought here ages ago property along said river has went up a billion percent over the years. As for the Hunt store, these days it's a near perfect stop after the Three Twisted Sisters car club and motorcycle run. Our club in fact stopped in Saturday for a beer! Top Twisted Sisters Tip: Start by going south to Medina on 16. Blast your way thru the sisters (335, 336, 337). Then turn right at the Vanderpool store onto 187. After about 20 miles, turn right at the "T" in the road. That's Texas 39 which in a few short miles meanders along the Guadalupe. Hunt Store as a pit stop FTW! read more

The food is incredible again! Every week there is a special item on the menu and to date has always been of the highest quality. The service is back again as well! The Store is under new ownership and they definitely know how and what it takes to bring back the wonderful experiences of the food, service and music! This should be a regular stop for everyone coming to the hillcountry on the south fork of the Guadalupe River! It welcomes all ages and will keep you smiling. They don't service dinner on Monday or Tuesday and only pizza on Wednesday. Stopped by on a Tuesday. Stote was open but no good service.

The food was great! But only burgers and the nightly special. We were looking forward to trying the chicken fried steak they showed on the Daytripper show but I guess they don't do them or carry full menu during the week. We just didn't don't know that. After seeing a story on "The Daytripper" about the Hunt Store restaurant, my husband and I were looking forward to a great meal after our two and a half hour drive from Austin. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We made sure to go on a Saturday and checked the hours on the website. We got there at 2:30 in the afternoon and found what was basically a fast food menu. Burgers, chicken tenders, fries, etc... No chicken Diablo, no chicken fried steak, no appetizers. Confused, I asked the counter person about other offerings and she said that on Friday and Saturday evenings there is a full menu. Disappointed, we ordered Bob's Burgers (burger with grilled onions, mushrooms, & Swiss cheese). It was good, but not what we drove 2+ hours for. I was very disappointed. I have lived in Hunt for 4 years now. I can call myself a local now I suppose. I have dropped in at the store to get gas, I grab gourmet coffee, grab a drink, and grab a bite to eat, and enjoyed the entertainment when it was offered many, many times over the past four years. When they had the meat market, we bought all our meat there. We have been pretty loyal customers... not tourists. We visit year round, not just during the summer months. They have a sign posted on the door AND I CAN READ. It says the restroom is for customers. I am coming in from town. I needed to fill up before heading up to my house. I chose not to fill up in town, but at the store. While filling up, I ran in the store to use the restroom. I had no idea when I ran in, I was being stalked. When I came out, I was immediately informed that the restroom was for customers. Ironically, I was a customer and, more ironically, I have been a customer for 4 years. This employee was too lazy to even peek outside and see if I might have been filling up with gas.... she instead just jumped my @ss. Guess what.... I will choose to do my business not at the store anymore. Yep, this one person and her family, which will not make a difference to you, will not buy her gourmet coffee there, not fill up with gas, will not eat, grab a drink heading back to her house from town, and will not bring or recommend any guests or family members to patronize your establishment anymore. The food is still great! But, over the four years that we have lived here, we have watched the store go downhill. This is a perfect example of it. They used to have great, fun, welcoming folks running it and it was such a great place to come to. Now, it has the POTTY POLICE waiting at the front door. read more

My first time to The Hunt store. What a gem hidden in the Hill Country. It's not just a general store. You can get quick service meals like burgers and pizza and there is also a wonderful full service restaurant with a menu that would challenge any big city restaurants. Chef Blas is an amazing chef. He creates some interesting dishes with a flair from his home country of Mexico where he grew up watching his mother cook. One of the appetizers I had was a crunchy shrimp with a avocado mole sauce. For dinner I had a thin cut flank steak topped with a red and green chimiccuri sauce with fresh sautéed vegetables. My wife had a wild caught salmon with a honey soy glaze. For dessert Chef Blas prepared a tequila key lord me pie and a chocolate flan cake. Amazing! If you are out and about in this area, the Hunt Store is a must-see destination. read more

If you are concerned about your safety regarding the covid 19 virus then maybe you should avoid this place. There is a mask policy but it is not enforced. The employees wear them but it appears many of the locals don't care and blatantly joke about it. The wife and I wore our masks as we have done for months and were not comfortable here. We have been stopping at the Hunt Store, since 1993, when we traveled to Kerrville and the Hill country but will avoid this place for the foreseeable future. In fact, Kerrville and the surrounding communities don't seem to take the pandemic seriously. read more

What a disappointment. Order did not have sample of house made chips that were suppose to come with both sandwiches we ordered. Thin crispy fries were soggy and and not crispy as you can see in my picture. Meat counter looked good. I may go back to buy meat but don't think I will be buying any more food. My Papi was not very tasty and Bob Burger was way too big for my friend. read more

When I saw Cuban on the menu, I considered it, but I wasn't in the mood. My aunt ordered it and when our food showed up it was one of those moments you wished you ordered it and no longer care about the bacon cheeseburger you just ordered. I start eating my burger, which don't get me wrong, it was delicious. I kept talking about how good the Cuban looked and the staff that happened to know my aunt, came out and spoke of how good the Cuban is. Ugh, my mouth is on the burger but my mind is on the Cuban sandwich that is screaming at me like I just cheated on the love of my life. Guilt is creeping in and I can't stop staring at it. Now my aunt is feeling my vibes and says, "just take a bite dude." I wanted more than a bite, I wanted to ravish this thing like it was the last meal of my life, like I had one last foodmance and a genie gave me exactly what I needed. I kept eating my burger and thinking of how I'm punishing myself because I wanted it and didn't get it and I shouldn't take away from my aunts experience. Again my aunt looks at me and says, "dude, seriously, just take a bite." I quickly grabbed a knife and gave myself the top 3 inches and cut off. The savory bite took off like a Boeing 747, nice and steady as it climbed altitude making it to the "mother ship" that welcomed it home with a wide open entrance. Juices exploded from the ham and brisket with a warm thick cheese perfectly blended. This was a lesson learned, I live in Austin and must come back to experience, The Papi in a monogamous and committed relationship and you best believe it will be soon. I surprised my grandparents for Valentines bringing them to the Hunt store to see Billy Joe Shaver. They could not believe we drove 5+ hours to go to a gas station - until we walked in! The atmosphere was perfect and the food started coming out immediately! My whole family is in " the business" so when all four of us said it was the best show/concert we have EVER been to, we mean it! We have been coming here for years on our way to Mo Ranch, it is one of the things our kids really look forward to. But today was a sad day bc I think our days of stopping here are over. My daughter got a BLT and it has 2 short slices of bacon on it, yes 2, and it wasn't even good bacon. My husband and I got burgers and both of our patties were in 3 to 4 pieces and held together by the cheese. And for the love of God, why to places think it is a good idea to batter dip their French fries? The staff was not rude but were not friendly either. It's a small town, you just want it to have that small town feel. I don't think we were greeted or told thank you after placing our order, one older gentleman was at least friendly on our way out.
