I've have their pizza a couple of times and highly recommend it! The restaurant itself is kind of small, which means it can feel a bit crowded some nights. One fun aspect of Dark Horse, however, is that the walls (and ceilings!) are lined with custom mugs, each belonging to a Dark Horse regular. This gives the bar a special charm that makes it feel unique. Something to note is that the service can be pretty slow when they're busy.

I feel that somehow their food is overlooked and should not be. They have a great menu. My favorite, all of their pizza selections. They have offered pizza for years, but I have recently discovered their Detroit style pizza. What a game changer! I grew up on Buddy's Pizza and the Dark Horse version might be better. We got the kitchen sink 20" XL and my husband loved that the crust was thinner and the way the slices were cut. This time the pizza was cooked perfectly as well. We also ordered a Caesar salad (croutons had absolutely no flavor, just tasted like fried bread bites). Overall, great pizza and service!

The pizza was better than I expected, to be honest. Although the sauce has a bit of a metallic taste, it was served piping hot right out of the oven! The service was a bit slow, with the three people in the kitchen apologizing, saying that others were calling in. If they knew the place was closing, that probably had a lot to do with it!! But they were nice, and there was no question that they were trying hard. The place is COMPLETELY NOT in compliance with ADA standards. Marshall loses yet another casual dining option. It is a shame.

Both meals had plentiful portions, and I must say, the fries are delish. The place was packed with hard-working people that live in the area. It's definitely a different vibe than downtown, I dare-say the food is better-tasting. Try it! We'll be back.

Two other French dips were delivered without au jus. My Philly cheese steak was okay, but it lacked seasoning and adequate filling. Our appetizers were delivered after the main dishes came out, defeating the point of ordering them. There is absolutely no reason to order the special fries, as they truly were just thinner fries. Tasted nothing different from the standard fries, just crispier because of their smaller size. Loaded fries were missing toppings. The waitress did not check back on us for drinks or food, so we gave up on a better experience. Might have been our luck when we visited, but sitting out front was to our and the other guests' detriment, as the wait staff seemed to forget about us between required visits. We had a decent $40 meal, with a $60+ price tag.
