I have been using Hungry Harvest for over 6 months. They delivered onto Fort Meade military installation with ease. The switch to my new house was seamless. They text me before arriving and upon delivery. Any time I need to make changes, the website is super easy to use. I've also called into customer service. They were kind and extremely helpful!!! I love the produce that we receive. We've tried many new fruits and vegetables and we easily avoid getting those that we don't eat. I began my Hungry Harvest love affair after seeing Evan on Shark Tank. I have loved my food and experiment with eating veggies in new ways. My last box included a whole LOT of kale due to my "hate" list and the current box. So I made the best kale chips ever - a whole batch of them. Add to this the facts that "we" are reducing food waste, helping employ youth and disadvantaged people and eating healthier too. What is there not to love? Their customer service is outstanding. We have been using Hungry Harvest for a while now. We love their concept -- buy one, give one and save food from going to waste. We get the largest bag and it is perfect for our family -- more than enough at a great price (even with price increases!) We like that we can decide if we get it or not (vacation etc). and we like that we get a list to tell us what will be in the bag before it comes so we can pick up other things we might need that wont be delivered, supplement. The customer service is great too. We have not only been contacted to be sure that we got our bag, but when we didnt get a bag once, they were on it in no time! Additionally when we were swimming in green peppers at one point, I sent a note over and they happily helped me out with some small tweaks to the bag. This service has hands-down lead to more creative meals in my kitchen than ever before! Typically, my shopping would revolve around an interesting recipe I pulled from a magazine last week, but now I spend more time rifling through my bookshelf for previously dusty cookbooks or online for Food Network or Alton Brown recipes. I truly appreciate the good that this company is working to achieve in the world. Food waste is a cause that has few national champions. That peach might be a little brown inside (it's just really ripe and sweet!) and the cucumber may have a scar (easy enough to peel that off!), but my soul, stomach, and society is better off for it. Their customer service team is next to none and go above-and-beyond to see to my needs. I know that this service might be difficult for some to initially saddle-up too as grocery stores and adverts have told us for years that less than perfect is bad, but that's simply not true. Also, what's not to love about the produce showing up on your doorstep that you were able to customize the week before? Hungry Harvest has been awesome during the Covid pandemic. I love getting a delivered supply of organic veggies and fruits that would otherwise not be sold. Being able to have a "do not want" list is also incredibly helpful, as is the ability to stop a box whenever I need to, for whatever reason. I've used the Marketplace frequently, adding everything from olive oil to quinoa to shishito peppers. All great quality. I cannot say enough good things about this company! I've been receiving the Mini Organic Harvest for almost two months, and have never had a piece of produce come to me that I've had to completely discard. I've always been upset that so much food is wasted before it even hits supermarket shelves, and wished that something could be done about it. This is the perfect solution. Yes, these bits may never be Whole Foods Models, but they're Perfect for our Plates! Some of the produce would be considered "too small" or "off color" but all is edible and flavorful! I've calculated how much I would have spent at the grocery store for the produce I receive in my Mini Organic Box, and this service is at least a $10-15 savings! I have recommended this service to many of my co-workers and friends in the area. My husband and I are moving, and one of the first things I did was make sure this service would reach us in rural Maryland. I've had to delay boxes without an issue, and I'm sure it would be an easy service to cancel - though I wouldn't dream of doing so! I love getting my box every week from Hungry Harvest! I like that I get a good variety each week of fruits and veggies delivered right to my door. I also like that if there's something I really don't want, I can add it to my "never" list or just customize my harvest for that week. I've gotten some veggies that I normally wouldn't buy in the store and it's forced me to try some new recipes, which turned out great! Your email detailing what's in your harvest that week also has links to recipes for the items you're getting, which is a great value added service! When you turn onto my block you have to bear to the right into a single lane. I noticed someone in a sprinter van on the phone talking and tailgating the back of my bumper so I tapped my brake so that they could ease up. Tapping on my break must've upset the driver. Once he had enough space to pass me he immediately drove pass me and drove he truck in front of me and slammed on his brakes as if he was trying to cause a collision. "THANK GOD I'm a alert driver". Once that happened I noticed it was a Hungry Harvest driver. " I really became in total shock. We both pulled up to my residents at the same time. I parked my car and got out. I asked the driver why did he slam on his brakes and almost caused a accident. He started yelling and screaming and cursing very loud and told me to not say anything to him. He was very belligerent cursing all types of curse words. He was very aggressive as if he was going attack me. He was so loud it prompted my neighbors to come out to see what the commotion was. I asked him why was he like that because he's the face of a company and he's very unprofessional. I told him I was going to report him and I got his name because that order he is delivering is for me. He then put the box back in his truck and put attempted deliver and did not deliver my box. About 30 minutes later the drive can back to red deliver my box but the box had been opened and resealed with a different color of tape vs the tape the box was originally sealed with. (So not only is the driver trying to cause a collision, he's very rude and disrespectful and also tampering with customers merchandise) After two hours of messaging Hungry hunger someone final returned my phone call. F.Y.I. they DO NOT have a customer service number that you can call. I requested someone to urgently return my call. Everything is done through messaging. So I informed them that I DO NOT want that driver to everrrrrr deliver anything ever to my house again. Nothing was really resolved with the people I spoke to besides the fact that they wanted to be more accommodating to the driver by offering my box to be ship through UPS when the driver should've been taken off the route completely. Ain't no telling what kind of issues may arise with waiting for a deliver from UPS with perishable food. He should not be delivering to anyone's home with all that aggression and disrespect that he displayed. Far as the boxes goes the few boxes that I have received has been fair far as the freshness of the veggies. I rather go pick my vegetables up from the market then to be disrespected or assaulted by a Hungry Harvest driver!!! Now that I have browsed through a couple of these reviews I'm not surprised that they hired that driver. They unprofessional there selves. I noticed that if you didn't leave a good review they didn't respond to you. You have people who have left reviews from poor service you skipped over acknowledging that. When I first started thinking about signing up for a CSA, I thought I'd have issues not being able to select my grocery items because I have some odd food allergies. This is an amazing service. They take "ugly" or "unwanted" produce from grocery stores and restaurants and re-distribute it to homes across the DMV. But, honestly, there have been maybe only 1-2 pieces (in 4-ish months) of produce I would have been surprised to see in a grocery store. And it's so great to get some things I never would have thought to pick up at the store. And for an amazing price. Totally getting us through these long weeks at home. I started getting these deliveries right before everything happened with COVID-19 and now the service is trying to ramp up, but I'd definitely recommend getting on their waiting list if you can! read more

I began ordering produce through Hungry Harvest at the start of the COVID19 pandemic to reduce my trips to the grocery store and to buy more sustainably and I'm very happy with my decision. I will likely continue to order from HH after COVID is over because, for a very low price, you receive great quality fruits and veggies that are packed with 0 or little plastic (which as a marine scientist I greatly appreciate). I also love that you can order foods such as eggs, bread, and other pantry essentials in their weekly marketplace page. I was receiving the organic box for a few months, and decided to cancel. The quality is OK, but not stellar -- occasionally, though not frequently, there would be fruit or vegetables that were starting to rot. But, most importantly, I didn't like the selection. They will send you whatever's left over, not necessarily locally sourced, and you'll end up receiving summer fruit in the middle of winter, cucumbers and potatoes again and again, just not a very interesting or coherent bunch. And the price per item ends up being at Whole Foods levels, so I didn't see the reason to keep paying for random items that I didn't need. (On the other hand, you can often find good deals in their optional weekly add-ons, so if you decide to go with them, keep an eye on those every week.) read more

Omg this is the best subscription I've ever signed up for. So convenient and I'm AMAZED at how much produce I get for the price. I can't believe the big box stores would toss this stuff. All the produce I've received is 100% fresh and ready to eat. I get the mini harvest and I'm always amazed at the quantity and quality of produce. They send the right amount of notifications including to let me know the driver is on the way. This works out well for me because I get the box delivered to my office. We used Hungry Harvest on and off for about a year. Ultimately we decided we were throwing away too much of the produce to continue. Some of the produce is fresh and keeps well, but other things don't last very long at all or even come halfway gone. Hungry Harvest is a great service! I get the mini-harvest once per week which is $15 (plus a small delivery fee to Virginia), and sometimes get add-ons. I feel like it's a great amount of food for the price, and I like helping to eliminate food waste! The produce is generally good quality. Part of the deal is you get ugly (e.g. scarred), oversize, undersize, or overstock produce. I've gotten some 2-inch diameter carrots and some golf-ball-sized onions! Most of the produce is overstock, from what I've noticed. Occasionally, I get an item that is moldy or wilty. If this happens, just send them an email with a photo and they'll apply a discount for your next delivery. It delivers to your doorstep which is a great convenience! If it's raining, they put it in a bag, and if it's hot, they include an ice pack (which is reusable, recyclable, or you can leave it for them to pick up if you don't want it and can't recycle it). You can have the delivery weekly, or every other week. Unlike traditional CSAs, it's easy to cancel for a week (if you're out of town, or just don't want to cook much that week). You are allowed to choose 6 items you never want, which I appreciate (I just don't care about iceberg lettuce) and 6 you love (though I'm not sure that one has as much impact). read more

My husband and I love Hungry Harvest! We decided to use their service after a friend recommended them. We hadn't been eating as much fruits and veggies during the pandemic and wanted to really focus on eating healthier. Ordering form Hungry Harvest is an easy, sustainable way to get good produce without having to go to the grocery store. We've loved everything including the challah bread you can sometimes order as an extra. We have the full harvest which we're able to customize to our liking each week. We've had one or two orders where a few pieces of produce had actually spoiled, but they quickly provided a refund when I sent them the pictures. Customer service is awesome! I've spent a lot of my life trying to be frugal, and part of that time cruising the produce sections at places like Market Basket to find fresh things to fill out my diet. Now that I'm doing a bit better and am looking for ways to save time, I've found Hungry Harvest. It's like having a friend who knows what you don't like, and what you love, who leaves a lovingly packaged box of produce tucked away in your porch once a week because they work in the industry. If I did have that loving friend, I'd pay them in a nice bottle or two of vino, In this case, I pay $15 a week. And my friends love the idea so much I've referred several (which nets both of us a sweet discount) The customer service is caring and fast and I've always enjoyed what I've gotten, another upside...I also now eat more kale! I am happy to be supporting Hungary Harvest! There is so much food waste in America. We need to use and eat the produce that may not always look perfect (too big, too small, skin marks, different shade in color) but, is wonderfully healthy and delicious. We've been receiving boxes from Hungry Harvest for a few months now. The produce is always excellent, and value is great! I found that our household wasn't eating the fruit as fast as it came, so we switched to an all-veggie box, occasionally supplementing with eggs (they are jumbo and many double-yolked!). I enjoy cooking, but have gotten into a rut. We often get veggies that I haven't bought (brussels sprouts, beets) so it's fun to try new recipes. You get an email a couple of days before the delivery that reminds you to customize the delivery, so if you KNOW you don't want something you can eliminate it - but try it, you might like it! :) You're also able to stop the delivery for a week or 2 if you're away or for some other reason. As a family of 4 with 2 kids under 3, it's a perfect way to save money on fruits and veggies, save time at the grocery store (or inflated grocery delivery costs), and explore new and fun fruits and veggies we probably wouldn't have bought normally. I ADORE Hungry Harvest and have really enjoyed being a part of their community. First of all, the amount of food you get for the cost can't be beat. This week I got 2 avocados, a head of cabbage, 5 potatoes, 2 pears, 2 oranges, and 4 carrots for $18 (including shipping--the mini harvest). Some weeks it's even more than that. You get an email weekly with your produce in it, so that you can plan to use what you have. Perhaps my favorite part of the whole experience is the facebook community. I noticed that I had received onions a few weeks in a row and hadn't used them, so I asked the group what to do with the onions. 40 people responded with recipes and tips. I researched a ton of different csa's in the area and this is the best deal (only $15 each week). I've found that while they say the value is because the food is "imperfect" I can see literally no difference with what I'd see in a grocery store and the taste is significantly better and with lots of great variety and the ability to substitute. Favorites have included delicious mangos (and I'm indian and super choosy about these!), baby San Marzano tomatoes, kiwis, delicious apples, kale, lettuce, and more!
