Ordered delivery on Saturday evening watching the Nats game. We ordered the Crab Rangoon, Double Delight, Roast Pork Lo Mein and Combo Fried Rice. Delivery was super fast and driver was awesome! Even talked some Nats baseball. This was Chinese food elevated! It was another level. The fresh approach to the dishes with fresh, not frozen vegetables and no MSG or preservatives made a difference. I found this gem on the way back home from visiting vacation. We decided to try this place since our cousins, that live nearby, recommended this place. The first thing I come into was the really nice asian gentleman (Izzi) welcoming us and asking how are day was. It was our first time and he seemed to know it too, so he recommended us the General Tso's chicken, crispy chicken, and mongolian beef. After we ordered, he was able to keep a conversation as we were waiting. He was so funny and nice--Hunan Cafe definently found a star of a worker. He made our wait time fly by! We ordered delivery from here the food was awful. We called as soon as we tasted it to either get new food made or refund. They wanted us to bring the food back! Why would we bring back the food that we ordered for delivery! So now when and if we order they refuse to delivery to us! They made crappy food and it's our fault????? Tried this place out due to a flyer in our mailbox. We ordered our usual, shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, beef lo mein and cra rangoon. We also added schezuan chicken as well. The lo mein seemed a bit bland but everything else was pretty tasty. I rather enjoyed the medium sized shrimp in the rice. I expected the schezuan to be a bit more spicier, however I think it is just spicy enough to be enjoyed by younger family members. All in all, not bad at all. read more

My niece was visiting and accidentally ordered from this location. Instead of the owner being understanding and letting it go he started swearing at her. He said,"What the hell is wrong with you?" "Have you all been smoking all night?" You can't make this stuff up. He ended up hanging up on her while she apologized. As her Aunt, I was livid. I called back and spoke to him he immediately went into how he told her what location it was. I explained that she doesn't live here and did not know. I also said he was being ignorant, speaking to her like that, and very unprofessional. Unfortunately, the call became a shouting match because he would not listen and started using the F word at me. I am not proud of my response to him bringing me to his low level. This location obviously has very ignorant, abusive, and unprofessional staff. We have called out for delivery several times. Each and every time we have tipped the driver. Tonight I get a call from them saying I hadn't tipped the driver 3x's in a row. Not true. I asked who put the note in the system. They couldn't answer. I asked who I was speaking to, they said they were a cashier. Oh no... After such an encouraging first experience, reordered many of the same items, to a completely different result. To start, the beef on stick wasn't cooked through - rubbery and near raw. It was the first item to go into the trash. This time, the beef with black bean sauce was lacking the same fresh chunks of vegetables, was well under seasoned, and the red peppers had been replaced with green peppers and zucchini. The new dish, steamed chicken with vegetables had nice florets of broccoli and snow peas, but everything else suffered from the same small pieces as the black bean sauce this venture. Further, the request to not have celery in was completely ignored, and so it had to go into the bin with the beef on stick. Lastly, the chicken egg foo young this evening was less of a stylized omelet and more of small tidbits of vegetable and chicken in a barely-formed patty of scrambled eggs. While edible, it only resembled egg foo young until bitten or cut into. This was such a disappointing experience, and, in that a good bit of food (and therefore, money) was wasted, another visit is highly unlikely. read more

I've been a loyal customer for a long time but today is my last day ordering. I placed a delivery order online and get a call from the restaurant telling me that they charge an extra .30 that's right 30 cent for a side of hot oil that's FREE if you are doing a pick up order. Quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Customer service is awful and I will not be returning. Watch out they will try to rip you off if you are doing delivery. Do not try and rip your delivery customers off and charge for something that would be free if they came in the restaurant. read more

My family came in at 4:20 after my brother's graduation. We didn't get seated for 15 minutes despite the restaurant being empty. My dad had to actually ask if there was anyone was able to seat us before someone went over to the reception. The food was stale, it was almost empty and they didn't switch to dinner until about 5:17. I know this because that's when we were leaving. They still charged us for dinner instead of lunch even though we came in 40 minutes before lunch begins. We didn't want to argue but that whole meal felt like a rip-off. Go somewhere else. read more

Wonderful little Chinese food place. Good chef, food is not the typical salty, super sweet entrees. Veggies are not overcooked. The restaurant looks new and clean. The free eggroll that came with the lunch special is not soggy and greasy. Fried rice is not grainy dry. I hope it does not change. I will say it again, I hope it does not change. Even the lady at the register is wonderful - how crazy is that? Note all my "nots"... the other places around unfortunately have started committing them after about 6 - 12 mos. After a day out, near Gainesville, I was looking for a Chinese restaurant to help me quelch my hunger pains. This place is amazing! The staff are all so very nice, and the food was incredible! I ordered the Orange Chicken, with "healthy brown rice"... YUMMY! It is conveniently located next to a Baskin Robbins, (YAY!), although a little "out of the way" for where I was going... it was WELL worth the tiny drive away from my path. You'll love it! Best Chinese takeout in Gainesville! They advertise themselves with NO MSG and NO CANNED VEGETABLES. With no way to confirm that, I can tell you that the food is above average. I've been about 3 times and their fried rice, orange chicken and kung pao is pretty tasty. We even accidentally ordered delivery during a tornado/rain storm and the food still arrived on time. 4/5 not 5 because of cleanliness.
