came to the farm with my boyfriend to do the farm tour and had such a great time!!! we called day of and she said to come on over. we were greeted upon arrival by 100 cats. miss sherry was very welcoming and jared (who gave the tour) was hilarious & very quippy. we collected eggs, fed the cats, pigs, deer, cows, goats, sheep, and we got to ride in his tiny little farm car (whats it called? lol) we would definitely recommend the farm tour if you have the chance to go and love animals and don't mind getting a little dirty! at the end i got to move a bunch of tiny kittens from a corner of the barn into a little box and watch them feed. it was magical. read more

We stayed two nights. We had the best time and experience. Ms. Sherry is so so sweet, her sons help run the farm and are personable and open to all questions regarding farm life. They are patient with the kids too. They show you the ropes and let you participate in whatever farm activies you want to help with. They have amazing meats to cook up/bbq. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you need to cook utensil wise. I texted Sherry to ask about spices and bake ware. She responded quickly and even was willing to give us a little BBQ sauce if we needed it. This is such a loving family/farm. We wish we stayed longer. They have pigs, chickens, sweet cows, baby cows, sweet lambs and goats. A nice bull you can pet. Oh there is an abundance of cats and a deer herd which you can pick grass and feed them. Other experiences was the most fun bon fire with Ron. He was so fun and great with the kids. He told jokes, sung campfire songs brought s'mores. I visited this farm bc I watched the segment from Good Morning America on their website and thought it seemed educational and fun. I wanted to see how a real farm works. The tour was said to be an hour and include milking a cow. In reality, if you take the 3pm tour there is no cow milking and it was about 25 min. We followed a farm hand around and poured hose water into troughs and fed the animals. It was really boring and not very informative. I would not have bothered to leave a review except the price for this was absurd. $25. So I paid a dollar a minute to do someone else's chores and learn nothing. Would not recommend. read more

Unfortunately, our experience at this farm was quite disappointing. Ms. Sherry was very kind and welcoming, but the man who gave us the tour was rather rude and dismissive. Any time we asked a question, he responded as if we were bothering him. We asked about the history of the farm and all he said was, "We're the seventh generation." That was it--no interest in sharing anything more. The facilities were in terrible shape, and the animals looked neglected. The kittens had visible eye infections, and overall, the animals seemed to be in poor condition. We've visited several farms before, and sadly, this was by far the worst experience. It definitely wasn't worth the price, and there was no real educational aspect to the tour. I'm giving two stars only because of Ms. Sherry's kindness, but otherwise, I would not recommend this place. read more

I first stumbled upon Hull-O in the summer of 2020 when I was desperate for a vacation with my family but I was worried about leaving NY State due to the quarantining restrictions etc. This place is a hidden gem for families! I don't know why more people don't know about it, but they use word of mouth as their primary mode of advertisement. This is a working family farm that has been in their family for 7 generations. There are cows, deer, chickens, cats, horses, sheep, goats, pheasants, bunnies, and pigs. The kids get to do chores alongside Farmer Jared - his rapport with kids (and adults and animals for that matter) is kind, patient, and a dry humor comedy show. The kids feed all of the animals, pet and interact with them, milk the cows, collect eggs, and see how what farmers do. It is just such an enriching experience for animal lover kids like mine. We have stayed on site several times in the cottages which has been transformative. It's like leaving the rapid pace of regular life and taking a step back in time with your family. Put down your phones (except when you're getting all the great pics) and spend time with each other. Get to know your kids. Make breakfast together. Ms. Sherry's pancake mix is amazing, and the breakfast sausage from the farm is Amazing. My family has done all the big kid activities and resorts (rocking horse, great wolf lodge, sesame place, Dutch wonderland, etc) and we frequent the "commercial" farms (harbes, white post, Hurds, etc) but this is so different and we keep coming back. It is more intimate. These people invite you into their world for a few days. We have gone in summer, fall, and winter and all of the seasons are different and special. We just returned from there and paired it with Tubing at Windham, and Ice Skating in Saugerties. If you're in Windham or Hunter with your family, you can stop by for the day. If you're looking to take the kiddos away from the city, not too far, and have a realistic, but easy paced farm stay- Hull-O farms should be at the top of your list. From a personalized welcome and explanation of the farm from Sherry (Farmer Frank's wife) to the quality treats waiting in your home (incredible pancake mix and INSANELY amazing breakfast sausage) you'll be glad you came. The schedule for farm work starts at an easy 8am and can last 45-90 minutes if your kids are getting fully indoctrinated. Our 9 year old enjoyed feeding the cows and milking them. Our 6 year old had a blast collecting eggs. The stars of the show were definitely the kittens and cats that were running around the barn and grounds. Very friendly and interactive. The farmhands were patient and helpful answering questions and explaining the run of show. You quickly realize what goes into running a small portion of a big farm and appreciate it even more. Don't miss out on bringing home some of the meats or pancake mix there's no other way to get it! (makes great gifts). Farmer Frank has been here his entire life and he's already a few generations deep. They are caring for their guests and animals and you'll have a wonderful stay (we stayed 5 nights). It's unclear who will be next in line but it'd be a shame to not have Hull-O to visit. read more

Good deals usually include value in terms of a product or service at a great price. A vacation at Hull-O-Farms, at first, didn't seem like a good deal to me. The price paid for my family's accommodations, meals and farming activities seemed a bit high. We went anyway to experience something different. The activities surrounding the farm's goats, pigs, sheep, deer, calves, chickens and milking cows all lived up to expectations. It's an experience that can ground someone and make them realize what farmers have done for families their whole lives. As a child, there's milk in your fridge, eggs for breakfast, meat on the table at dinner and your parents get it from the grocery store. What you'll see at Hull-O-Farms is where it really comes from and how much labor is involved to bring it to your home. Your look around the countryside and thank the generations of American farming families who dedicated their lives to supplying you. Sadly, many of those families have been going out of business at staggering rates due to falling milk prices. They're left with nothing. Yes, the farm animal activities were fun. Farmer Frank and Jared were kind and Ms Sherry was especially sweet. There's fun fishing at a nearby lake. Meals were good, although not quite the "farm to table" I was expecting. I would've also liked to have experienced more vegetable farming as there wasn't much of that in the vacation. Additionally, if you're going to go, try to stay at "the Rose". It's a house right near the animals and main farmhouse. It's what you are likely envisioning when you think about staying at a farm and looking out at the open country. We stayed at "the Austin" downstairs, which is a mile away from the farmhouse, down a different road on a small property, surrounded by thick brush and no windows in the bedrooms. It felt a bit eerie at night. We had some of our most fun chopping down corn, loading it into a pickup with Farmer Frank and son Jared, then driving around the farm to feed the animals. By the end of our trip, I was humbled and happy to support this farming family. We even purchased some of their products to take home. To me, the good deal here came from an opportunity to give back to a family who's helped keep alive over 200 years of farming. read more

My family returned from the farm a few days ago and my 2.5 year old daughter is still talking about all the animals she met. Every morning she wakes up and talks about her "best friends" describing the other kids that she played with and did chores with. The daily routine starts by waking up in your own cute little home and breathing in the fresh mountain air. It is so quiet and serene and feels calm. You make your way over to the farm house and get a fresh cup of coffee or hot chocolate and you have the option to feed all the animals that live on the farm with Farmer Jared. Jared is so kind with the kids and they are excited to help him with the daily chores. At 9AM, the bell rings and Sherry (The Farmers Wife) has whipped up a 4 course breakfast that is comprised of the farms chicken eggs, her own pancake mix, pork (from the farm) sausage, and fruit. They even included a booster seat and toddler sized utensils for my kid. When the kids have had enough, there are ample toys in the dining room so that the adults can continue to chow down. The day continues and there are more chores if you wish and then you are free to roam and relax or go take in some of the local attractions. It is a really quiet community. When my kid is older, it would be an ideal spot to just sit in the hammock and read a book cover to cover. Dinner time is special because Sherry really makes a dinner to remember. Every meal we ate was "the best we ever had" and a truly enjoyable meal. Everyone else staying on the farm was in a similar state and it wasn't that annoying "B&B" feel where you are in an awkward space. It truly felt like we were all part of the same family. If you are lucky enough, there is also a campfire and a singalong with unlimited smores. This trip was worth every penny. My daughter worked on her manners, shared chores with other kids, ate really good food, and had an amazing time. Seeing the look in her eyes as she got up close an personal with pigs, chickens, cows, deer, kittens, horses, and more was something I will always remember. We plan to come back and escape NYC for the weekend as often as we can!! read more

Visited on 10/9/16 for a hayride and a stroll through the corn maze. There was no charge for the hayride, the correct maze cost $7.50 for children 4 and over and $5.00 for kids 3 and under. It was a crisp fall day and the leaves were changing colors which added to the experience. They offered some pumpkin picking but they were all in a bin, not strewn about in an open field. There were also some goats and ponys in the front you can pet. The kiddies had fun, but it only took less than a half hour to walk through. read more

Took the three year old triplets there in the fall. We were the first ones there, and Farmer Frank took us up to the corn maze on the hay ride trailer. Theres the old family cemetery up there, and wandering thru the corn maze was both fun and annoying, but good exercise, walking back down to the farm stand where pumpkins, Maple syrup and farm raised venison were available for purchase. There is also a bed and breakfast thing going on in the house, but we only went for the maze and animals and farm experience for the triplets who have led a sheltered life in Beverly Hills. read more

We just came back from Hull o Farms. We were there the last weekend of October 2017 with our 4 year old twins. We had a lovely time. It surpassed my expectations (and they were high to start with). The kids (and us) and a blast. The owners (farmer frank, sherry and their son Gerad ) are lovely and very friendly. I thought the place might feel a bit commercial but it didnt..feels like an authentic farm that it is....and the kids were free to run around and play with the animals and help in all the shores and it all felt perfectly safe. We also bought some fantastic quality meat from there. We stayed there for a night and the accommodation was comfortable and clean. Will definitely go again. read more

I made my reservation for end of August way back in early April just to be safe and not have to worry about things booking up - but over 2 months after I made the reservation I got a call saying there was some error in their bookings and they could no longer accommodate me. I have never heard of this happening to anyone before - and I don't understand why, if there was a clerical error, it took them so long to realize it! Sounds like they just had a big party with a longer stay that they couldn't turn down, so they gave us the boot. There was very little offered to compensate me besides an apology. That won't help me now that I have to scramble to find a place for my kids and I to go for our summer vacation. And to make matters worse, I had to call them over a week later because they still hadn't refunded my deposit. Not good. I am a small business owner and I am definitely NOT in the habit of bashing other businesses with bad reviews, but I really found this to be totally unacceptable and was not handled properly at all.
