a patio overlooking a river

This was the first time we have been here, we are from out of state. We stopped by for lunch and sat outside. It was so nice and peaceful and pretty. The food was good, decent prices. The service was great, friendly staff.

Breakfast on the North Platte River, birds chirping, deer grazing in nearby fields. Mama goose and her gosling swim past. Perfect country scenery Good service by attentive staff. Breakfast skillet was tasty as was the bacon and eggs. We will definitely be back

The Malt - The Irish Coffee shake from the Boozy Shake menu.

The Malt

The Malt is a restaurant housed formerly where the distillery known as Firewater. The Malt is…read moreowned by the same people that had Firewater but they determined during the covid pandemic that how their set up was wasn't sustainable in order to remain in business so they went more with a hamburger and sandwich route to adapt to the changing times. On a visit back to my hometown I wanted to try The Malt and see what has changed and what I thought about their food since their modification. Their atmosphere is a little different but also some of it remained the same. The paint job is different and of course the menu but there is some familiarity here as well. I was excited to try out their hamburgers and I tried the FW Burger which I liked really well! I also tried some of their french fries and shared them with my mother. We both enjoyed those quite a bit as well. The Malt has a pretty sizeable list of different milkshakes that they have available and looks like it is another one of their specialities in addition to hamburgers and hence living up to the namesake of the restaurant. I got one of the milkshakes off of their boozy portion of the shake menu. I got the Irish Coffee shake with some Irish Whiskey and Kahlua which was very good and much needed as I needed something to unwind and relax with. The Malt has a full bar it appears and it doesn't look all that much different from when it was Firewater in that regard so that looks like that hasn't changed so plenty of cocktail opportunities there I am guessing. I am glad the adaptation was made and that the building where The Malt is is still being used as it is a great location and has a beautiful view of the North Platte River which definitely enhances the dining experience for sure.

Great food in a casual indoor/outdoor setting. Food choices were casual sandwiches with a few…read moreplates. Every choice had an extra special touch or ingredient of some kind which made everything extra good. We were here in the previous place and while it's changed things up a bit, it's still very worth a visit.

I was raised in Saratoga so I kind of go off of the older name of The Saratoga Inn. Since I have…read morefamily nearby there isn't much need to get a room here or any other lodging business in town. But I do enjoy coming here for lunch. I usually go to the bar section of the place in which they have their own craft beer. The lunches are good and have hearty portions. And often my visits can have an exhaustive nature to them so escaping to this bar which is fairly quiet during the day for a pint is very nice. Getting a craft beer pint reminds me of where I live now where defaulted beer that everyone associates with beer drinking isn't the norm. It's been a while since I have had an evening meal here but I recently have had their breakfast buffet which is very nice. The food is nice and fresh and flavorful! Last year my father passed away and we did a private catering event in the dining room which was very nice. They got us in on very short notice and the event went quite smoothly. The organizer was extremely helpful and organized and laid out all the options for the event we were needing to do after the funeral. So that went quite smoothly. I am not sure when my next visit back will be but if it's a trip of a recreational and casual nature I will definitely stop by the bar for a pint of beer!
