Highly disappointed given the historic nature of this place. Service was just bad. I got a sense of arrogance like they thought this was the best place in town. Server was very curt & short. We were almost all the way through our dinner before they checked back on us. Really did not feel welcomed or appreciated. Asked for the check to be split two ways, which did not happen. So we left cash for one half & card for the other. Full bill was charged to the card, most likely cause they ASSUMED cash was for the tip. I will say however, the food was good & steak cooked to temp. But... the cocktail sauce for the shrimp was very ketchupy & needed more horseradish & lemon. They also need to improve on their cocktails & knowing how to make them. Drink was way watered down from the type of iced used. Great historic building with a fun restaurant and bar. Keeping the historic feel with the decor this was a fun place to eat. We also went across the hall to have a beer in the bar after lunch. The sandwiches we had were very good. They were accommodating when I asked to switch one of the deli meats. Several sides to choose from . They serve dinner as well. We stayed in Room 10 for one night and had a great experience. The room was clean, fresh-smelling, and nicely furnished with charming historic pieces. The bed was very comfortable, and the sheets and towels were spotless. As it's an older building, sound does travel a bit, but that's to be expected with its historic character. We'd definitely stay here again when we're in the area! We didn't have a chance to dine at the restaurant this time, but we enjoyed having drinks in the bar. We stopped in Saratoga on vacation. We easily got a reservation on the way to town. The restaurant is beautiful. Dinner was superb. Started with the sautéd mushrooms, these are to die for. Ordered prime rib, and it was the best I've had in quite a while. Husband had the 8 oz sirloin with the sweet and spicy dry rub, which was topped with bleu cheese. Incredible. Dessert. The Hotel Wolf makes the absolute best French dip sandwich in the entire universe. Lots of roast beef with ALL the fat trimmed off! Paired with their sweet potato fries (and a salad from the salad bar), it's a meal I would request as my last, if I were on death row. Even if I was a vegetarian. HA! There are lots of other great options at the Wolf, of course--plus the service is always great, and the Hotel is charming. Check the hours/days they're open, though. Stopped here on my way to the hot springs and have to say that the food was amazing. I simply got a burger with fries but it came out hot and very juicy and flavorful. Beautiful historic hotel! Victorian rooms are small but comfortable and attractive. Separat faucets for hot and cold - that sort of old west charm. Service is excellent, friendly, prompt and accommodating. On site bar and restaurant also include excellent service and delicious food. The restaurant is deservedly popular in town so reservations may be needed for dinner. Hotel is walking distance under 2 blocks to nearly everything in town including several fun shops and restaurants. Very close to hobo hot springs. My husband and I cannot wait to return to this restaurant. It was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. We both had the prime rib. The salad bar was amazing, I could've had that all by itself. I wish we had gotten desert to try! The building was really cool as well, they have an old pay phone in the hall that my daughter loved. Our family members (that are locals) brought us here to check out. It's a very neat & beautiful hotel. The dinner was good, very filling, & cooked well. Our waitress was also kind & attentive (even though she was being over worked), I believe her name was Noel. It's unfortunate that we had a rather poor experience to start with. We arrived at 5:45 Pm as we had reservations at 6. We went to have a drink at the bar while we waited for the restaurant to open. The bar tender was incredibly rude because we weren't locals. There were two women sitting in the middle of the bar so we kindly asked if they minded to scoot over as there were 5 in our party. The women didn't mind at all and scooted over. The BT exclaimed "oh the things we do for tourists." When my FIL stated he is from the area she stated she had never seen him before. We then asked her about purchasing a sticker and she replied with saying they are only for tourists. With us being from Texas we said we'd like one. She then stated we need to get our story together about if we were locals or not. After heckling us about our residency we showed our license. During this time we were closing out when she brought my brothers card over and physically flicked it at him because she "only gives locals special treatment." This is no way to treat anyone let alone tourists who are economically stimulating the quaint town of Saratoga. I didn't catch the BT's name but we visited on Aug 16. It's difficult to accurately review this property, as I would give the Wolf Hotel 2 Stars, the lounge 3 Stars and the Restaurant 4 Stars. The hotel hasn't done much to enhance your stay since it was built in the 1890's, other that running water and flushing toilets. You will get very little rest: Uncomfortable beds, outrageously noisy plumbing, and the floors and walls creek every time anyone above or around you breaths heavy. No fridge, no microwave, no ice or any other guest services regardless of your needs unless the bar is open. Sink draining issues. We came a bit early, and the desk person told us to come back in an hour. We came back in an hour and a half and a new smug desk person told us to come back in three more hours. We had to go to a restaurant down the street for ice, and getting an extra towel was impossible. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The lounge was an expected old school saloon totally appropriate for the setting. Night bartender was super nice and efficiently took care of a very busy bar. The Restaurant staff was terrific. They have a large menu, but don't open for breakfast so you have to wait until 11:30 to eat. Dinner is super busy so you are best off to make a reservation. We came here for dinner. We wanted to sit on the bar side but it was packed so we sat on the other side (restaurant side). They offered a salad bar and soup with the order and everything was really good. The prime rib was delicious, cooked to order! The waitress was very nice and I really enjoy the salad buffet. We were desperate for a hotel during our road trip to Oregon so I googled nearby hotels and this popped up. It was 20 miles off the main highway so I called ahead to make sure they had a room. The hotel was a nice surprise and the opposite of staying at a chain. Upon entry into the building there is a bar to the left with unending character and this is where you go to register for the room. Everybody was wearing masks so I was happy to see that. Our room was up one flight of very old stairs. I don't think there are rooms on the first floor and I didn't see an elevator so this place could be an issue for a disabled person. Our room was delightful with the furniture matching the age of the building. My only complaint is that we couldn't get the radiators to work but since it isn't winter we didn't try very hard and it didn't get too cold at night. This was a great place to stay. We decided to try the hotel restaurant which is on the main floor. The food was ok but not great especially considering the rather hefty bill. It was busy so we had to make a reservation. read more

We stayed a night in this charming, historic hotel. We loved the look and feel of the whole place. We enjoyed the big porch with benches to sit and and watch the activity (which is surprisingly a lot) in this great little town. We enjoyed a beer, straight through the swinging bar doors (also complimentary peanuts). Dinner at the restaurant was delicious and the service was outstanding. Our room (9 The Joe Pickett room) was so comfortable and we loved the decor and authentic feel to it. We would definitely stay here again. Great experience from beginning to end. read more

We had a great stay and dinner at Wolf Hotel. The hotel room was updated and SUPER clean which I really appreciate. The bathroom had an updated shower that was better than the one I have at home :D Stepping into this hotel was like stepping back in time in the best ways possible. The saloon was through double swinging doors with a pool table. Through the bar is another room with photos and documents from the beginning of the hotel. Fun to go to a bar/hotel/restaurant built and operated from 1893. Loved the swinging doors as you enter the bar. Great assortment of beers on tap as well as some creative cocktails. We generally enjoyed our stay in Saratoga (the hot springs are some of the best we've ever experienced), but Jamie brought of lack of hospitality I have never experienced before. We will never return to this place. We received what we expected in the room at a very reasonable price. We run a five star lodge in Estes Park, CO, and I have never experienced the kind of treatment I received from Jamie. She went out of her way to antagonize and insult my wife repeatedly throughout the night for not being a local to the point that she was brought to tears. I would never tolerate an employee treating a guest this way. I almost never leave reviews, but this experience was exceptionally hostile, and I can't believe anybody would allow an employee to treat a guest this way. After a fake apology, Jamie decided that round 2 was in order. Businesses like this end up on Hotel Impossible and can't understand why. We spent hours driving from an exceptional tourist destination to bring our family to a new place we had never experienced before. We received nothing but insults and unbridled hostility from the bartender at our hotel specifically targeted at my wife. The idea that we paid money for this experience is absolutely insane. I genuinely hope this hotel fails and is purchased by a competent hospitality professional. There is absolutely no excuse for this behavior. If you encounter Jamie still employed at the bar here, leave immediately. read more
