Since I couldn't be home during the painting, I asked the crew to leave all receipts and empty paint buckets as proof. They sent me "receipt" stating 25 of 5 gallon buckets ordered -NOT PURCHASED. When I returned, only 4 out of 25 buckets were there--3 without labels and 1 with a label. This is suspicious. then I double check the receipt, the "receipt" was actually just an order form, not an invoice. When I asked again for proof of purchase, they couldn't provide it. I checked directly with the Sherwin-Williams store, and they confirmed there were no purchases made by the subcontractor from prime coat in the past month. It was bad experience as we took a while to pick the color and best product for my house. But prime coat cut corner to use low quality paints which we don't even know if it has any brand. On the same day when I wrote the review in google, there were 8 five star reviews added in 24 hours. You can make your own judgement.

In todays time this is a hard one because there are so many options and with that so many flakes or poor service. Daniel the owner is always responsive to our requests and gets back quotes in a timely manner. Daniel and his crew are very detailed oriented and continued to clean up behind themselves making it easier on us while home. They are very efficient and kept to their timeline given when we asked for our quote. We have now had them paint the complete interior of our home and couldn't be happier. All floor mold trim, edges and the ceiling lines are cut in perfect. The entire house was given two full coats that were hand applied via a brush and roller. This was a deciding factor in wanting good coverage and not wanting to have a paint sprayer in our home. We have had such great success with Vision Painting and Daniel that we are using the company again for our exterior of our home when their schedule allows. Although Martin was very polite and responsive via text, when it came to following through on cleaning up the mess that the painters left, he completely stopped responding to us. Edgar and one other person did the work. The other person drove a car that left huge oil stains in the driveway of our new home (my husband requested I mention that). I'm not sure if one or both of them were totally incompetent at painting, but they left a mess after we did a walk through and did a ton of touch-up on the walls. I made the HUGE mistake of thinking all was good and headed off to continue packing at our old house, and left them and my husband as they cleaned up. After they removed the tape, there was bleed-through all over our beautiful new baseboards! As I looked around further, there was paint slopped on some of the windows and even the kitchen cabinets! So very unprofessional! Martin hadn't mentioned until the day they were starting and I was already at the house that he wanted cash, half up front. So daily we stopped at ATMs trying to accommodate him. It's been over a month since he texted saying they would come out that week to clean up the mess and he's not responding to me any longer. Now I've got the huge task of trying to figure out how to remove the paint without damaging the baseboards. Be warned, it seems they don't hire professional painters!

Due to other renovations happening at the house, painting couldn't start till a couple months after. Miguel was in charge of most of the painting and he finished everything within my very tight timeline. With limited time they were still able to get multiple coats on our trims and it came out beautifully. They even painted our old heaters to match the rest of the house. The attention to detail was superb. They use paint from Sherwin Williams which was almost odorless when they were done. Martin also worked with me with my very tight budget. The other businesses in my area quoted my small 1000 sqft home for more than double the price Martin charged me. Overall, highly recommend!

We have a sunroom with wood beams which support roof skylights but needed to be enlarged with…read moreadditional beams to raise and hold multiple new skylights. After Armor Roofing remodeled the beam structure and installed skylights, Refined Painting patched the new interior two-beam sets with "mud" and paint to make each one of them appear like single white smooth textured beams. They also textured a portion of a wall that needed attention after a roof leak. They did a flawless job with multiple coats of priming, patching and painting the beams and returned a couple weeks latter to sand, "mud" and repaint a few small bubbles that arose in the curing process. The crew really is refined in their craft which goes way beyond painting. Jose, Luis, Julio and the entire crew are pros -- I want to say "artists" -- in drywall, texturing, reconstruction prep and painting.

The actual painting was good, and the crew was very nice. But they left our property covered in lead paint chips. We spent about three weeks cleaning up, and because we couldn't get all of the chips, we ultimately (by recommendation of the state) had to remove the top layer of soil from much of our yard, bring in new soil, and redo the landscaping in an effort to contain the contamination. When we first noticed the chips and contacted the owner, he said that his workers said they did follow protocol so he doesn't know how it could be so bad. Then he suggested we shouldn't be so upset because our property was probably already contaminated from previous paint jobs. They then offered to use a leaf blower to clean up the chips--which would have simply blown them into other parts of our property or our neighbors' yards. Afterward, I researched Washington's lead-paint requirements and found that there are specific training and certification requirements for work on homes built before 1978. My understanding is that the owner had completed the training, but Refined Painting as a company is not certified so the crew working on our home had not completed the training. This is so obvious now, given the outcome. I would also advise against using their carpenter if you need any work done on your house in preparation for painting. It was some of the worst carpentry work I have seen with wood not being properly aligned and bits reaffixed crookedly. Their project manager agreed that it looked terrible and said that they would fix it all but in the end only fixed some of the problems and just left the others and painted over it. Besides the pollution and the carpentry, the painting itself looked great, all the workers were very nice and Jose, the owner, is a great salesman (he could sell you your own shoe). But the way the lead paint was handled left us with a major cleanup and forever worried about the toxicity of our yard and our kids' exposure. Also the wonky carpentry work will need to be fixed. If you have a pre-1978 home and are prepping for painting, I would strongly recommend asking anyone bidding on your project for their lead based paint certification for their company and getting details about their lead-safe practices, containment, and cleanup guarantees. I wish for the sake of my children that we had.
