I came to this salon again because last time, Megan (the owner) did my hair color and the results were absolutely beautiful -- perfect for my daughter's wedding. During that first visit, Megan was highlighting my hair and, because I swim a lot, there was a reaction. It took some extra care, but she made it work. The end result looked amazing, and I left very happy. Because of that great result, I trusted the salon and booked another appointment by phone several days in advance. The receptionist pulled up my profile and scheduled me with Joselyn. Joselyn was aware of my previous visit and even brought up the last incident herself. I explained that I hadn't been swimming for about three weeks, so my hair wasn't freshly exposed to saltwater. We discussed what I wanted for at least ten minutes, and she even mentioned doing a test strand -- which I thought was a great, professional idea. Then she left to grab the color and came back saying she would not work on my hair at all. "Saltwater exposure and dead ends." Seriously? "Summer time!" That's not a reason to refuse a loyal, paying customer. Everything from my last appointment with Megan was right there in their notes, so they knew exactly what to expect. Yet I was still turned away -- not even offered a haircut or an alternative. When I asked if someone else could at least give me a trim, she said, "We're pretty light today." I walked in expecting professional service and walked out ten minutes later completely refused w/ nothing. I'm beyond disappointed. If you advertise yourself as a color salon, you should be confident enough to handle color -- not back out of it after an appointment is already booked. The no show no call list was after I kindly explained the accident. I didnt want to reschedule. Your attitude was disgusting after something bery scary. Your story is so far fetched to save face.. You're trying to make yourself look good . Y'all weren't reasonable or concerned. I said she was unprofessional after I explained and she said, "If you aren't here in 4 minutes we have to cancel" I blocked her and moved on with my life, found a great salon, and that's that. I'm new to the area and needed to find a hair stylist. I'm a SAHM and pretty much haven't done anything to my hair for 4 years, but I have a tropical vacation coming up and decided to splurge on a cut and balayage (blonde on my light brown). I chose Hue Hair Lounge because of the proximity AND great Yelp reviews. Well, Yelp failed me hard on this one. I told the stylist who cut my hair that I have fine, straight hair and I want a bob (which meant chopping off a good 5-6 inches). She assured me she was familiar with fine hair because that's what her mom has and she cuts her hair. Fantastic! Well, fine, straight hair is not forgiving and as you can see from the photos, unless I curl the hair under, it looks like she took a hacksaw to my hair: you see every scissor cut. I finally decided, after a week, that it was worth complaining about and Ellen, bless her, came to my rescue and fixed it, FREE OF CHARGE. The woman's a saint who deserves your business. Go to Ellen if you have fine, straight hair. I went to a different stylist, who claims to specialize in blonde hair, for my balayage. I showed a photo of what I was thinking, but told her she's the expert, so whatever she thinks would look good, go for it. Well. That was a mistake. We have wildly different definitions of what looks good. She gave me something that doesn't remotely look natural (in her defense, I did not STRESS to her that I wanted a natural look; I naively assumed "balayage = natural looking" because I've gotten balayage elsewhere before and it was always subtle and very natural looking). She gave me "money pieces" in the front that make me look like Rogue from Xmen. One of the sides is stripey and very early 2000's. And the back, exacerbated by the initial bad haircut, looks like I have a dark line of hair below all the blonde. And to make matters worse, I bought product to keep my hair healthy after all the bleaching, and then TIPPED HER 20% on the total amount of balayage PLUS products. So she got a fantastic tip from me. When I complained a couple days later that I was not happy with the color, she basically blamed me for requesting something that I wouldn't like and for not letting her use her "advanced teasy technique" (which is just teasing the hair -- which (A) hurt quite a bit and (B) is not required to make balayage look good and (C) is not good for fine hair that knots and breaks easily) and said she couldn't fix it until 2.5 weeks out (but if it was at a time convenient to me, then it would've been a month out). My vacation, which was the entire purpose for the splurge, is 1 week away. But even ignoring that, I'm supposed to look like a wanna-be teenager for a MONTH? It looks so unprofessional; thank goodness I'm a SAHM. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere and will not be returning to Hue Hair Lounge. read more

I have gone to this location twice and destiny is the best for blonding! I have mixed Asian-American hair and she was able to get it basically platinum blonde while keeping it to where I wouldn't have to worry bout maintenance as much (as per my request). I have gone to her twice. The first visit the receptionist didn't schedule enough time for her to complete a full Foilyage so she did a partial for me to give me the look I desired with the time we had. I was really happy with how it turned out and when kept the partial longer than I anticipated! The 2nd time was an appointment to finish the rest and she did a great job! Highly recommend. Certainly not ideal, especially considering how much you have to pay for this service. I do not live in Katy, Texas but based on the reviews it seemed like a good place to get color done. The location offered to have me come in to re-tone my hair, however I did not have a time that would work while I was still in town nor should I have to if the service should be complete the first time. I have been going to Megan for almost 2 years now & the most recent experience I had was my 3rd strike. The last 3 times I went in, I was seen by Mia. I will say that I am not always the best communicator & I can be wishy-washy with my hair, but with that being said, in this industry (which I have been part of for nearly 7 years) you pamper your clients. The first strike happened about a year & a half ago: I have dark brown hair & asked specifically for a yin/yang type hairstyle. Split right down the middle, two different colours - I wanted light brown on one side & purple on the other. This didn't happen. My hair barely changed colour & Megan did not offer to redo the dye job. She just laughed & mentioned it clearly didn't come out. I still paid & tipped. I was NOT happy. If you are being quoted for something, you should be given that EXACT service, I probably should have walked away already at this point... The second strike: I do not always walk out of here happy with my haircut. I think that the girls are great as people & have never had an issue with them on a personal level, but I do think that they are still learning how to run a business & operate in this industry. (Again, I have been a receptionist in this field, I have modeled, done make-up freelance & been around the back-end of pageants my whole life - not my first rodeo). ** I asked for chevron bangs (they fall into a V-shape) before I even showed up to my appointment also - when I was finally in the chair, ready to go, Mia said she wasn't comfortable doing it & wanted Megan to step in. This tells you something. Recently, I got nearly $800 extensions in. Like I said - I have always had a communication issue with Megan, but always went to her because I like her as a person. They suggested I try extensions because I wanted a LOB & in the end, Mia did the application. Regarding the product: they only told me I needed to order 2 bundles to get a lob. Somehow this ended up translating into a disjointed/disconnected a-line bob?? If you look up a LOB & a BOB online it's a pretty significant difference... Turns out - 2 bundles wasn't enough for a LOB, it was enough for the idea THEY had. I feel like a lot of research isn't being done & they are just up-selling products... What this tells me is that you are going off the marketing within your industry, but have no PERSONAL experience with the product. I LOVED the product though & decided on mermaid hair. So I bought 2 more bundles to have applied. Two things to mention right now: if you're going to spend 135/bundle on extensions, why would you cut off 8" of it? I decided to go all the way. Also, if you tell me that NONE of your other clients have had any issues & that the extensions should last for 4-6 months... they SHOULD last that long. Within 4 days after the final application (4 bundles in my hair now), 2 of my "sandwiches" fell out. I later found out from Megan that they were not able to prepare my hair correctly because of the 2 days between applications. At NO POINT was I told that this would make a difference in the application process... but since both Megan & Mia seemed confident, I trusted them. Big mistake. This is a good time to add that I listened to their instructions: I bought the suggested dry shampoo, I bought the brush they told me to brush (more money spent!) & I would press the adhesives together to reinforce them. I did also tip Mia for her trouble, even though this entire process was a nightmare. Since the 2 "sandwiches" fell out - I wanted to move on, get them taken out & get a refund. The brand wouldn't refund the used hair & Megan/Mia wouldn't either. The most they would do is refund the service fee of 150, leaving me with 600 bucks worth of hair sitting on my shelf. What good is that? As an unhappy customer that spent near over half a grand in services, I sent several texts on the weekend. I was asked to not do that because they were trying to enjoy time with their family. I even got the whole "I understand you have a lot going on in your life, but..." line. Sorry, but if you own a business, you don't have weekends off sometimes. I would know - I worked freelance. Long story short: Megan & Mia are great people to be around, but they do not do their research. Also, as new business partners - they are not always on the same page professionally. Mia tried to be as accommodating as possible, but Megan not so. They are a growing business & will probably learn a lot in the next few years, but they are still in the LEARNING process. If you are looking for a professional salon who will give you 100% customer-satisfaction guaranteed, spend the extra $50 on every service so that you won't be disappointed. * Edited a few hours after posted: Another extension came out (one from from the original application). * EDIT Filed with the BBB & Consumer Protection, was given a partial refund of the disputed amount.
