When Emma was less than a year old she was running to and from the neighbor's house where I was chasing after her constantly. The final straw was the day that she came in contact with her future boyfriend Tully boy. I did not know that Tully boy was harmless at the time but it scared me enough that I ran all the way home and went right for the Yellow Pages. LITERALLY. True story. It was then that I had an opportunity to talk to Chris and about a week later he installed the invisible fence by Dog Guard around my 2-acre property. He also installed the monitor in the flower beds and in one room inside (where I fed the cats). The training only needed to be done once because the second time Emma wanted no part of it... She took one look at Chris and ran in the other direction.... Which means she got it from GetGo LOL not that I'm laughing really because it's sad to see your dog get zapped for the first time. But she never got zapped again. Once those yellow flags are up the dog wants no part of trying to go through them. Emma would always stay 5 to 10 feet away. Needless to say she never went through it except one time when I was on my bicycle and drove past the end of the driveway down the street. At that time though she didn't have the collar on. In her defense she was just probably a nervous wreck not wondering where I was going so she took the risk. She never wore the collar after about the first 6 months. She didn't need to. Most dogs don't. The first thing I will be doing is calling Chris to install another invisible fence after I get my next home and before I get my next dog. Note: over the years of having my dog fence I needed revisions from time to time because when I was cutting the hedges I sometimes accidentally cut the wires and Chris would have to come back. So really, he kind of became a family friend and a trustworthy source.

Some time after the fence was put in someone accidentally damaged it, Chris was quick to respond and fix the fence for me. I definitely recommend working with them!

The puppy broke her leg the…read moreday I went to adopt her and had to go to the vet the next day, so I had to come back later the next day to get her. I asked Liz where the break was, and she said she didn't know and their vet wouldn't give her the x-rays, which seemed odd, but some people are too ignorant to know they have a right to the x-rays. She also said the wrap on the leg needed to be on for 5 weeks, but it was OK if it came off: also odd. They never mentioned a word about the coins in her stomach. I took the puppy and called my vet who wanted to see the x-rays and have a copy of the office visit for the broken bone. Liz would not tell me the name of their vet but said she would call them and have the x-rays sent to my vet with the information I gave her. I was really flummoxed as to why she wouldn't tell me the name of the vet, and since my vet received nothing, I started calling the 5 vets I found online in their area. On the fifth -- and also wrong one -- the receptionist gave me the name and number of a 6th vet that turned out to be the right one, and they told me they had not been contacted by Hollywood "Rescue" and that the puppy was still listed as theirs, so they couldn't release the information without Hollywood's permission. Meanwhile, the day of my vet appointment came, and my vet called Hollywood and after lying to her about their "confusion" about what I wanted, they gave her the necessary information for getting the x-rays, so we finally found out what they were hiding: The puppy had swallowed coins, which were being attacked by her stomach acid, which would cause metal poisoning that could kill her. My vet recommended immediate removal of them, but vets are in short supply and no local ones had an appointment for over a month. That meant I would have to go to an emergency vet, which would cost twice as much. My vet has a friend who is a vet an hour and a half from where I live, and that vet was willing to remove the coins that turned out to be 5 quarters. He was able to avoid surgery with an endoscopy procedure, which took hours to do, was successful, and cost over $1800. I had to take an entire day off work, but I took her to that vet and hung around an unfamiliar town for 5 hours that saved Hollywood thousands of dollars, and they were too stupid to look at the invoice I sent and see that it was paid, so they emailed me and asked if they should pay the vet. I told them that I had paid it and gave them my address to send it to me. It never arrived, and they have told me they sent it to the vet: another lie. To date, vet care for the coins and the break have totaled about $4,000., and my puppy has not had a normal ability to act like a puppy because for weeks she was mostly lethargic, probably due to poisoning from the quarters, and I couldn't let her run around because it would interfere with her leg healing. I have to go to the county where they live to file with small claims, but that is happening soon.

Three weeks later, NO communication and we heard NOTHING. Unfortunately, the shelter called us and said they messed up our application and gave the cat away to someone else. Huh?? BUT they said they have a new litter coming in and to check them out. Ok great. We check out the new litter and . Two out of the five were already adopted somehow, despite getting the cats literally an hour ago. They didn't have name tags out and they weren't even set up yet. HOW?! There was one I really liked. Once again, I asked if the cat was available and they said yes. I told them I'll apply. I also called the shelter to make sure and yup the cat is available. Not even 5 minutes later, they called me back and were like "yeah.... Sorry, that cat is already adopted too." I get a call later at night from the friends I put as references telling me the shelter talked to them for application but sounded disorganized. At this point, there is no cat we applied for that was available, as both of them went to other families. Who were they calling for?! It's extremely sketchy. Finally, they called us AGAIN and told us to come in one more time. We gave up at that point, but went just for the hell of it, once again, basically all the cats are adopted already. They instructed us to go to their actual shelter (this was all PetSmart) and we were like NOPE. I refuse to give these irresponsible people money. I hope the animals have great care because this place cannot be trusted. HORRIBLE experience, AVOID and go somewhere else.

I can't recommend Nancy at Know Your Dog Training highly enough…read more After doing extensive research to find the right trainer, I'm so glad I found Nancy. From the beginning it was clear that she has a deep understanding of dogs and brings a calm, confident, and professional approach to everything she does. My dog Kane completed a training program with her, and I was extremely impressed with the experience and the results. Nancy takes the time to truly understand each dog and provides the kind of structure, guidance, and consistency that helps dogs thrive. Since then, Nancy has also become my trusted go-to whenever I travel. Knowing Kane is in her care gives me tremendous peace of mind. He always comes home happy, relaxed, and well cared for. What really sets Nancy apart is the level of attention and personalization she provides. This isn't a typical boarding situation -- she genuinely gets to know the dogs she works with and creates a thoughtful, structured environment for them. Nancy is trustworthy, caring, extremely knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what she does. I'm very grateful I found her and would recommend Know Your Dog Training without hesitation to anyone looking for a skilled trainer or a safe, reliable place for their dog while they're away.

Nancy was referred to me by another trusted dog trainer I worked with in the city, and I'm so glad…read moreshe was. Having a city dog isn't easy -- our 4-year-old Wheaten Terrier (female) has tons of energy, a stubborn streak, and some anxiety and reactivity issues around other dogs. We were looking for help with leash training and overall confidence, and Nancy was the perfect fit. From the very first interaction, Nancy was professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. She clearly loves what she does and cares deeply about every dog she works with. I enrolled our pup in a month-long board-and-train program while I was getting married, and Nancy made the experience completely stress-free. She stayed in constant communication, sending regular updates, photos, and videos that showed the progress and the specific behaviors being worked on -- plus advice for us as owners to reinforce at home. When our dog came back, the difference was night and day. She's calmer, more responsive, and walks beautifully on a leash with far fewer distractions. Her reactivity around other dogs has improved dramatically, and she seems much more confident overall. Even after the program ended, Nancy went above and beyond -- she included additional follow-up lessons at no cost and still checks in to see how things are going. Her board-and-train setup is amazing too: the dogs aren't kept in kennels but get to enjoy the outdoors, sunshine, and plenty of attention and enrichment. I can't recommend Know Your Dog and Nancy enough for anyone looking for dog training, board-and-train programs, or boarding with a personal touch. Nancy truly changed our dog's behavior -- and our lives -- for the better.
