If only I could visit this amazing spot every single day! My fiance found this wonderful animal…read moresanctuary on Airbnb experiences: feed and play with the baby pigs. That was the main event advertised and was enough to get me so excited for a trip, but it was actually SO much more! Before we actually even met the pigs, we got a chance to meet and pet puppies, the barn kitten, horses, goats and a mule and I have to say, Robin the goat stole my heart... While we pet and played and fed, Maggie taught us about the work that they do at the sanctuary. They rescue all different kinds of animals from different situations. Sometimes owners can no longer take care of their animal, sometimes they rescue them from livestock auctions (like Tanto the mule), but all of the time this amazing place is just trying to make sure these animals have happy lives. She explained some sad truths behind how teacup pigs are bred (they are basically just fed so little that their growth is stunted) but she just made us fall more and more in love with all of the animals we were meeting. So many animals at the sanctuary were up for adoption so if your house has a spare room, I can totally vouch for Robin the goat. They also have dogs that are looking for homes if that is more your speed. If you are just visiting the area like us, I highly recommend going for a tour. But prepare to get muddy and have very cute farm animals nuzzling up against you. Thank you for such a great day, Wayward Ranch!

Beautiful animals including horses, goats, and pigs to interact with as well. Had a wonderful time visiting with our children and friends and glad that the ranch provides such an opportunity to visit.

My family and I had been searching for a Rottweiler to adopt since our 8 year old pup just passed…read moreunexpectedly. This is the third female Rottweiler in our family. Our first passed around three, she had cancer and it was tragic. Our current Rottweiler is 4 years old now and she's our whole world. The sweetest little love bug, much like our other two. While perusing Facebook, we came across an application for a young 1 year old female Rottweiler. This Rotty had been abandoned and left outside. We have never been through the process of adopting through a shelter. Granted, we did call, and they stated we couldn't just come and pick her up and that a meeting would have to be scheduled. We filled out the application but drove almost an hour one way, to see if there's anyway we could possibly meet her. We had full knowledge and understanding that we couldn't take the dog, and that the application process needed to be fulfilled. We love Rottweilers so much, if there was any chance to just meet this beautiful girl, we wanted to see her. Again as I stated before, we're completely new to this process. When we arrived we were greeted, not very nicely, by one of the staff members. We explained our situation and asked if there was any possible way of meeting the pup. Staff was rude, unprofessional, and stated the dog needed to "rest", and that there was no possibility of even seeing her. If that's the way things are done, that's fine, and we need to respect how these shelters do business. What shocked us was the horrendous email we received after we got home. The email reprimanded us for showing up at the shelter unannounced, like we were some evil abusive people. The email brazenly stated to "NOT" contact any members of the staff because they were "upset" that we showed up. We also got yelled at for bringing our sweet Rottweiler with us. We always travel with our dog... she comes in the car with us everywhere. It was stated that bringing another dog (our dog never even got out of our car) is "NEVER" the protocol. There's no information about this anywhere on the website, nor where we ever told this until we got this nasty email. It says , "by appointment only", on their website but again, post-covid, you have no idea who's actually doing real appointments or walk-ins and if there's a chance to rescue a dog that needs help, you take it. All of their procedures sound reasonable. The fact is that the way they handled this situation was disgusting and unprofessional. A great family, who has the means and funds to rescue a dog, especially a Rottweiler that's such a difficult and misunderstood breed, was turned away and treated like trash because we didn't follow protocols that we didn't even know were in place. We were told our application wouldn't even be processed. Again, we hold no ill will to the procedures of the shelter, I'm sure they are put in place for very important reasons. But to patronize and scold a young family trying to rescue an animal is a disgusting and unprofessional way to conduct this organization. I would never discourage any individuals from adopting animals from any shelter. I am however ashamed and simply astounded at the unprofessionalism and disregard for human dignity and respect from staff members. Don't use this shelter as your first choice.

Deserves no stars. I found a cat I liked at PetSmart and I asked staff if the cat was available…read more They said yes. Ok great. We applied. Three weeks later, NO communication and we heard NOTHING. Unfortunately, the shelter called us and said they messed up our application and gave the cat away to someone else. Huh?? BUT they said they have a new litter coming in and to check them out. Ok great. We check out the new litter and . Two out of the five were already adopted somehow, despite getting the cats literally an hour ago. They didn't have name tags out and they weren't even set up yet. HOW?! There was one I really liked. Once again, I asked if the cat was available and they said yes. I told them I'll apply. I also called the shelter to make sure and yup the cat is available. Not even 5 minutes later, they called me back and were like "yeah.... Sorry, that cat is already adopted too." I get a call later at night from the friends I put as references telling me the shelter talked to them for application but sounded disorganized. At this point, there is no cat we applied for that was available, as both of them went to other families. Who were they calling for?! It's extremely sketchy. Finally, they called us AGAIN and told us to come in one more time. We gave up at that point, but went just for the hell of it, once again, basically all the cats are adopted already. They instructed us to go to their actual shelter (this was all PetSmart) and we were like NOPE. I refuse to give these irresponsible people money. I hope the animals have great care because this place cannot be trusted. HORRIBLE experience, AVOID and go somewhere else.
